I have a brother that choose to join a gang and get into crime instead of going to school and getting a degree like i did and know i live in a Affluent Community drive a beautiful car and i'm able to take my mother out on shooping sprees & Eat at nice restraunts while he"s at home with his Bitchy out of shape wife in a 2 bedroom apartment working as a mechanic. While i on the othere hand OWN the Mechanic Shop!!! Stay in School!!! Vatos Hahaha!!!

This documentary is called "Latino's in America" and its not a story with which I can identify...I was expecting something a bit more nuanced and insightful from CNN

This show serves to reinforce all the negative stereotypes that continue to loom over Latinos in this country, and does not provide a valuable discussion in how to combat such a prejudiced outlook.

I'm Latino, never got in trouble in school, my mom and dad would whoop us if we dared miss school, and they expected nothing less than a B on the report cards. Lord help us if we brought home friends that distracted from out studies. The result: I have a masters in engineering, I make great money, and I'm living a great life full of travel. Thank you mami and papi! Stereotypes can kiss my butt!

I'm very disappointed that they included this cliché Latino story. It only serves in  reinforcing a very negative stereotype. As a Mexican/Native (AZ) woman, I am 31 years old and have NO children - BECAUSE all my teachers (middle school & high school) told me I would be pregnant by the time I was 15. It was always implied by those in "authority" that we would never amount to anything; but not all of us are gullible enough to believe it and act it out.

I have to agree with you I'm only 22 hispanic woman yet i when i was a child they told me i should be sent to a school for the metally "slow" even though I was perfectly healthy. This story about cindy really disappointed me. I mean come on protection is something that is not a foreign concept.

LOL! Gee, who would have predicted this scenario where she gets pregnant.  Classic latino example of why they CONTINUE TO FAIL, DROP-OUT, AND BREED INDISCRIMINATELY. It's not hard to use a condom, go to Planned Parenthood for contraceptives, or to receive the morning-after pill. But too many latinos choose to run loops in the vicious cycle of perpetual poverty through their lack of proper foresight and planning.
