im sorry but whats the point in allowing people to hit each other this hard in a sport? its just dumb, it has no purpose and it just creates and unnecessary amount of injuries
@redwingsrule1334 that doesn't make the smallest bit of sense, you will have to structure a better argument to actually answer my question. saying that's just the way it is isn't an answer
That was never a dirty hit as his head was down and also Jesse Martin even said that is was a clean hit, so get over it people that think it's a dirty hit.
It's worth noting that this is the ONLY instance I can think of where a clean hockey check resulted in a severe injury. A combination of terrible luck, and amazing luck, for Jesse Martin. I'm sure that Brad Malone feels completely awful for what happened.
Clean hit but when a guy has his head down and is in such a vulnerable position, the opposing player does not need to tee-off on him and try to destroy him.
He is obviously a talented hockey player if he is playing at a University level, so everyone who is bashing him should really shut the hell up because you have nothing on him.
Yeah he had his head down but everybody has it down sometimes. He just got caught.

nothing dirt in this hit first martin keep your head up and second malone it's a fucking giant and his arms is as him chest level what's wrong with that ??
Not the dirtiest hit in history, but not the cleanest either. Martin gets caught with his head down, reaching for the puck and Malone finishes his check, just like any player would. Yeah his hands come up a little high, so call a roughing penalty if anything. Kinda similar to Chara's hit, this is a borderline hit that happens fairly often, just in this case the end result is a player with a broken neck.
@tigkid Don't blame Martin for what was written in that trash article..... Martin has been very good about the whole situation. Blame the writer for misquoting and taking quotes out of context.
Yes Don't blame Martin or Malone. That dam media has to blame on this. Martin did not see it coming and it was not for R Bina years back. Malone does feel like crap for this and suffered enough. So deal with it you stupid media people...
The nerve this Martin has to come out in the Denver post and say that the none of the sioux are sorry about what happened and that he thinks they think its ok because its payback for the hit on Robbie Bina when he broke his neck.Thats just totally ridiculous because first of all the hits are no where near the same. Bina got absolutely ran from behind with no chance to defend himself.Mr Martin you should have been taught to move the pucker quicker and with your head up a lot earlier than college.
I feel bad for the kid... kind of ironic that it was a DU player who got hit by an Avalanche prospect. We in Denver never want to see this sort of a thing ever since the Todd "I'm a thug" Bertuzzi incident. I don't think it was a dirty hit, Martin did have his head down and just never saw it coming.
@coolcanadian@ihatesiouxhockey(mustn't be biased). Not sure if you know what charging is, but you have to take strides into the player. coasting and checking someone that has the puck on their stick isn't charging. incidental head contact north/south is also allowed. Now take into account that Martin himself is ok with it and you can stop bitching. if hes not staring at his feet he doesn't get hurt. Also ref watched and didn't call a penalty(let play continue) until the stretcher came
It was the fact that Martin lost the puck that caused the head contact. When he loses the puck he leans forward a little and that drops his head about a second before Malone gets there, otherwise he hits him in the shoulder.
that was definitely charging, it doesnt matter if he had the puck or not, and he hit the guy in the head. dumbass sioux fans dont know what the hell a penalty is
@McPo0n They were two completely different kind of breaks. Pacioretty first off isn't fine, but he fracted one of his vertabras - Martin on the other hand completely shifted one of the vertabras, which 98% of the time causes paralysis
No - He was drafted by the Thrashers, and played quite well for Dever. But coming back to play was not one of his options. It's very unfortunate and I wish him all the best
Fuck Malone, Martins career is over to those asking when he is coming back. keep in mind Jesse almost DIED. 98% of people don't survive from the injury he received
Fuck Malone and Bertuzzi, both should NEVER be allowed to play hockey again
@CoolCanadianGuy7 Okay there dumb Canadian guy .. First of all, this was a 100% clean hit. Brad Malone was personally contacted by Jesse Martin himself and not only was he not mad but he accepted that he had his head down and got rocked. This sucks and im not saying it doesnt at all but it wasnt any fault of Brad's at all he didnt intend to do this. Freak accidents happen this is NOTHING like bertuzzi and his attack on an innocent guy.
@CoolCanadianGuy7 i honestly dont think he went for the head at all. I dont like Bertuzzi for what he did, it was stupid and proved nothing b ut i doubt he meant to break someones neck either .. I dont think hes a bad of a guy as people make him out to be, however he was very stupid and if your going to do those things you should accept that serious shit might happen.
@CoolCanadianGuy7 Clean hit, no penalty until the refs saw that he was on the ice for a while. They called a major for charging? He still had the puck when he was checked, north south none the less . . . Good clean hit. Sorry the guy got hurt but there is an inherant risk when you play any sport. There should not have been a major or a suspension. Probably shouldn't have been a penalty. See you tomorrow, hope both teams are classier than you.
From my experience of being a player for 15 years, and as a referee for 2 years, I view this as a clean hit. From what i have seen in the video, the hitter sailed in, presumably taking his strides earlier. Even if it were a clean hit, the injury is unfortunate and saddening, my thoughts go out to the recipient of the hit.
Playing hockey for 13 years, I agree with the charging call. College and D3 highschool are significantly different in speed, but its a white blur that hits Jesse if you aren't paying attention. Good call by the refs, but most deffinately the injury was by accident. Happy to Jesse IS doing well, hockey coach just sent the team a link wiht the interview.
Probably something related to the fact that Jesse Martin's injury from this hit has a 98 % fatality (death rate) the instant that the injury occurs...
@GrandForksNDRiders Well the best way I can explain it is that its the same as when Marvin hit a sioux player. only the shoe is on the other foot now.
Malone, I would love to meet you halfway for a clean hit. I am only 140lbs, but I am sure a lot of others, including freshly washed MACK TRUCKS, would ernjoy the moment. You need to find a new sport, like football. I promise you, you will get your ass kicked for a record longest field goal.
@blcfny98 brad malone is actually a great guy. he is big and fucking strong so he tears shit up. hitting has always been part of hockey and these things happen
If brad malone thought that it was a clean hit, how can he ever enjoy this game when he has to be always has to watching his back, for that phantom freshly washed mack truck.
This hit wasn't dirty at all! Martin called malone from the hospital and told him it was a clean hit and was his own fault for having his head up his ass!
that was a clean hit keep your fucking head up thats the first thing your taught when you start playing hockey keep your fucking head up!!!! i feel sorry for the guy because of the outcome but i also feel sorry for malone because of all the shit he's gonna take for the hit which i think was a CLEAN HIT!!! If martin wasn't hurt i don't think there would have even been a penalty called and martin coach would have told him keep YOUR FUCKING HEAD UP!!!!
@krismitchcan dude. he was looking down for like a second. im not saying that was a dirty hit but it wasnt exactly 100% clean. obviously youre not going to have your fucking head up the whole time... have a little respect that was a career ending hit
@Bullet4MyA7X I totally agree with you, I know the Martin family and they are just devastated that their son's future, his passion, was cut short. Of course Malone didn't mean to break Jesse's neck, it is what the sports about, but like you said, have respect that Malone got away with a 5 minute penalty and Jesse got away with partial paralysis
I find it impossible to believe and then some that Malone is remotely concerned, moreover possible of remorse vis-a-vis Jesse Martin as per his post Martin hit play. The thug has made numerous violent cheap shot hits over the past several weeks, the latest coming against Minnesota's Kevin Wehrs at the end of the second period that rightfully ignited a brawl. Your friend Malone, a real thug if ever there was.
I don't who the phuk you are but your apologist rant is beyond pathetic.
@equinoxranch That was A CLEAN hit, it wasnt charging because he had stopped propeling himself forward, he hit him from the side, it wasnt cross checking because his hands were in the right spot, and it wasnt after the horn. What makes you think that it was a cheapshot?
@Reigningsteel95 Im talking about the hit on Kevin Whers of the Gophers. I personly cant tell about this hit though, and as much as brad malone is to blame, and how serious this injury was. It was a mirracle that jesse survived and im gald he did. Though on my parting commment, Jesse did call Malone and told him he held nothing agianst him, and that he had heard the malone was having a hard time with it.
Wrong............... The sport is not about breaking necks, paralysis, cheap shots, coward hits and the like. Malone is a ruthless thug, period. His cheap shots have not ceased since this one on Martin. The WCHA should have thrown his ass out out over a year ago.
Have "respect" that Malone got away with nothing more than two penalties and Martin is only partially paralyzed.............? WTF???????????????
Easy buddy, I think you misunderstood me, I'm team Jesse here, but every sport has these questionable moments. You obviously have it in for Malone, why don't you create a Anti-Malone blog, it'll make you feel better.
The thing that pissed me off most about this hit was the fact that at the time of the hit, there was no penalty. After Martin didn't move, then the ref's called a penalty.
wow Lenny you really don't know shit about hockey do you? What if the person who's car got hit had their head down? then there's a chance it could have been their fault because they were unaware of their surroundings..... would you like to try your argument again?
This hit is both players fault. DU's player should have kept his head up, but UND's player clearly came in for a charge. The speed and intensity of the hit make it appear intentional, which is obviously frowned upon.
A 5+DQ is appropriate because of the contact to the head rule strengthened over the summer. Head down, or not. Aaron Marvin of SCSU learned this last year with his hit against Geoffrion and the subsequent 3! game suspension.
I don't agree with either, but consistency is a must.
its obvious that the player was intentionally trying to get a elbow/arm headshot in,but didnt realize the impact that could have been caused from a headshot like that.i play my share of hockey and seen alot of bs on the ice,as a player you must learn to concentrate on playing and not on rettaliation.,i was in one game where two players were facing off and the other player was trying to lift up the stick of the other one..he missed and hit the player in the eye and popped his eye out of socket...
Clean hit, ugly outcome. Hate to blame anyone, but it was more Martin's fault than Malone's. Martin put crouched and lowered his head, preventing him from seeing Malone coming in. If he hadn't he might have been able to shift his body to deflect some of the contact. @ Lennysunday There's a difference between typing fast and spelling wrong, and the difference clearly escapes you. You just don't know how to spell correctly.
The NCAA has some of the strictest rules when it comes to "hitting from behind" and "contact to the head" because they seek to protect the student athlete. Given that, this is NOT a legal hit. When the hit is delivered directly to the head/neck area it's an automatic 5+GM or DQ. The problem to me is that there's no repercussions in college hockey. Full cages/35 game schedules create a dangerous atmosphere. My vote - half shields and fighting. YES, fighting cleans up hockey!
@johnnymotown16 I agree completely. NCAA has always been against fighting because they think it isn't good sportsmanship or its dangerous, but the truth is: two players who are pissed off will do minimal damage in a fight as compared to the shit up there^
Fighting helps prevent hits like this from happening, plus it is exciting to watch
@hockeymatt1994 A fight wouldn't have stopped this one, man. This is just a freak accident. That said, I agree with you. If we can fight in juniors, they might as well let us fight in college. Hell, maybe it would get some kids to our games.
@wlfman11 well, obviously not all hits like this can be prevented, but it keeps goons in the box where they belong, and helps them to vent anger in a less destructive manner
@johnnymotown16 I hear ya brother.I have hated the full cages ever since they came out. And yes there is nothing wrong with a fight or 2 to clean things up.
808state909 is right. I am a die hard DU fan and last week Jesse released the statment that he put his head down. Hockey is hockey, you check, you learn it in peewees. Brad Malone did not NEED to hit Jesse but there was nothing wrong with him doing it. I hope Jesse gets better soon...
suspention and i dont care if they dont make any money in collage fine him anyway .. i hate dudes who hit defence less players in any sport looks silly and it is silly..
@Lennysunday learn to spell and learn about hockey. his "defenseless" position was created by his own doing. he'd still be playing if he didn't skate around the ice with his head down.
@808state909 when your typing fast who gives a shat about spelling .. no it wasnt Brad's hit was clearly a cheap shot .. he'd still be playing if Brad made a play on the puck and not at his head WTF....these type of hits in any sport are close to cowardly
@Lennysunday he made a play on the puck carrier and caused a turnover which is all legal in men's hockey. the only reason he gets hit in the head is because he's crouching over which is his own fault. he's skating around with his head down fumbling with the puck like it's practice. you can't do that in hockey and this is exactly why.
@808state909 he went for the guys head i dont care if its legal in hockey that shat is cowardly why dont he go wrestle or something .. thats like saying when someone hits you in your car and you didnt see it coming its your at fault.. stupid ..
@dkrickard i dont give a damn if youtube has spell check go to england and see how shity they think your perfect english is if you care so much .. that shat was cowardly .. dudes an idiot who just hits someone like ..play the puck!!!!!!!!!!
apparently he is up walking now. Good to hear. as far as the hit, i don't think it was dirty. He was facing him when he got hit and it was away from the boards. He unfortunately gor hit when he was vunerable. Hockey is a fast sport and these things have and will happen again.
perfectly fine hit, when someone gets hurt like that, the refs can't really get away without making some sort of call. That's how it always works, the guy made a mistake, didn't look up, he got hammered. Everyone's hoping for the best, that's hockey for ya.
Just hope he is gonna recover. Just remeber what happened to Genoway they sure as hell arent going to do that to someone else. Malone is physical and thats how he plays the game and i am sure he feels like shit. I also am a gopher fan and u want to talk cheap remeber the name Lucia. If he would have had his head up the outcome wouldnt of been so bad. Keep ur head up malone and keep playing your game.....
Pretty amazing that all of you hockey experts ALWAYS had your heads up EVERY second of EVERY game you EVER played. How ridiculous! Like Jesse Martin is the only guy that ever had to look at the ice to retrieve a puck.
This was a clean hit. It is unfortunate that the end result was his severe injury. Martin even contacted Brade Malone to tell him that it was a legit hit. I belive that Malone got the penalty because of the seriousness of the injury and I think if the hit would have went without a penalty it would have caused even more of a stir. Hopefully Martin will fully recover one day, and Malone can get passed the injury he put on Martin. It's hockey folks, that's the way the game pans out.
The hit was perfect. It wasn't even a charge, you can see him gliding into the hit the whole time, never took a stride while in camara view. For you people that said it's a head shot, I disagree, where exactly do you check someone that is leaning over as he was to pass the puck. If this kid jumped up after this hit, nothing would have been said, it's the end result that people are talking about. I also think the 5 minute charging penalty and game misconduct was a little over the top.
This would have been a video where I would say "keep your head up" but everyone knows it, but it's just difficult and to be honest sometimes I don't keep my head up when I play. What really sucks is that jessie had to glance down to look for the puck so you can't really blame him for having his head down, can you? Either way I really hope he can somehow recover, hits are part of the game.
im a friend of jesses from edmonton and its a clean hit pure and simple. jesse even said so himself. he called malone from the hospital and told him it was a clean check, and that he had his head down. jesses a tuff s.o.b. he will have surgery tommorow and hopefully play hockey again. get better jesse! best wishes ben, shnake, n shmiity
there is nothing wrong with that hit, iv known brad since elementary school, always a competitor, but would never mean to hurt someone, and with that said there was not charge he was coasting but when i player goes down like that the refs don't really have a choice.
So here's the deal. It was a penalty because of the WCHA's stance on contact to the head. It wasn't dirty though. He was going for the hit when Marting put his head down. As a side note, it doesn't do anybody any good for people to yell and scream that this person is bad, or that this team is dirty. Hockey is a rough game, and accidents happen. But its just a game, and thats what we all need to remember.
pornstars illtrax that clean hit where in the fuck u get to watch hockey in pussy league lolllllllllllll that what hockey all about if u don t like sport i hope u don t watch football most dangerous spot for head injuriesmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
clean hit and thats that. I don't even think that was charging. Malone was coasting when he hit Martin. The injury is horrible and I feel for the guy but the first thing I learned in hockey years before body contact was "keep your head up" That was instilled in me during my 20 years of playing hockey. For anyone to say that was a dirty hit is ignorant to the sport and the rules.
i was told to go watch this hit.... it was clean, the dude started leaning forward reaching for the puck , what a joke if a kid is playing ilkea retard and gets hurt you gota drop a 5min major?
A player shall not target and make contact with an opposing player's head or neck area in any manner (including but not limited to the shoulder, stick, elbow, etc.) or force the head of an opposing player into the protective glass, boards or goal cage.
PENALTY-- Major and a game misconduct or disqualification at the discretion of the referee.
The committee reminds coaches and players that the responsibility remains with the player making the hit to avoid contact with the head and neck area of an opposing player. Any contact which directly targets the player's head and neck area must be penalized with major penalty and a game misconduct or disqualification. A player delivering a check to an unsuspecting and vulnerable player puts themselves in jeopardy of being penalized under this rule.
How can he not hit him in the head tho? His head is down and leading his body, it would be impossible to hit him and not hit his head in that position.
How can he not hit him in the head tho? His head is down and leading his body, it would be impossible to hit him and not hit his head in that position.
For all of you late are bashing Malone I feel sorry for you. In the game of hockey there are sometimes unfortunate incidents that occur. This is one of those moments that any hockey player fears but understands as one of the dangers of our sport. As a hockey player myself I can guarantee you that Malone is having a terrible time with this and replaying the hit over and over in his head. How about we grow up and support both of these young men as both of these guys are going to need everyone
yeah breaking three of his C-2 vertebrae sure sounds like something that would happen from a clean hit...you're all fuckheads

@Leafsrule016 Good point, I didn't know Martin talked to Malone, but I still feel he should not have gone for head.
We can all agree though that Bertuzzi doesn't deserve to play in the NHL
CoolCanadianGuy7 11 months ago
@CoolCanadianGuy7 i honestly dont think he went for the head at all. I dont like Bertuzzi for what he did, it was stupid and proved nothing b ut i doubt he meant to break someones neck either .. I dont think hes a bad of a guy as people make him out to be, however he was very stupid and if your going to do those things you should accept that serious shit might happen.
Leafsrule016 11 months ago
@CoolCanadianGuy7 Clean hit, no penalty until the refs saw that he was on the ice for a while. They called a major for charging? He still had the puck when he was checked, north south none the less . . . Good clean hit. Sorry the guy got hurt but there is an inherant risk when you play any sport. There should not have been a major or a suspension. Probably shouldn't have been a penalty. See you tomorrow, hope both teams are classier than you.

Stop the video at 1:01 and take a look. Sure as hell looks like a glove/elbow to me with a direct blow to the head. That to me is NOT a clean hit.
duffurbanluke21 1 year ago
From my experience of being a player for 15 years, and as a referee for 2 years, I view this as a clean hit. From what i have seen in the video, the hitter sailed in, presumably taking his strides earlier. Even if it were a clean hit, the injury is unfortunate and saddening, my thoughts go out to the recipient of the hit.
iwishyouwereherenot 1 year ago
Playing hockey for 13 years, I agree with the charging call. College and D3 highschool are significantly different in speed, but its a white blur that hits Jesse if you aren't paying attention. Good call by the refs, but most deffinately the injury was by accident. Happy to Jesse IS doing well, hockey coach just sent the team a link wiht the interview.

funny thing is that if there was no injury there wouldn't be a penalty and no one would be saying anything about the hit....

somebody explain to me how this was a dirty hit at all?
GrandForksNDRiders 1 year ago
@GrandForksNDRiders
Probably something related to the fact that Jesse Martin's injury from this hit has a 98 % fatality (death rate) the instant that the injury occurs...
CarnageMerc 1 year ago
@GrandForksNDRiders Well the best way I can explain it is that its the same as when Marvin hit a sioux player. only the shoe is on the other foot now.
Johnnyquest57 1 year ago
@Johnnyquest57 except marvin hit genoway from behind. which is dirty. malone hit martin from the front. which is clean

If martin wasn't hurt i don't think there would have even been a penalty called and martin coach would have told him keep YOUR FUCKING HEAD UP!!!!
krismitchcan 1 year ago
@krismitchcan dude. he was looking down for like a second. im not saying that was a dirty hit but it wasnt exactly 100% clean. obviously youre not going to have your fucking head up the whole time... have a little respect that was a career ending hit
Bullet4MyA7X 1 year ago
@Bullet4MyA7X I totally agree with you, I know the Martin family and they are just devastated that their son's future, his passion, was cut short. Of course Malone didn't mean to break Jesse's neck, it is what the sports about, but like you said, have respect that Malone got away with a 5 minute penalty and Jesse got away with partial paralysis
sexsichikki 1 year ago
@sexsichikki
I don't who the phuk you are but your apologist rant is beyond pathetic.
equinoxranch 1 year ago
@equinoxranch That was A CLEAN hit, it wasnt charging because he had stopped propeling himself forward, he hit him from the side, it wasnt cross checking because his hands were in the right spot, and it wasnt after the horn. What makes you think that it was a cheapshot?
Reigningsteel95 1 year ago
@Reigningsteel95 Im talking about the hit on Kevin Whers of the Gophers. I personly cant tell about this hit though, and as much as brad malone is to blame, and how serious this injury was. It was a mirracle that jesse survived and im gald he did. Though on my parting commment, Jesse did call Malone and told him he held nothing agianst him, and that he had heard the malone was having a hard time with it.
Reigningsteel95 1 year ago
@sexsichikki
WTF???????????????
equinoxranch 1 year ago
@equinoxranch
Easy buddy, I think you misunderstood me, I'm team Jesse here, but every sport has these questionable moments. You obviously have it in for Malone, why don't you create a Anti-Malone blog, it'll make you feel better.
sexsichikki 1 year ago
The thing that pissed me off most about this hit was the fact that at the time of the hit, there was no penalty. After Martin didn't move, then the ref's called a penalty.
sioux0863 1 year ago
wow Lenny you really don't know shit about hockey do you? What if the person who's car got hit had their head down? then there's a chance it could have been their fault because they were unaware of their surroundings..... would you like to try your argument again?
dkrickard 1 year ago
This hit is both players fault. DU's player should have kept his head up, but UND's player clearly came in for a charge. The speed and intensity of the hit make it appear intentional, which is obviously frowned upon.
A 5+DQ is appropriate because of the contact to the head rule strengthened over the summer. Head down, or not. Aaron Marvin of SCSU learned this last year with his hit against Geoffrion and the subsequent 3! game suspension.
I don't agree with either, but consistency is a must.
mdneilson 1 year ago
@mdneilson Marvin got off pretty easy with his hit on Genoway. Perfect example of intent to injure on that one.
siouxrube 1 year ago
its obvious that the player was intentionally trying to get a elbow/arm headshot in,but didnt realize the impact that could have been caused from a headshot like that.i play my share of hockey and seen alot of bs on the ice,as a player you must learn to concentrate on playing and not on rettaliation.,i was in one game where two players were facing off and the other player was trying to lift up the stick of the other one..he missed and hit the player in the eye and popped his eye out of socket...
calgaryflame08 1 year ago
Clean hit, ugly outcome. Hate to blame anyone, but it was more Martin's fault than Malone's. Martin put crouched and lowered his head, preventing him from seeing Malone coming in. If he hadn't he might have been able to shift his body to deflect some of the contact. @ Lennysunday There's a difference between typing fast and spelling wrong, and the difference clearly escapes you. You just don't know how to spell correctly.
acid0426numba2 1 year ago
The NCAA has some of the strictest rules when it comes to "hitting from behind" and "contact to the head" because they seek to protect the student athlete. Given that, this is NOT a legal hit. When the hit is delivered directly to the head/neck area it's an automatic 5+GM or DQ. The problem to me is that there's no repercussions in college hockey. Full cages/35 game schedules create a dangerous atmosphere. My vote - half shields and fighting. YES, fighting cleans up hockey!
johnnymotown16 1 year ago
@johnnymotown16 I agree completely. NCAA has always been against fighting because they think it isn't good sportsmanship or its dangerous, but the truth is: two players who are pissed off will do minimal damage in a fight as compared to the shit up there^
Fighting helps prevent hits like this from happening, plus it is exciting to watch
hockeymatt1994 1 year ago
@hockeymatt1994 A fight wouldn't have stopped this one, man. This is just a freak accident. That said, I agree with you. If we can fight in juniors, they might as well let us fight in college. Hell, maybe it would get some kids to our games.
wlfman11 1 year ago
@wlfman11 well, obviously not all hits like this can be prevented, but it keeps goons in the box where they belong, and helps them to vent anger in a less destructive manner
hockeymatt1994 1 year ago
@johnnymotown16 I hear ya brother.I have hated the full cages ever since they came out. And yes there is nothing wrong with a fight or 2 to clean things up.

Lennysunday 1 year ago
@Lennysunday learn to spell and learn about hockey. his "defenseless" position was created by his own doing. he'd still be playing if he didn't skate around the ice with his head down.
808state909 1 year ago
@808state909 when your typing fast who gives a shat about spelling .. no it wasnt Brad's hit was clearly a cheap shot .. he'd still be playing if Brad made a play on the puck and not at his head WTF....these type of hits in any sport are close to cowardly
Lennysunday 1 year ago
@Lennysunday he made a play on the puck carrier and caused a turnover which is all legal in men's hockey. the only reason he gets hit in the head is because he's crouching over which is his own fault. he's skating around with his head down fumbling with the puck like it's practice. you can't do that in hockey and this is exactly why.
808state909 1 year ago
@808state909 he went for the guys head i dont care if its legal in hockey that shat is cowardly why dont he go wrestle or something .. thats like saying when someone hits you in your car and you didnt see it coming its your at fault.. stupid ..

apparently he is up walking now. Good to hear. as far as the hit, i don't think it was dirty. He was facing him when he got hit and it was away from the boards. He unfortunately gor hit when he was vunerable. Hockey is a fast sport and these things have and will happen again.
rulinghabs 1 year ago
perfectly fine hit, when someone gets hurt like that, the refs can't really get away without making some sort of call. That's how it always works, the guy made a mistake, didn't look up, he got hammered. Everyone's hoping for the best, that's hockey for ya.

The most shocking thing about this video is the kid picking his nose at the end.
sjgog 1 year ago

Get rid of the head shots in hockey. No contact to the head!
10rebal 1 year ago
there is nothing wrong with that hit, iv known brad since elementary school, always a competitor, but would never mean to hurt someone, and with that said there was not charge he was coasting but when i player goes down like that the refs don't really have a choice.
bigburt07 1 year ago
So here's the deal. It was a penalty because of the WCHA's stance on contact to the head. It wasn't dirty though. He was going for the hit when Marting put his head down. As a side note, it doesn't do anybody any good for people to yell and scream that this person is bad, or that this team is dirty. Hockey is a rough game, and accidents happen. But its just a game, and thats what we all need to remember.

clean hit and thats that. I don't even think that was charging. Malone was coasting when he hit Martin. 6-8, HR 61
A player shall not target and make contact with an opposing player's head or neck area in any manner (including but not limited to the shoulder, stick, elbow, etc.) or force the head of an opposing player into the protective glass, boards or goal cage.
PENALTY-- Major and a game misconduct or disqualification at the discretion of the referee.
magnamaduin 1 year ago
The committee reminds coaches and players that the responsibility remains with the player making the hit to avoid contact with the head and neck area of an opposing player. Any contact which directly targets the player's head and neck area must be penalized with major penalty and a game misconduct or disqualification. A player delivering a check to an unsuspecting and vulnerable player puts themselves in jeopardy of being penalized under this rule.

This is one of those moments that any hockey player fears but understands as one of the dangers of our sport. How about we grow up and support both of these young men as both of these guys are going to need everyone
