I love your videos- cinematography, hair aesthetics, and how-to combined. Youtube needs an Oscar category, right? Or it's own awards (unless it already does....). You'd win for soundtrack, picture, and script. Wish me luck as try this one! Thanks for your work.
@misscorleonexoxo I use a vented 'Conair' brush from Wal Mart and yes, you can do this with long hair but it will be a little more difficult to achieve the volume. Ilovegerardo has a 'burlesque' hairstyle for very long hair that might be easier for you. :)
I really adore this look on you it's very glamorous and it suits you well the clip was a nice touch to bring it all together. Love your videos there very informative. I seem to be having difficulty with pin curls I would love to be good at I just don't have the time to practice and my hair is long so it takes a while. Thanks for all you show us it's fabulous!
i swear to god if i had your hair i would never wear a ponytail, you can do ANYTHING.... and with such ease is what baffles me lol i love your vids but i fail every time LMAO ok well not every time ;)
thanks so much for this video!! i am such an idiot!!! i cut my hair and i got realy i mean ra\ealy short layers at the top, now i can't do this hair styles any more!!! : (
please do a video on basic pin curls. :( I continue doing them and they end up.. erm... poofing out? i guess. hahaha. I dont know if I'm doing it wrong or if its because of my current(slowly growing back out) hair cut.
Also, what do you do for a living? just curious. :D
This look is gorgeous, you truely are a master of vintage styles. However, I'm afraid you are mistaken about the pic, it's actually a French actress named Corinne Calvet, although she does look remarkably like Anita Eckberg.
Are you certain? That is frustrating because I pride myself in knowing faces. I also checked the photo by various sources and all of them have this listed as Anita Eckberg. :(
Oh, well I could be wrong! But that photo appears on a blog named Film Noir Photos as Corinne Calvet and it also pops up quite a lot on Google Images when you search for her. It could be a case of mistaken identity though!
Oh dear, I am afraid you are right. I will make the necessary changes. Thanks SO MUCH for letting me know. I am such a stickler for historical accuracy too...*sigh*
In any case, it makes no difference to the superb quality of your tutorial! I hope you don't think I'm being nit-picky or anything, I honestly wouldn't have known any different if I hadn't just happened to be looking at that blog and see that same photo.
Oh sweetie, neve apologize for correcting me....I would never want to appear not to care about important facts like that. Corrine Calvet fans would be apalled if I left it alone. haha
Yes they are. More so than other rollers since they are so small. Now if your hair is super short, there may be issues w/ keping them in and if that is the case, I just recommend using a small barrell curling iron. :)
You can do it w/ long hair too...the result will be even more elaborate. If you don't have hot sticks, I recommend sponge or pillow rollers for this style. Pincurls would also work.
LIsa Lisa Lisa, is there anything you can't do? You are a true guru with the different methods you use to get just the right type of curl.....my goodness...I need a few minutes to get over it!!!
I wish you would write the name of the songs you use in your vids in the sidebar though, cause there are alot that I really like, but don't know what they are....
Ashley, if you don't mind telling me, what is the style of your hair cut? I thought you had a video about a haircutting/styling book on hair lengths but I can't find it. My hair is long, down to the middle of my back and when I curl my hair now, the volume is getting to be too much. I like the volume you get with your length of hair, especially with this video and the Dorothy Dandridge vid. The feather is just gorgeous by the way!
My haircut is featured in my video entitled 'The Middy Haircut'. It is the same cut, only grown out somewhat. You really just need a good layered cut and in your case, some thinning may be necessary. Purchase the book I feature in my video to get the accurate diagram and take it to your stylist as a reference.
You are so incredibly gorgeous, thank you so much for your wonderful reviews and tutorials! They have become my favorite videos to watch! Please keep them coming.
Thanks for the doing these. I always love your videos. Could you make the font a little bolder next time for the instructions? I had a hard time reading it with the video. Hope you are doing well.

what decade is this? I'm doing a play, can it be 1930s? Thanks!
tiklemeangi 1 year ago
@tiklemeangi no this style is more 1950's than 30's. :) If you left the crown flat and pinned it under into a bob, it would work for the 30's.
