Nice project and well done! I'm not a fan of pine, I usually only use if for shed shelves and firewood, however for this application it is probably fine being covered with either stain or paint. The dowel joints you made were fine, biscut joints can be a pain and are not much stronger. Elmers and dowel has worked great for me for many years. One tool you might want to check out is a Kreig pocket hole jig, not super expensive and super neat. It's great for face frames. Nice vid thanx!
