  • Mike, have you worked at all on a traditional German Wheel before trying this Cyr (sp?variety? I might be able to introduce you to a friend of mine ( ticklemeangie on youtube) if her schedule permits.

  • I have not but I've heard conflicting reports of how much German wheel skill transfers over to Cyr. I'd love to learn some German wheel stuff if I have the opportunity but they are big and difficult to transport so buying my own is out of the question. When I break this down into 3 pieces, I can carry my wheel and juggling bag on my bike.

  • lol

  • This seems like such a dumb idea - Mike, is it really worth it? I suppose it's cool once it works, and it's good exercise, but come on - all that pain? I wouldn't bother. It's very cool to watch though... just not something I would consider worthwhile for myself ;-)

  • Oh and I did not laugh. You need pretty inherently hilarious situations to make me find pain funny. Not that others can't find this entertaining though! Well, I did enjoy watching, but not because I like seeing others crash and burn.. more because that wheel is such an interesting... thing.

  • Meaning, if you can get more footage of some training with this thing, that would be pretty cool :-D

  • Will do, hopefully since I'm at the beginning of the learning curve, I'll improve quickly for some time and progress will be quick and snappy.

  • Yes it is worth it, I am stubborn as all hell.

  • Cool! How do you not crush your fingers?

  • Open your palms like a cartwheel. It's less of a problem than you might thing, especially compared to the other problems I have (see the video).

  • haha

  • ouch! that looks fun!

  • Hahaha, nice!

But I do guess that it's difficult, so I shouldn't laugh....

  • I've always been jealous of people with cyr wheels as I've always wanted to play with one.... Never really considered the learning curve =).

I guess a mat is out of the question, probably doesn't work too well with the wheel eh?

    Keep it up! =)

  • I too never considered the learning curve before purchasing this wheel. I mean it's definitely not the least pleasant thing I've ever done but it's up there.
