The original inuyasha anime had 167 episodes (ever finished them all?) and it stopped going because they were too close to the manga. Now that the manga is finished, they decided to release 26 more episodes to finish the story. It's not dubbed yet, but you can see it subbed on hulu and such.

Not to mention Dave, he was awesome in the cartoons, but awful in the movie.
