They were a brilliant indie rock band broke up shortly after the tour with death cab for cutie, which also saw the exit of Michael Schorr. Kind of like superchunk, archers of loaf etc.
Hey everyone... Death Cab used to play Blacking out the Friction with a cover of some sort sang towards the end whenever the played it live. They've done this with many songs... including "Brand New Love", Elliott Smith's "Say Yes" (The night after his death, RIP), and in this case it's Joy Divisioin's "Atmosphere". :)
I hate to tell you buddy but it's are you invited i have a live set from the death & dismemberment tour and it's near the same except they play the full song by the dismemberment plan
Hi there! If you check this site (it used to be GREAT for keeping up with DCFC), you can actually see the set from this very night. Go to tour history, and then hit 2001 and hit "info" next to the one at the VERY bottom. This is from "Graceland" as it says, and it is in FACT "Blacking out the Friction > Atmosphere". The lyrics match if you've ever heard Joy Division's "Atmosphere" or if you've ever heard the D-plan's "Are You Invited?" you should know those aren't the words benny is singing. :)
yes correct the john byrd version is from the drive well tour which was 2004 this is 2001 michael schorr was still in the band and this was dismemberment plan song not brand new love, i love the breaking of his voice during the end. brings tears.
What ofbestfit meant was that the song on the end of this version isn't "Brand New Love". It's a piece of "You Are Invited" by The Dismemberment Plan.
I actually think it's you a shortened version of you are invited by the dismemberment plan i have a live cd and then meld blacking out the friction around that time, michael was an amazing drummer perfect for the photo album.

No, Ben wrote "Blacking Out the Friction".
What ofbestfit meant was that the song on the end of this version isn't "Brand New Love". It's a piece of "You Are Invited" by The Dismemberment Plan.

the reason you think there is an improvement at the end is because this is the brand new love version. you can find it on the john byrd e.p.
