  • oh my.....sweeeeeeeeeeeeet

  • WOW!

    that's simply amazing....

    but what EXACTLY is this?

  • this is really amazing. its like seeing with your ears....or hearing with your eyes...or something.

    really cool!

  • booooom

  • 0:40 minor 3rd

    0:48 major 3rd

    0:52 perfect 4th

    0:55 perfect 5th

    1:01major 6th

    1:03 minor 7th

    1:09 octave

  • you better be carefull, or you will ripp a hole in something, lol.

  • infinity!

  • string theory!? what!? no way! as above, so below. great video!

  • cool

  • now i got an erge to tune my guitar and maybe see somthing more in it!?

    lol

this is really cool man :D

  • hey how do you do the experiment? it looks really sweet

  • hey thanks for the interest. click on "More Info" above for a link to a page with more of an explanation on it (i just added the link).

  • What type of synthesizer were you using?

  • a small analog modular (doepfer) with 2 oscillators in it.

  • that machine probably produces enough power to cause nuclear fusion on a massive scale in the right hands. It also explains our entire universe yet noone knows

  • Creepy!

  • Hi seventhharmonic,

    thats a really good demo..

    was it using a Synth?

    cheers

  • This is the coolest shit ever.

  • OMG this proves string theory :O jk

  • very nice. I would like to have seen it hang out on the tritone (b5) a little longer. but i really enjoyed the 3Hrz or so cycle at the very end.

"All Discord not understood" according to a pope one time very long ago. the erratic nature of the wave form proves it.

some cool patterns in between the minor 6th and minor 7th of the gliss.

    good job, nice to see!

  • hey lanerant, thanks for the comments. i was thinking of Schoenberg saying something like (paraphrased) we should view consonance and dissonance as not opposed, but greater and lesser degrees of comprehensibility. Hmmm.. to add to that, perhaps we could even think of the area of chaos theory and see dissonance as a bifurcation point.

  • can you elaborate more on how you set up the experiment?

  • right on man...that is pretty cool...

  • love it

  • what are we watching here, an oscilliscope?

  • nope... it's in the description: Lissajous patterns made with 2 audio oscillators, a loud amplifier, plastic wrap, a bowl, and a laser pointer.

  • this is my favorite of the sound patterns that I've done.. some of the others suffer alot from the video compression, but this one turned out well in streaming video. INFINITY...oooooo :)

  • twisting infinity! pretty clever, huh? ;)

  • [geek]that type of pattern, the "infinity" symbol, is not a man-made conception. in other words, WE got it from elsewhere and turned it into a representation... the patterns in this video have nothing to do with our concept of infinity (though kinda neat, eh?). it's generative - the pattern's in the material (i didn't put it there), i'm just playing with it.[/geek]

  • fantastic!

  • Definitely!

  • Superstring baby :D

  • Great!
