  • So when i rebuilt my clutch which i have the same clutch pretty much being that its off of a 98 Ski Doo Summit 670X, when i went to align the timing marks from the arrow on the governor cap to the seperate half that attaches to the crank, i couldn't get the arrow and the notch to mate exactly perfectly across from each other. It will only mate one tooth off to the right or the left.....the question i have is....is this normal? Thanks!

  • @hawk7900

yep, can be off like 11 oclock to 12 oclock

  • @mxzxRevzone which is better; off to the 11 or 12 ? or does it really matter? and I sorry we would love it if you were to make a vid explaining the spring colors and ratios for those.....read it on your website but its quite confusing to green horns like myself!! Thanks for the response!!

  • @hawk7900 you said (we would love it if you were to make a vid explaining the spring colors and ratios )

i dont know what you mean by ratios. ratios of what? always best to email me as i hate the message service here, it completely sucks

  • @hawk7900 go to my website and the top right hand corner is the contact box, get a hold of me there.

  • Clutch Tools available at C-T Powersports

  • Hey i have a 2000 mxz 700. The last ride of the year my clutch locked up and my primary wont open any idea what is wrong with it.

  • 5/8 redi rod

  • Joe, what is the size of that threaded rod your using to remove the spring? I wanna make one myself.thanks

  • @mxzxRevzone Could you make a video on the flyweights?

  • Thanx for the video all good info. Can you tell me if the part off of a 1996 MXZ are compatable to a 1999 Grand Touring? My local dealer/shop doesn't seem to know. Both 583's. I need the wrecked MXZ for parts. Thanx again, from Niagara falls, NY.

  • Man, we use to pop both the primary and secondary off twice a week to tune and clean and never had any of these special tools except for the puller itself. Sure woulda been a lot easier with these!! Nice job.

  • Hey, i got a quick question. What does changing the springs out do to the performace of it?

  • @skidoosummit2010

It depends on what you want to do, what do you want to achieve in the calibration - then can decide what spring to change to.

Like say the primary spring is a 280/420 and can go to a 260/420 if you want to lower the engagement by 200 rpms.

    joey

  • @mxzxRevzone

    Thanks for the help

  • where did you buy the fork looking tools for the buttons?

  • great video i learned alot. i was also wondering if you have changed a cylinder sleeve, i need to change mine in my 99 mxz 600, i've read you just need to heat up the jug in an oven and it will come out but i'de like to see somone do it first before i atept it.

  • I have done that a few times. Heat the cylinder up in an oven then with gloves on tap the liner out using a chunk of wood.

  • Okay...I take it all back! After trying to put the clutch back together last night...outer half would not pass over the shaft!. Took the clutch back to dealer this morning...got a call from them...seems the mechanic "installed the bushing incorrectly"...and now I've got to wait another week for them to order another and hopefully install correctly this time. So much for "not doing it yourself"...man...

  • i could watch him all day ha ha well layed back

  • just like downtown

  • nicely done.

  • What are your plans for a TRA III? Would love to see some on here, particularly the secondary.

  • For the HPV-27 secondary I have 2 videos.

Stuck helix on shaft - how to remove

    Belt removal trick

    thanks for asking

  • Hey there,

Just wondering if you could give me some tips / tricks on installing the "outer half" kahrlon clutch bushing on a '95 TRA? Press, flare tool, retaining compound? Thanks for any help.

  • I used a press to put them in before but you will have grief trying to find bushing that will fit.

Almost better to find another used primary clutch on ebay motors.

  • Bought the OEM bushing ($80), some Loctite 609 retaining compound...thought I could do it myself, but read all of the horror stories about do-it-yourself install problems (ruining the bushing)...ended up taking it to the local dealer, and had them press it in and flare it. Wish I could have done it myself...hate having to rely on someone else. Thanks for the info. Just a note...the replacement bushing is Teflon coated now...not the Kahrlon anymore...
