  • What version of GT2 is this (1.0, 1.1, or 1.2)?

  • @vega3410 no idea

  • Get yourself a new computer, son.

  • @derekrau thank you. your commentary made me re-record this video, and I learned interesting stuff about it. more details in the second release of this video. uploading now.

  • @derekrau Don't be mean to the kind son, SON.

  • is this Suzuki Eskudo?

  • @KimiProGunz yes

  • I found a very weird glitch on this track. On the little downhill part on this track, with the Escudo, going at a fast speed, rammed into the wall, and the car starts flying around the track at a VERY fast speed. I did it by accident on the endurance race. I was almost done with it(had 2 more laps to go) and I'm like WTF?!? I was laughing, but I was also mad because I had to restart the whole endurance race all over again.

  • @MariolFan555 Ugh, no one wants to do that. I would be so friggen pissed. Was this the 200 mile Endurance Race? :D

  • @TheMilfman7 Uh...yeah, I think it was that one.

  • BULLSHIT "hidden drag strip"

    its just a clipping bug!

  • "1.2 - Confirmed Drag Racing has been removed from Gran Turismo 2 :(....

apparently it ended up being unfinished due to time constraints (if you can believe

that crap), and that explains the presence of the Nissan drag cars and the Intrepid

Pro Stock... oh well." @ Gran Turismo 2: FAQ by JCulbert

  • "7) Q: CAN you even get 100%? A: No, and here's why. Sony of Japan says you can never get 100% done with GT2, because of "production problems". I think it's because of the missing Drag Races, but maybe that's just me. ;)" @ Gran Turismo 2: FAQ by Nemesis

  • @GuiARitter

of course you can get 100%. i reached it without any cheats or tricks. i just finished all the races (including the manufactor races), and there it was 100%. i dont even had the gold licenses...

    normal german version..

    bye

  • that might be because of re-released versions, but there are versions where you can't, and that's why

  • The reason the game stops at 98.2% complete is that polyphony was originally

going to include a drag racing section. Due to time constraints, it was removed,

but the cars (Race Modified Intrepid, HKS 180SX, etc.) were left in. @ Gran Turismo 2: Glitch FAQ by Nemesis

  • @GuiARitter

And Polyphony digital wanted to release GT2 before Christmas.

They even didn't knew about the incompleteness bug.

And yes, it's just a bug here.

You can go out of the track on lot of tracks on Escudo.

US and Japanese releases have 1.0 (incomplete) and 1.1 (complete 100%) versions. Europe version was released in 2000 and is fully complete.

  • @dfactorxx all right then, but it looks so much like a drag strip from ingame...

  • @GuiARitter

    Who knows maybe it is.

But... how the hell did it was just left alone there in Laguna Seca track file?

It should be in a separate one...

Anyways thanks for the pointing those textures out)))

  • @dfactorxx you're welcome, and my theory is:

perhaps the drag strip uses the same textures as laguna seca, so it was made in the same file, and perhaps they wouldn't delete the unused track to avoid making more different files, just making one or another "inaccessible"...

  • @GuiARitter

Yes, the car can be spawned in a different place, probably with different trackmap.

But, can you get on the textures?

  • what system?

  • playstation one

  • lol im goin to try this at gt4 :D

  • does it work?

  • @mrbob279 ohhhh i didnt try i forgot T_T i played the game a few hours after watching this an then i deleted the saved game :D

  • that shit happend i jerrzy devil if u fell and hoverd for about 4 min the level would loop and youd just drop back in it, but that dosent look liek a loop

  • It could be Airplane landind strip. And how did you get the psx emu to work i tried downloading it and it just crashed.

  • did you downloaded all the plugins?

  • It's the tire(red and black)

  • I used to use this all the time, but I used the dragster, not the Escudo

  • There is not unfinished part! This is a looping rendering of the track, without aly collision

  • it's not a looping rendering! I've seen inside it through the rear view mirror and it IS a drag strip!

  • que feio

  • Cosmonaut! )) But why, in the GT as bugs??? When I played in the GT and GT2, I have not seen anything like this.

  • They tried to release gt2 till christmans, so they dont have enuoght time to fix all bugs, later in newer realease that was fixed.

  • the thing that i finded think it is the real drag strip.

  • thats not the drag strip thats like a unfinished part of laguna seca.

wen i whatched the video i tried to do the same thing and i finded that, but then i see that was not the secret drag strip.

so i strated drive in other direction and your car is marcked as the red point on the screen so drive your red point to the MPH then drive in the same direction "Note: your red point will disapear" then dive for about 10 to 15 minuts each, and you will find the Drag Strip.

  • Well, technically, it's the drag strip that was going to be put into the game. Hence the three, i think it's three, cars that have dragster look alike race modifications to them, and the two actual dragsters you can win.

The game got rushed, so it was was never finished.

And, it's not uncommon to find a "Test bed" floating somewhere about the gamespace randomly. Filming and testing ingame. Lol.

  • That is Palm Strip, incorrectly named by the game as Plam Strip, and if you look carefully at the intro, when all the track names pop up, you will see Plam Strip at the end.

  • well i tired that too but it was beta tracks of laguna seca.

  • hidden drag strip........hahaha just goin outta the track/map, used to happen all the time to me, funny though =]

  • there IS a hidden drag strip but it's floating in the sky. there's a way to get into it but i don't know how!

  • I'm pretty Sure wht ur looking at is the track not some hidden thing

  • it IS the hidden drag strip

you can see that cuz it's far away from the track at the map

  • WOO and its not a drag strip, its some circle thing, like those mini kart races, i finally got there. keep driving in the direction of the so called " Drag Strip " u'll eventually reach it but u cant land on it, it will disapear and form another one in front of u.

  • correction. its like a turn short of thing, from far away it looks like a drap strip thing.

  • Sry for not believing u b4.

  • I reckon that what you think is the Drag Strip is actually in fact the section of track used for a few of the B-license tests. The Start/Finish gives it away for me. Also, RAWRWTFX mentions how it has a turn, just like the license test.

Just what I reckon, could be wrong.

Chances are, if this really is what I think. Then there's the possibility that if someone searches through all the tracks, they'd probably find even more.

  • damn! i have never though 'bout this! this might just be right. anyway, i never managed to get inside. i only know it could be a drag strip 'cuz someone at a faq says so.

  • You'd be forgiven for thinking so of course.

Thing is, if it was the cancelled Drag Strip. Wouldn't they put it in it's own "world"? I mean, with it's own background and stuff?

I'm not too sure on all this. But it's just my theory xD.

  • The unused drag strip was probably just put somewhere in one of the other track areas (such as Laguna Seca) far away from the track that was originally meant for that setting (for beta testing purposes) to avoid wasted space on the disc due to an unused area and background. If the track layout did exist somewhere on the disc, the programers probably just forgot to delete the unused data before the game's release.

  • I did it right now on the PS3 and it didn't look like that I went up to it and on min it was the sharp turn at the end of the strait stretch at luna sega weird?

  • actually there's more than one place to get out but i couldn't get out thru the other one

    you said "luna sega"...

    it's "laguna seca"

    something like "dried lake"...

  • Yea, I read in WP and noticed that the early US games actually couldn´t get 100%. Sorry for my 1st post. I have a European version, and I didn´t have problems gettin 100%, thatś why I was confused. sorry

  • yes it is a hidden course, but it's inside laguna seca. if u try, you'll see a long, straight track. i learned it at walkthrought, but i couldn't "land" on the track

for who that doesn't know the history, i'll tell yall:

the game was supposed to have drag races, but they hadn't time so they launched the game without it. why do you think there are the h33 drag cars? for the drag races. that's why too you can't get 100% of completion: cuz of the missin' drag races

  • I´ve gotten 100% completion in GT2. I don´t know why you couldn´t get it.

I won all the races in GT2+ the random races and voilá, 100% (without the "random" races it will be about 99%)

  • dats b cuz there was a bug that couldnt get u 100 percent for everyone u were lucky u got a good copy of the game

  • Aha i have always wondered why they cant turn. :D

  • Its not a hidden course, its just how to get out of the map, like in Motorsports Land Course, what its better cause you don't lose a race =)

  • wow you got out of the map! That's sicc wit it
