How to transfer data from a ps3 to another

Ok I have to fix my old fat 60gb ps3 because it has gotten the ylod several times now, first: how long does it take to transfer because idk how long my ylod ps3 will last and second: if I hook them both up to one tv, which one will show up on the screen? And what do I do when have to select option 2 on the other ps3? Please reply asap. Thanks!

no it will stay as it at 160gb is as the memory is on the hdd so none of the ps3 main data will be lost or changed

wait if i try this with a ylod ps3 and try to transfer data to a new ps3 320gb can this cause a breakdown or memory corruption and also after the format is complete will my 320gb still remain or change to the amount of my old ps3 which will be 40gb?
