@JimboVids What's the point of complaining about this? A lot of people post videos to share them with friends/colleagues. The title wasn't misleading, so what's the problem? Just don't watch it if you think it's boring.
@JimboVids So let me get this straight: you sat through the ENTIRE video, and then wasted your oh-so-precious time making a stupid comment that it was boring?
It's actually called a "semi-trailer" because it only has one set of wheels at the rear and needs support by the tractor at the front. A full trailer doesn't need support.
@MrDan6670 well I thought I could learn something new but I guess not :/ I am a solo driver and I been over the road for 3 years and I love been a truck driver lol going to buy my first truck this summer :D and to be honest with that space you won't have problems turning around..
@harley9967 I haul oversize loads all the time and I think the over height are the toughest due to many states policy of not bothering to post the height over 14'.he was obviously legal height, but many of the under 14's Are inadequately represented on maps, gps.I think each state should be forced to fix the unders(most states have but a few)

Not an easy task to "Blind Side" backing (that's to the right side) driver did well and didn't hit anything, which is a good thing, not so entertaining, but still a good thing..
@blazerx900 Its Called a Semi Truck because of the trailer it hauls, its actually the Trailer that is the "Semi" because the trailer only has wheels on the back, where a "full" Trailer has its own wheels at front and back
A trailer is called what it is because it "trails" behind a vehicle. With a semi-trailer (truck) not all of the trailer is behind the vehicle, so it semi trails the tow vehicle. (Some of the trailer is over the frame of the tow vehicle)
@blazerx900 It is actually called a tractor semi-trailer combo. The semi part is because the trailer has wheels at the tail end only. A full trailer has wheels at both the front and rear (think your radio flyer wagon you had as a kid) those are mostly farm type trailers. you can have a converter dolly attached to a semi trailer to make it a full trailer (the second trailer in a set of doubles (think ups trucks).
@blazerx900 A trailer is considered a full trailer when it is supported at both ends and pulled. In other words it can be unhooked from the truck and still be a roll-able unit.
A semi trailer has no front axle or wheels and becomes a roll-able unit once its front end is supported by the back wheels of the tractor. On a double trailer truck, the front trailer is a semi trailer and the back trailer is a..... trailer.
@blazerx900 Semi refers to the tractor (truck) itself without the trailer. The term semi has nothing to do with the trailer. I have a Class A CDL and my father has been driving 45 years. They call it a tractor or Bobtail because without a trailer the back bounces a lot without a trailer. Especially when stopping due to the weight being shifted to the steer tires.
@BornBW Or you could type, "definition of a semi truck" into Google.
You may find that this answer comes up quite a few times..
Definition of a semi-trailer:
A semi-trailer is a trailer without a front axle. A large proportion of its weight is supported either by a road tractor or by a detachable front axle assembly called a dolly.
This one was cut and pasted from The American Trailer Exchange (amtrex.net).
@wqfs650@blazerx900@REANIMATION2 - In Australia we call them "semi trailers", pronounced "SEM-ee", not "sem-eye". And what Americans call the "tractor', we call the "prime mover".
A truck is a single unit that by itself can carry a load, usually on a flat bed or in a body attached to the frame. A semi-truck (also known as a road tractor) is the power unit which cannot by itself carry a load but attaches to a trailer which does.

@halflife103 because people use bad jargon, "Semi" regards the trailer type, one not having a front axle, which is a full trailer, a Semi trailer needs support from either landing gear or other forms of holding the frontend up or a "tractor",,which people call "Trucks" a "truck has its own means of freight support, live a dumptruck,cementtruck,fueltruck,watertruck..etc ! a"Tractor" only pulls,it needs a trailer of what ever type to move its cargo. sizes of trators and fulltrucks vary.

@nucknoel89 I mean that exactly as it sounds. My family in Italy have used Volvo trucks of all shapes and sizes in their businesses and they are nice trucks. Ok?
It depends on what you mean by "U" turn. If you were expecting a maneuver between opposite curbs on a two-way street, which might have required some fancy jacknifing, you were probably disappointed. However if by "U" turn you simply mean reversing course any way possible then this qualifies as a "U" turn.
he's lucky he had a road so near to back into. When I drove T/T in Germany (37th Trans GP 68-35) lots of times..running on back roads...I had to back up a long ways before I could turn around. I guess thats what I get for trying to take so many shortcuts-instead of going all the way around on the autobahn. ach du lieber!!!
Not all low bridges are listed on your rand mcnally. Especially ones that are located on county roads. That driver did a great job at blind siding backing.
@malone23kid That is why you check you Atlas before you commit to a road. All the low bridges are listed. So he was alright that he didn't go straight into the bridge, but he is a stupid fuck for going onto that road at all. That is unless he made a wrong entrance. Like they say, "shit happens".
That was not a "U" turn. It was a "Y" turn. I once got myself into a situation that looked just like that when I tried to by-pass the I-80 scale in Pennsylvania.
only problem i have with this is if he was using his map he would have known this route he picked would have had low overpass in this case that train bridge. cobra also makes a 7" GPS unit that will locate all restricted hwy's and low over pass's if u cant read a truckers atlas. but other then that grats on the backing up job.

if that hill was steeper should consider putting snow chains on the trailer so the trailer would not slide down sideways

He did it but I wouldve straight backed and then turned in the side street and then backed out. The whole blind siding into an open icy road seems a tad dangerous! JMO, of course!
