Watching anything on here with David really makes you miss him. "Street Gang" and its reports on how he really was is not an easy read, so it's best to just watch these and simply remember him as David, as we all should.
Does anyone else have the other open/closed Sesame Street skit that David did with a door only? Instead of saying open and closed in english, he says it in spanish which is cerrado (closed) and abierto (open). If anyone has this skit, could you please post it onto YouTube?
"Carnage" which is a 1984 movie directed by Andy Milligan about a house with household objects that move on their own and kill the newly-wed couple there to get them to leave.
I remember that skit. That skit was where 2 men were going to bed in the winter where it was snowing and back and forth one man would open the window and the other man would close the window. Then at the end, the man who would open the window told the other man that he will keep the window closed. (The house didn't break down on it's own). The man who opened the window took out an axe and broke down all the walls of the house leaving both men outside their house while in their bed.
I remember that one. It was funny. The man who wanted the window open didn't use an axe though. It was more like a giant mallet. I'm not quite sure who played them. At the time I didn't think it was any of the show's regulars who did. Anyway I'd love to see it again and relive the memory.
@WildBillKMan I remember that open/closed clip. It was so funny! The 1st man came into the bedroom and opened the window then the 2nd man came in the bed room and closed the window.
I know. It was just quicker to say it the other way. But you're right---technically he left the show on his own and died a few months later.
The guy clearly had some deep issues. He snapped and went completely crazy one night in 1980. It only lasted one night, but it's right around that time that you can see his health and demeanor start to change---apparantly it was all downhill from there. Whatever was going on in his head, it couldn't have helped other aspects of his failing health.

Where was the invisible string to open that door I wonder!
Or a crew member off screen was opening that door.
What about the window?

Whatever mischevious spirit that's screwing with David here is the same spirit that always likes to give Goofy a hard time. ;]

It is a shame, David was a pretty fun guy, and no less missed than Mr. Hooper.

My parents knew him a little. They were all in the same acting class together in the early '70s.
They were the ones who told me that he died, which suddenly made it clear to 7-year-old me just why "David" had "moved to his grandmother's farm."

That's interesting!
Even though it's sad, it's kind of cool that you were more informed on the subject than the rest of us.

Actually, he left the show because of his health. Since he was leaving anyway, they wrote him off the show. Unfortunately he passed away soon after.

I read the book "Street Gang," and they told more about Calloway.
It really was sad, because I do remember seeing him at a young age in the early 80's on SS, and he always seemed like such a great guy.
1:08- I love his 'a-ha-ha,' like they're starting to get to him.

@mightyfilm Actually it was mentioned in the 2008 publication that he was let go because of his behavior.
I didn't read the book but someone typed up a piece from the book on the IMDB message boards in his section.

Dumb and silly! Maybe David would have done better showing the door for OPEN and the window for CLOSED?
