  • He said interesting style often outweighs the subject, that's no excuse.

  • sounds a bit like cage

  • It's like you're talking through me ching chong.

  • rockin the 240p

  • good shit

  • Lol Aesop rock is just jimmy fallon with facial hair, bucket haaat, bucket haat

who wanna wear that bucket hat

  • @atomiccronic420 Haha. Except Aesop is not horrible at his profession.

  • 1:35- 1:50 the audio and video are just perfect

  • there is no such thing as real hip hop. it is all opinions. you sound like a bunch of old people. "back in my day we had real hip hop"

  • @mik0logy yeah der is a such thing as real hip hop stupid! thats just your opinion like you said!

  • @mik0logy When most people talk about 'real' hip-hop, they are talking about a certain kind of style and spirit to the music. The kind of artistic soul some of the originators had therefore in a lot of people's minds making it more 'real' or 'true' to the vibe of what hip-hop used to be about. That's not really an opinion, more of an observation of modern trends.

  • @FengShuicide well music evolves all the time, is it just supposed to stay the same like it is when it first starts? the music would get boring if it did that.

  • @mik0logy Of course it should change. Some people just think that if it changes enough, you should call it something else.

  • anyone ever think he kinda looks like Jimmy Fallon in a way?

  • "He couldn't get in and he couldn't get by"

  • This is the song that got me into Aes and got me back into Hip Hop.

  • Aesop just made a killer instrumental for a new film called 'Dewana's Bridal', peep my channel to hear it.

This is a never sub disco.

  • DOOOD Aes just puked on me!

  • i wish people would stop talking about rap like its a competition to know sick emcees the mc makes music for themselves we listen to it love it and study it if we are mcs or musicians ourselves other then that just listen to the message and hip hop is about blending its kind of like how America was a melting pot that's hip hop

  • another dope song by aesop... "He couldnt get in and he couldnt get out.. mad good lyrics and meanings as always.

  • @Whitewidow440 everything sounded ok till the real gangsta rap in your blood part take that out little bro

  • @Whitewidow440 Ok, I'm tired of you jackasses. Read the original argument. A 15yr old kid was trying to give us all a lesson on hip-hop. I don't give a shit if you're 9 don't try and act high and mighty. Jesus Christ what is with dumbass commenters who don't even know what the argument was and then try to intervene. So yeah I don't give a shit what age you are, pat yourself on the back then move on.

  • @Whitewidow440 i never really got into tribe but i been listening to immortal technique for several years. might i mind you i don't only listen to this type of music. screaming and punching my fist through walls type of music is my favorite. i dig all of this thoguh.

  • @Whitewidow440 what about Grieves or Atmosphere, Common Market or Macklemore? stay in school.

  • 3:29-3:39 IMA FIRIN MAH LAZER!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Reminds me of kid Cudis vid for day n nite.

  • 29 people searched "Lil wayne" after watching this video.

  • his lyrics are so sickkk

  • their is no way someone in middle school can feel this shit hahahaha

  • @losttweaty you really shouldnt doubt people in middle school.

  • @Monix213 respect .

  • @losttweaty Yupp :]

  • @losttweaty I find it hard to beleive anyone could not feel this shit.

  • aesop rock: one of the select few rappers that i respect

  • Was that El-P?

  • Is it just me or did Kid Cudi bite some ideas from this for his Day and Night video?

  • @jessamynjo I like that he did, Kid Cudi is tight. Good artists inspire other good artists yo.

  • @jessamynjo i dont think kid cudi understands aesop rock's superiority enough to emulate him.

  • @jessamynjo No lie, Cudi got a LOT of his style frm the whole Def Jux camp

  • @jessamynjo Is it just me or who the hell is Kid Cudi ?

  • @Lambsbreathbud420 Nah, I also don't have a clue.

  • it's nice to see young kids rockin the aesop rock instead of mainsteam garbage but can you all shut the fuck up trying to back up your hip hop rep. goddamn your worse than kids who listen to black metal. you guys are all loving some sick music can't you all just get along and jam the tunes

  • This dude Aesop always has the wierdest misic videos

  • "He couldn't get in, and he couldn't get out." Lool!

  • @uromastx bad music makes you throw up and cry? faggot

  • great video! BAZOOKA TOOTH, BITCH!!!

  • Aesop you can be my dentist any day

  • Haha, OMG kid cudi TOTALLY Jocked aesop rock. tht mainstream bitch.

  • @CarissaKanibal13 cause of the video? oorrr...? haha and if so are you sure its not the same director...? he would be the real bitch... haha

  • the hook is prosperous son!

  • the beats nice the rapping isn't i kinda wish i liked it

  • "you should've shot yourself in the foot when it was in your mouth"

  • You guys...don't even try to attempt rapping Aesop Rock's rhymes, you will be tongue twisted and miss a lot of words. Believe me!!! I tried attempting none shall pass, and this song.

It's really not easy...I don't know how Aesop does it man. I give him props, I like his diverse complex rhymes.

  • tryd 2 get into him juss tht voice is 2 wack and b.e.n.e.f.i.t is better anyay

juss look up so sick by benefit

  • The REAL Aesop was African

  • @murkserious1600 Wrong. He was an ancient Greek author, from around 620 B.C. All his stories were written to highlight a specific moral. He was Bulgarian if anything. Now, next time you cry Wolf, make sure you are telling the truth, or this big bad wolf is going to find you, and viciously correct you again.

  • aesop rock is a nice vacation from the whack ass bitch-hop on the radio

  • @RegDupree bro, if your sayin its a vacation from the bitch ass hip hop, you obviously are entwined with that bitch ass hip hop all the time. quit listenin to real hip hop if you dont styand for it. word up.

  • @RegDupree The shit on the radio is the vacation from the hard work it takes for those fans to comprehend music like this.

  • @RegDupree

    perfectly phrased

  • Aesop Rock and Del Tha Funkee Homosapien have similar flows imo

    both great

  • @KingVirmire del syncs with the beat more. and blockhead/aes beats are so off beat that aes's off beat rapping just makes it harder to feel rhythm.

  • @KingVirmire Agreed, but differing styles; you can 1) actually understand Del (don't get me wrong, I love Aesop) and 2) you can actually tell what Del's talking about without using too much brainpower, again, not that having to interpret lyrics is a bad thing, on the contrary, I enjoy it.

  • @vitunpaskiainen Del's I wish my brother George was here, was so BEAT heavy and had so much funk and it is just a classic piece of work! i love how track 6 on that starts!! I like Aesop but he's so ALL OVER the place, makes me sense to rap along with the beat like deL! i love finding old school hip hop on here, and newer stuff that sounds like the old school! KEEP OLD SCHOOL ALIVE HOMIES!

  • @KingVirmire OMFG YOU KNOW BOTH; i love you.

  • SICK TRACK.

  • hahah cocky 13y ol fuck talks about flow and rap techniques.. thanks for explaning the game to us!

  • this is the only song (that i know of) aesop rock actually sold out.

  • how can anybody say aesop has no rhyme scheme? he's just educated and raps about real stuff. open up your mind.

  • @McLure2 PREACH, I like your style

  • @McLure2 the stack of 4 rhyming syllables alone is more creative than most MCs whole tracks. this is Another aes track w/hard to follow context where big vocab isn't just used in the rhyme scheme.

Hung off the balcony by the skin off his doctor's psyche.

He hopes it holds but knows the locusts kamikaze nightly.

He woke corroded buggy facial insect chopper biting.

He's only bones by the time the ungodly body's sighted...

  • lol ya el-p is the surgeon, he need jesus... whos the black dude tho? genesis ? i have no idea

  • Is that El-p as the surgent? Mad bumpin' track from one of the illest on the mic!

  • @IllnosticTV LMFAO is aesop too complex because he doesn't rap about xbox 360's and condoms? i wonder why he's one of the biggest names in indie rap and you're a goofy looking kid with a youtube channel... go finish high school lol

  • @IllnosticTV How does a kid who hasn't finished middle school know REAL hip-hop.lol

  • @oldrippy0024 what does middle school have to do with hip hop?

  • @oldrippy0024 Because no matter how old you are you still have ears....

  • @oldrippy0024 I would like to think iDo... I'm here aren't I?

  • @oldrippy0024 man i was listening to erick sermon and redman when i was 8 anything is possible

  • @oldrippy0024 I'm 14 & I'm a true Hip-Hop head you just gotta look for us we are da future.

  • @WyattFromThe314 Thats my problem. You are not the futut\re. You are some kid who listens to hip-hop don't get high and mighty nobody cares. I love hip-hop but would never think i was cool because of it. Like I say to others pat yourself on the back and move on.

  • @oldrippy0024 I'm not stating I'm cool, I'm stating the young demographic who listens to intelligent music will be the future to bringing good music back to civilization.

  • @oldrippy0024 me dude!

  • @oldrippy0024 I did back then.

  • @oldrippy0024 im pretty sure he did, and graduated from boston university

  • @iroquoischiefs36 What are you talking about? Try to elaborate next time it will help.

  • @oldrippy0024 well im only a norwegian 12 years old kid.

  • @whyshouldyouknowme Again, a dumbass peson who doesn't even know the argument chimes in. The reason I said that was this young kid was trying to school everyone on hip-hop. I don't care if you're 5 yrs. old. Listening to hip-hop does not make you cool, or a revolutionary. You're just a kid with good taste in music. I love underground but would never think I was smarter or cooler for listening to it.

  • @IllnosticT you're so e-famous dawg, i wish i was that raw

  • @IllnosticTV Aesop takes influence from old school hip hop

his goal is to tell a story through poetry, all hiphop should be is a beat added to that poetry, it flows in a unique way. He as of right now, IS the embodiment of real hiphop, his flow is pure, is beat fits in just ow it was intended to

  • @IllnosticTV BAHAHA..BAHAHAHAHAHA... i like your jokes

  • @IllnosticTV disgusting, if we compare subscribers to money, ur just exploiting the general ignorance to moral just like mainstreamer bastards simply boasting for a few minutes

  • @IllnosticTV Child, look up MOP, Geto Boys, Run DMC, Suger-Hill Gang, NWA, GAngstarr, Kurtis Blow, Big Daddy Kane, Public Enemy... and way much more and do your homework on where hip-hop came from before you judge other people's flow. There is nothing old school about Kanye.

  • @IllnosticTV his songs have more meaning than anyone else, listen to the lyrics.

Aesop was voted the most intelligent rapper.

  • @tbopne

actually he just says shit in a very abstractly fly way. his subject matter isn't different from anyone else's.

he even says that if you listen to facemelter.

  • @IllnosticTV Can tell if troll...

  • @IllnosticTV I hope you develop your musical taste at some point in your life. It'd be a crying shame if someone who claimed to understand hip hop - let alone music - didn't appreciate artists such as slug, eyedea, aesop rock and illogic.

  • Love Aesop..one of my favorite tracks. Check out the book, "How to Rap" - Aesop is featured in the book ...will improve your rapping skills

  • i love this. but it makes me spit jibberish when i try to sing it. hahaha

  • @iKonified dont compare this to shakespear you hopeless tool, this is an average to good rap act shakespeare on the other hand invented a vast amount of the english language and was such an important wordsmith he will be studied for hundreds of years to come. Perhaps even thousands like Homer.

Aesop is comparable to Martin Luther King in that they both regularly use the word brothers to describe people they relate to and Ghandi in that neither have shot anybody.

    what a vacuous statement

  • Anyone else get reminded of illmaculate when you look at aes?

  • Man I fucking love Aesop, but mostly don't even get the shit he's saying. Any1 got any hints to decode the shit he says?

  • @Creap0fluigi go to school

  • @KingKong11d6 Alright, and whats the next step, helpful gentleman!

  • @Creap0fluigi ya know just get baked and let the lyrics flow into your mind

  • @KingKong11d6 good call

  • video reminds me of day n nite

  • love aesop

  • anti-chosm7799moving eligha .. .

  • I read everybodies comments and I just don't understand. Who cares if people like him or not. I know that everybody needs to express their opinion over the internet, but please just listen to the song and enjoy it. That's why we look up music on youtube anyways right?

  • lol looks like my dentist

  • The thing about good music like this, is that it kills a lot of music for me. I can't even stand hearing more than a few sentences from most rappers after listening to Def Jux and Rhymesayers shit. Some of the stuff I used to listen to... I don't even understand why I listened to it.

  • I can't understand anything this guy says.

  • @Rowsol84 that's because it requires more than just being awake. aesop actually requires mental effort to understand, but if you arent willing to put forth such a strenuous exertion, i understand.

  • @nevernateofkamal You're right, it requires a lyrics sheet.

  • @nevernateofkamal

you mean it requires more than being ASLEEP, it requires being awake. Much of mainstream music is designed to hypnotize you and implant phrases and desires.

  • I use to think Eminem was a good rapper. But the messages he gives in his songs are complete bullshit.

  • @S0ulWrought eminem was the shit when i was 10 and had no idea what real hiphop is... he was something i jus grew out of a long time ago.

i need some headphones to really get what aesops sayin

  • this whole thing just looks like a normal day in the life of myself.

  • Bazooka works Dentistry. Big bad bazookatooth come to break bread?

  • Listen to Don't Follow Me by Thought Product

  • aesop lyrics are like poetry. its done in an abstract way where it can mean different things to different people. i could go through every aesop rock line and tell you what i think it means. is it what he meant when he wrote it? maybe not. but thats not what matters. youre SUPPOSED to get your own meaning. except from phrases like "YOU SHOULDA SHOT YOURSELF IN THE FOOT WHEN IT WAS IN YOUR MOUTH." thats pretty goddamn straight forward.

  • @LtWinter almost exactly what i have wanted to post for a while

  • I CAN NOT understand his fucking lyrics, which really frustrates me because I like his sound a lot.

  • "What did Rick Ross ever do to change the world"--Aesop R.

  • haha Shakespeare. Two completely different things. This is ok for what it is. Its all about taste. For me I'm just not a fan of the beats, the way he sounds, or the lyrics. It comes off a little pretentious and convoluted. For me hip hop has never been about having to listen to something 5, 10, and 20 times to get what they mean lyrically. I like to know where I stand from the start. I don't think Aesop Rock are bad at all. Give me champion sound and a blunt any day of the week. :)

  • bazooka works

    tooth

he's going to his connects house to get the ketamine

to bring back shit we've never seen

    ramblings of a dead jesus

as long as it pleased us the respect makes everything even

    FREEZE

he couldn't get in and he couldn't get higher

  • lol anyone think that Kid Cudi took this shit?....The cartoon looks? Maybe someone already commented on this, but I thought I'd point it out again haha

  • @plwl19 lmfao nigga. just because their video are a little similar doesnt mean he took it. what if Cudi never listened to Aesop. you gotta look it at it on both sides

  • @faceofdabay I'm not saying Cudi copied it with a negative connotation dude. I'm saying (expressing my thoughts as words) "Hey, now I realize Cudi's music video wasn't as original as I thought it was." Thinking with words man, chill

  • Aesop is a JK Rowling FAN. While your breaking down his lyrics maybe you should absorb some. HMMMM....

  • lol on the stoner logic

  • Haha listen to you turds compare aesop to shakespeare... you would prolly blow him too if you seen him... aesop is dope when you are stoned and your just tryin to figure out what the fuck he is talking about. other than that anyone can speak a bunch of jibberish on top of a unique beat, aesop was just the first to do it and anyone else that tried would just be a lame biter. Aesop is laughin all the way to the bank with you nerds trying to sound intellectual when describing his likeness to shakes

  • @cheezinfattys lol. metaphors, and satire are no "jibberish", you're just an ignorant uneducated fuck.

  • you know what u just said is really true and thats why i gave u a thumbs up, but what would you say about cats admiring eyedea, i mean he this incredible talent for rap, that i personally feel no other rapper is comparable

  • @cheezinfattys real fucking talk

  • @cheezinfattys i agree with ya 100%

  • @cheezinfattys aseop would be ashamed that someone as ignorant as u even listen to his music...

  • @cheezinfattys retard

  • That's kinda funny, this was a related on apathy - the winter. But, hearin aes is never a bad thing.

  • Aesop is comparable to Shakespeare actually as they are both social commentators stuck in their own social context. Shakespeare was as controversial during his time as much for his portrayal of women as being as strong as men as rappers like Aesop (Rhymesayers and the like) are today for their portrayal of dirty urban culture. They are both satirists of their current socio-political landscape and of course that will not sit well with many contemporaries.

  • /agree

  • @iKonified shakespeare sucks ass tho and aesop is amazing

  • Fuck shakespeare. Can we move on and talk about some writers from our own generation please people? Go compare something else to ancient fucking history please.

  • @theconspiratordivine ok kid. aesop's metaphors are as deep and all encompassing as any work kurt vonnegut ever did. or were you referring to jk rowling or that twilight crap? idiot

  • @iKonified poof

  • @iKonified you've made a good point but its annoying when people overcomplicate stuff like you just did

  • @iKonified WOw dude... You have too much time on your hands..

  • @Jeromegill1 thats sad to not truly understand alot of what he says and the ground he breaks that no other will follow in he is comparable to Francis Bacon aka Shakespear

  • @iKonified Shakespeare was comissioned by royalty most of the time(in 1603 his theatrical company received a royal patent from James I) and he therefore satirised very little. The women in his plays are often portrayed as strong, but are always punished or returned to their rightful place (lady Macbeth, Ariel, Ophelia) .

  • @iKonified beautifully illustrated bud

  • @iKonified Sadly he'll never be as well-known as Shakespeare.

  • @iKonified The chance in todays rapscene to stumble upon an intelligent mark about an intelligent rapper is very sparse. Being a german, I'm pretty happy to see quality rap have a comeback here, since there is legit amount of rappers the quality of Aesop here in Germany. Can you give any kind of similar outlook for the US scene?
