My grandpa was my idol. He taught me everything I ever needed to know about life. I was 8 yrs old and helping him change the oil in my sisters car on March 7, 1976 when he died suddenly of a massive heart attack at the age of 79. Even today, I miss his so much it hurts. This song reminds me of him.
Bless your heart. ... I know how it feels to loose someone, that you look up to.. someone you hold dear.. someone you love so much....Hold onto your memories... and pass them on to your kids.... And keep remembering that Jesus is in conrtoll, of everything.. he will never leave you, no matter what.
That was a beautiful rendition. It brings back memories, I sang the exact song at my granfather's funeral.... Everytime i hear this song, it makes me tear up. It also makes me smile and think of all of the good times we shared together and what a great life he lived. He had 11 kids, 35 grandchildren, and 17 great grandchildren. Gah I miss him
i feel you man :( my grandpa is a strong 75 years old but got diagnosed with all timers and parkinsons just the other day :( i dont expect much longer man i love him to death sorry for your loss
Im so sorry for your loss. You did a great job singing that song. By looking at the slide show it looks like your grandfather must be from around Louisiana or Texas.
I just lost my grandpa today, got the call 2 hours ago. He wasn't just a grandpa, he was a second father, a man that inspired me and most of all, he was my hero. I wanted to hear this song and found this. Thank you for bringing me back so many wonderful memories.......
Wonderful voice, enjoyed the song. All good things come to and end. The stangest thought of all, We begin to die the day we are born. Its a long journey. Looked like a great and loving man. Sorry for your loss. ...Realy enjoyed the pictures, whats up with the shotgun and shovel? Could never get up like that. Kudos, takes a man...
Thank you for posting this, this was honestly what influenced me to speak at my great uncles' funeral. I didn't know how I was going to make it through without tearing up, but I remembered seeing this video and knew that if you could get up and sing this amazing song, than the least I could do is pay my respects to my uncle, Thank you.
Love you uncle Terry, you will never be forgotten.
i love this song, every time i hear it i think of my grandpa and start to tear up. because in my eyes he walked on water. its been more than 5 years and this song still gets to me.
What a wonderful tribute to your Grandfather. God Bless you for sharing it with us. Tomorrow when i see my pops who is 72 years old I'll tell him how much i love him. Thank You!
I just stumbled across your video as I was on YouTube looking for something else . . . all I can say is, WOW, what a WONDERFUL tribute to your grandfather. It's clear that he must have been a very special human being who lived a VERY FULL life. I'm sure he felt blessed to have such grandchildren who loved him so much. May God bless you and your family as you cope with you loss. Be thankful everyday for him . . .this is what life is all about !!!!!!!!!!!

I'm so sorry for your loss. You really did a great job with that song. When my father passed away I could barely speak at his funeral.
