Do lots of research first though before picking one or the other, also consider alot whether either one is what you need. check out dvinfo. net and philipbloom. co. uk they have a lot of really good info on those sites about these cameras. A cheap alternative to the 7D is the 550D, pretty much the same except lack of weatherproofing.
@XmuveeStudios No what I meant was if your getting it mainly for music videos then I suggest you research about the Canon 7D. Its alot cheaper and can produce some incredible results for music videos. But if you want it more for other reasons, such as weddings, corporate, documentaries and events then the Z5 or the tapeless version the NX5 is better. Both the NX5 and Z5 cost the same at the moment.
Hi, yes the Sony Z5 is a very good camcorder it's a great all rounder with good controls and great picture quality.
For music videos it would work great but if that's your main use then I would also consider the Canon 7D or even 550D. have a search for some of the music videos people have made on it, they look great and a lot cheaper. That said though Z5 is better for filming events, sports and documentary etc. If you want a tapeless version of the Z5 consider the Sony NX5.
And yes I edit using Sony Vegas Pro 9. Very good editing software, fast and easy to use but with some really good advance controls, I think people highly underrate it when comparing to FCP etc.
