@OriginalRecords2009 Yo, just play with the subsettings and evolution stuff after you hit the stopwatch symbol, it's not hard, that's basic Adobe stuff right there.

@OriginalRecords2009 simply Alt+click on the evolution stopwatch in the Fractal noise menu and in the space that opens up create a wiggle expression...eg....wiggle(12,1­5) or whatever numbers work best for you

@Undermostnewjoe One way of doing it, is doing the whole tutorial, then when you get the fire effect like how you want it, then create a mask, The mask basically hides (or revels) whatever you choose. You may need to mess with the scaling of the fractal noise to get it to look right.

Grat tutorial, very useful. It has served me well, and once I get my head wrapped around expressions, it will serve me even more. I have used it in many places, and decided to attach a response with one of my more prominent uses. Also works great with Meshwarp effects and various shaped masks to create fireballs and effects of all sizes and uses. Try wrapping the results on different timed spheres and experimenting with blending and transparancy for fireballs and explosions :)

ummm...just type colorama into the effects & presets search box...simple :p

or you could look through all the effects submenus.

The whole point is for you to experiment with it. I didn't find it hard to play with the evolution and others he mentioned. Choose your own numbers and make it your own; you learn more that way, then just being a robot.

Click on one of those stopwatch things next to a setting, and just move across the time line, it will keyframe your changes automatically.

To do this just select the fire layer (After its finished), and click M (for mask), now with the pen tool just do the shape of your fire ball, everything besides the ball is going to turn black, don't worry, you've just completed the Mask, the black means transparent, and the layers on the background are going to be visible and with the natural feather.
