This goal, in its entirety, is nothing more than bad luck. Neville couldn't pick out a better pass because he was being closed down by 2 Croatian players, and instead of passing it to another team mate or clearing it hastily and risk an interception, he passed it back to his goalie who can belt it above and beyond the congestion in their own half. It was the safest option. People pass back to the goalkeepers all the damn time. it was the tuft of grass that caused the goal. Its that simple.
