I had been re-training a 6yr old, 17 3hh TB mare (chestnut to boot!) to jump (her original owner yanked her in the mouth each time so she hollowed and pulled her head up each time) and she was jumping the double beautifully, but when i got on the stinky pony would she go over?? i slid all the way down the - knocked over - wing after she refused the first time. She jolly well went over it the second time! gotta love their attitude!
Such tricky little ponies. Most of my friends agree most ponies can be tougher to handle then their horses. Great job in staying on most of the time. ^-^

Great jumping! something my instructor told me which I found quite useful was not to sit foward until you really feel the pony taking off, because if they refuse you're gonna go flying over the pony's ears! Gorgeous ponies though! x

ponies can be sooo stubborn. good riding here. most of the stops were because the riders closed the angle of their hip before the pony was going to take off of the ground. just a tip, hold ur shoulders until you are sure the pony will take off, it also encourages the pony to go. good video

Yeah ok brag all you like, but not everyone is an amazing rider. I think these girls have guts to be putting video's on here where they know they can be critisised. there is no need for all those nasty comments. the riders clearly can ride, they are jumping a descent height its not as if its wee small 70cm fenses. my mare who is 16.2 and is now 10year old and we broke her in ourselves, she buckes after fences when we jump high and she is jumping 1.25m courses and is fantastic, she very rarely knocks her fences, so no need for nasty comments about the horses kicking out after jumping. the video is fab, dont listen to nasty comments, id like to c them riding

well that probs means that the others are crap. You cant possibly get all the basics right in that time. I have been riding for 10 years and have had 2 lessons a week for the last 4 years with a professional eventer who has done badminton and I still am nowhere near the best in my pony club and I still have a lot to learn

there's a horse called an American Curly, and there's Bashkir curlies, a lot of people that are allergic to horses have them. their fur is hypoallergenic.

Tbh not all showjumpers that are brought for a lot of money are that good, they can jump yeah but they refuse a hell of a lot, the riders expect them to go over it so don't do any riding cept' the position or urning them in to tight circles. I'd rather get a pony that hasn't been trained to jump and train it, then it would be you riding, and you'd be proud of you and your pony. My pony can jump high out of luck but gets spooked at a lot of jumps and dosn't do combinations but i'm training him to

I agree. I'd rather train my own horse anyway, then spend thousands of dollars on a 'perfect' horse and not have any goal to work towards. You'll learn more doing it yourself, the bond with your horse is stronger, and the problems and hiccups along the way will make you stronger too.
Yes, My horse was 100$ and knew nothing. She was trained to saddle and ride and be a calm horse and I could not even canter for the 1st year and now i am jumping and winning 1st places. =]
It doesn't matter what kind of horse, it just has to have good angles. C'mon I got my horse for free, and not from my parents, free from a person I never ever met. She sure ain't no superstar, but she gets me over safely. =]

I do like seeing a horse buck itself over the jump. It seems to have become the lastest fashion to ride a stride in the saddle then one out then so on, onto the approach to the jump.. i fail to understand why
OH YEAH dude that white pony totally reminds me of my pony miles!!! he is like 14.2 and his favorite move ever is to buck while cantering and he like does it to where he is like full on into the showjumping course and like bucking while his front legs are still cantering. HAHA makes it really easy to stay on HAHAHA

sorry but that is complete rubbbish. I've got a horse that will sometimes stop and rear then sipin round at a simple cross pole. His teeth/back etc have been checked, he's not in pain and he's not frightened, he's jumped millions of crosspoles before. He's simply being naughty, and it's far better to tell the horse off so he know's it's unacceptable rather than let him get away with it 'because he's supposedly frightened'. Rearing is dangerous-end of.
agreed, a rearing horse needs to be sorted out ASAP. and if its rearing because it's naughty then it needs a good telling off (whip across the nose works pretty well lol)

not nessacarily true, yes they usually rear from fright, but not always. And... yes using crops, spurs, or just leg well urge them to move foward, which they must use all four feet to do...

ive riding school ponies and ive seen some that have alot of energy and alot of charecter, they dont seem unhappy to me

there is a pony at my local riding school and to me he is the perfect pony and he is a hit with the little kids and he tried to chuck me when i firset rode him ages ago but he taught me to sit to it so they do have a temprerment

Tbh not all showjumpers that are brought for a lot of money are that good, they can jump yeah but they refuse a hell of a lot, the riders expect them to go over it so don't do any riding cept' the position or urning them in to tight circles. I'd rather get a pony that hasn't been trained to jump and train it, then it would be you riding, and you'd be proud of you and your pony. My pony can jump high out of luck but gets spooked at a lot of jumps and dosn't do combinations but i'm training him to

yhoo dont have 2 be rich 2 have a good horse ! i have a horse and she is fantastic we aint rich.all you have to do is find the perfect horse for you and then school it how yhoo want it. ok maybe if you were rich you could by a really good horse but its not all about if ur rich or not. my mate she has a arab and she got her for £1000 and she has been in hoys.she aint rich you just have 2 train alot

I agree. I'd rather train my own horse anyway, then spend thousands of dollars on a 'perfect' horse and not have any goal to work towards. You'll learn more doing it yourself, the bond with your horse is stronger, and the problems and hiccups along the way will make you stronger too.

Yes, My horse was 100$ and knew nothing. She was trained to saddle and ride and be a calm horse and I could not even canter for the 1st year and now i am jumping and winning 1st places. =]

You dont have to be rich to have a good horse. i bought a really cheap one that couldnt be ridden, trained it and now he wins group 5 (1.10m)

It doesn't matter what kind of horse, it just has to have good angles. C'mon I got my horse for free, and not from my parents, free from a person I never ever met. She sure ain't no superstar, but she gets me over safely. =]

i agree this is an amzing video! most vids r ppl showing all the good things about riding/how much they love there ponies/how awesome there horses are, but its nice to see the downs too! and oneFineEquine420 i agree! all you ppl who have perfect ponies who never refuse or knock down jumps ^^^ thats the real life. and also the fun life. who wants a perfect pony? u want one that takes the mick out you so u can have fun! instead of 'model ponies' that are like robots!

I do like seeing a horse buck itself over the jump. It seems to have become the lastest fashion to ride a stride in the saddle then one out then so on, onto the approach to the jump.. i fail to understand why

OH YEAH dude that white pony totally reminds me of my pony miles!!! he is like 14.2 and his favorite move ever is to buck while cantering and he like does it to where he is like full on into the showjumping course and like bucking while his front legs are still cantering. HAHA makes it really easy to stay on HAHAHA

because then you are able to see where you messed up, where you did good, what you need to improve, etc. maybe something else spooked the horse that she couldnt see since she is concentrated on JUMPING and also to all those other snobby stuck up showgirls whose perfect ponies never refuse because they have no spirit and no personality whatsoever get over urselves!!! stop insulting other people because your riding SUCKS!!!! anyways i really liked this video i think its very cool.

ok firist off, to kiwigirl77, you dont EVER EVER EVER whip a horse across the nose, or on the face period!!!!! what the hell are you thinking??? would you like someone to come up to you and whip you across the face? NO and second of all i think this video is simply AWESOME not only because it shows the good parts of their practice but it also shows the complete fuck ups which is really good for watching later

sorry but that is complete rubbbish. I've got a horse that will sometimes stop and rear then sipin round at a simple cross pole. His teeth/back etc have been checked, he's not in pain and he's not frightened, he's jumped millions of crosspoles before. He's simply being naughty, and it's far better to tell the horse off so he know's it's unacceptable rather than let him get away with it 'because he's supposedly frightened'. Rearing is dangerous-end of.

agreed, a rearing horse needs to be sorted out ASAP. and if its rearing because it's naughty then it needs a good telling off (whip across the nose works pretty well lol)

that was great! but remember, a horse refuses or rears because he is scared, not coz he is bein naughty! so dont listen to peeps dat say wen ur horse rears, hit it or kick, coz it wont help at all!

not nessacarily true, yes they usually rear from fright, but not always. And... yes using crops, spurs, or just leg well urge them to move foward, which they must use all four feet to do...

ugh,a hate people tht laugh at people tht dnt do to wewl in vids n say "wot they should have done" okay firstly thts there instructors job not yours and secondly half of you leaving horrible comments are probably ten times worse n jst enjoy watching someone hav a bad day cause in some totally messed up way it makes you feel better! i feel sorry for the riders tht had the guts to do a show n then jst hav people like you laugh at them.
