  • her voice is like an angel

  • Reminds me of roger rabbits miss's lol

Do you really need to be such a pig?

  • his voice is amazing!! somebody have this song of your disc?

  • I would love to hear Jane Monheit sing Summertime - she is awesome and probably my favorite female vocalist ever. Hope she reads this and considers singing Summertime.

  • Best version of this song I have EVER heard. I am a total fan. Well done Jane

  • @oc714cal LOL - I just listened to it again and thought I would post (not remembering that I had already posted a "Best version" compliment. Still the best.

  • awesome, so glad for youtube to find all these cool artists

  • Her voice is so amazing. Discovered her a couple of years ago and still blown away by her voice. Thank you for posting her music.

  • fabulous voice

  • It would seem that this video's actually from '99 or '00, according to her birthdate. Funny Seeing Joe and Jon so young!

  • This is so nice.

  • She looks like Sara Ramirez from Grey's Anatomy and Monty Python and the Holy Grail.

  • The sincerity of her makes me cry. It was love at first listen. Jane's version of "Somewhere Over The Rainbow", containing the lead-in or preamble is so sweet. I played Jane's treatment of that song for my Wife, as she lay dying of cancer, on the afternoon of Sunday, June 9, 2002. The song made her smile. Thank God for the talent of Jane Monheit.

  • fantastic ! beautiful voice !

  • Does anyone know the chords for this, on this recording?

  • a bit difficult to get that smoky lounge vibe of a jazz song when she's in an office and cut to shots of a monitor

  • very well sang A1 vocals

  • To my sweetheart...

    Have a relaxing night!

  • fantastically wonderable.

  • Heavens to murgatroid! What a voice! I love this song from the 30's...and this lovely lady gives an exquiste version of it! THANKS so much for posting this for us to enjoy! This is the first time I've heard of this talented young lady. Sheer heaven to listen to! I hope you & yours are enjoying your HAPPIEST holiday season ever! :)

  • people get a clue, she is now 32 she was bornin 1977, this is her debut album from years ago.

  • unfortunately this is not the same rendition on the album. I actually don't know which one is better. Both are different but awesome. I do believe that she preferred this version but was under the influence of the label. "Those days are gone." as she put it.

  • Bravo!! she is new and great talent.Great voice in jazz

  • yes. very very yes

  • bravissima e bellisssssssima

  • Wow. Very good. In fact, exceptional. And I'm very critical.

  • Jane is wonderful she feels the songs she sangs and expresses them so well. The song, "More Than You Know", expresses my heart for how I feel about my love, thank you Jane.

  • Fabulous! (and i never use that queer word)

  • she has my vote. Talent appparent

  • She doesn't need to apologize for being gorgeous, she can sing like the best...plus she's gorgeous!

  • WOW! and she's only 22?!?!?!? damn!!!!

  • @AFGMotoGP3

She was, this is an old video. but she very mature for her age. A quantum leap ahead of her time. I recommend her 1st 3 three albums.

  • wow! what a huge sultry voice. I definitely had wood!

  • Ela tem algo da Ella Fitzgerald, mas a voz é mais alta

  • her voice is beautiful (though more cabaret than jazz) but her personality and facial expressions are...interesting

  • She is way better than Chrisette Michelle!

  • Streisand did a beautiful job with this as well. Thanks for sharing.

  • is this out of a realbook? or is it her song?

  • jane doesn't write, she's an interpreter of classics and modern stuff--check out her

    feona apple cover recently.

  • Astoundingly fine! I'm a new fan! She is NOT 'a Billie Holiday.' She's quite original and just great for being such a young thing! Go Jane~!

  • Compared to Billie Holiday (qui a interpêté ce titre pour la première fois) Jane, this pretty creature, sings this song with a touch of erotic charme- tandis que Billie sings with her heart, chante avec tout son coeur - et pour cela est beaucoup plus authentique que Jane.

  • What a throwback to the past. She is refreshing. If this is not a respectful, loving tribute to the past, I don't know what is. Isn't it great to see?

  • What a godess!

  • only 22 and she's having allready this vocal technique!?? bellooooo frumos

  • Her voice the music and her appearance.. Beautiful.

  • beautiful!

    did a interview w/her about 18 months ago,very classy

  • Yeah, Jane's awesome! She can sing anything! Music is in her soul. The whole band is incredible. Jane usually takes time out to sign autographs for her fans...very nice lady!

  • perfeita!

  • She can pull it off! And the metal of her voice fits the jazz genre. I have to disagree with you tadd1, she is very good! Although I will agree that she is not 'the' best, she can still sing this song beautifully. Therefore, stop moaning about the greedy producers who promote her in the music industry and better moan about truly untalented famous singers... Jane Monheit is not one of them! Go complain about the "qualified", i.e. big boobed singers that are the disgrace of today's music industry.

  • great!

  • excellent!

  • this was a jobbing gig for kreisberg and joe martin

  • Yeah, both Martin and Kreisberg are astounding! Actually, Martin played in Jane's band for several years when they were just starting out. Love them!

  • Such an awesome voice. But this is going back to at least 2000.

  • She does a great version of In The Still of The Night - is it on YouTube?

  • Ilike this style !

  • wow! this is beautiful! and i just found out about her!

  • You have the same reaction I had when I 1st heard her in 2002. I was on a mission since to get all her albums. Seen her perform 3 times.

  • Splendid. Thanks for posting it.

  • Great voice oO

  • i felt as if she was singing to me.. lol

  • I like how they cut to a webcast view of the performance or something. I like watching it in a small window on a computer... while watching it in a small window on a computer.

  • @slerner hahaha i was thinking the same thing

  • @slerner Yo dawg...

Sorry, I had to say that.

  • @slerner Its a recent staple of 'modern' journalism; the indirect shot. Like shooting an anchorman by actually shooting him through a rear-view mirror or some other obstacle to standard 'direct' techniques. Its supposed to draw attention because its not how we normally perceive journalists.

  • Excellent rendition! Jane is one of the great interpreters of jazz in my opinion (of the twenty-first century). The lyrics obviously mean something to her, and it's quite obvious when you listen!

    Beautiful work!

  • She is reminescent of a great 40's pop/jazz singer Kay Starr; Monheit should record her tune "So Tired."

  • She is perfect!

  • Wow! I knew this song even before I knew Sentimental Journey, Cheek to Cheek or any other song from that era. Absolutely Gorgeous!

  • yo thats hot

  • to perfect, to technically. excuse me when i say: like all the bright eyes...

i can´t beliefe in a emotion which is so well acted. this is not jazz.

ps: kreisberg is good as allways, even with playing some chords

  • What makes this great is the combination of her sultry voice and her old hollywood starlet approach to the song. Loves it!

  • I've watched this video hundred times and love every minute of it.

  • Beautiful voice!

  • WOW THIS GIRL IS JUST GORGEOUS AND HAS AN AMAZING VOICE!! She looks like a young Patsy Cline and sounds a bit like Karen Carpenter. An absolutely heavenly combination to me.

  • I agree 100 percent. Just beautiful!!!

  • Too bad she lost a lot of weight. Beauty fades in Hollywood.. :')

  • i melted in your voice...

  • She has great potential!

  • I love this song. Check out the Billy Holiday version when she was singing for Teddy Wilson's band.

  • I've seen her perform 3 times. She knows how to put on a show. This version is different from the album. I can't say which one I like more. Both are great for different tempos/moods.

  • That's wonderful you have seen her perform multiple times. I should be so lucky. I'll bet she just glows with beautiful glamour as well as her amazing voice and stage presence.

  • Jonathan Kreisberg, an impressive guitarist.

    Great sound.

  • Jane is a knockout, beautiful and sexy but a mediocre singer.

I'm stuck on the great singers of a bygone era, tho':Jo Stafford, Doris Day, Peggy Lee,

et al. They are hard acts to follow.

  • jane is simply spectacular! and pretty at that ;) check out her some of her "duets" with Ivan Lins - you'll be blown away!

  • WOW! Someone just emialed this gal's name and she just knocked me out!

I want to hear more! Hope that someone will write some brand new stuff for her great voice. She deserves it! I Love Ella and this song. But I want Jane to have "her Own" she is wonderful!

  • Jane Monheit is wonderful. Check out my folk style version by copying and pasting into the Youtube search the following:

    Qd29Ru7RXZo

  • 愛死她的聲音了!!

love love love her beautiful voice!!!

  • wow.

  • Beautiful

  • Wow, she's is incredibley talented. Her voice is so mature.

  • Love this performance. So much control. She looks a lot like Sara Ramirez to me in this video, which is a total compliment :)

  • Perfect Match: Jane Monheit & Vincent Youmans

  • Jessica Rabbit in the flesh..... If only I had the opportunity to draw Jessica Rabbit... Jane Monheit would have been my model.. Talented, Beautiful, and Hot!! LA face and Oakland Booty...

  • God, she was 22. People give her grief for sounding bland, but she sounds great. I guess being pretty makes her a target.

  • I love Jane Monheit! She's gorgeous too! I had no idea how she looked like. Is it true she used to be a crackhead?

  • Not too shabby! Nice Backing too! Well done lads!

  • she's 5 stars, but what an ugly stage!! is that an office? a factory? bad taste!

  • michelle pfeiffer did this in the fabulous baker boys. hope someone will post it.

  • When they were introducing young talent, I jokingly said "Jonathan Kreisberg?!?!", because he's one of the best and most innovative guitar players around right now, check out his new CD South of Everywhere.

But this girl has a very nice voice, I think I will check some more out.

  • I've just found out who she is, and really think it's great to have _any_ real talent out there. Sounds terrific!

  • I don't think there's any comparing Jane with Ella, but what good does it do to compare artists? Jane is at a level where she stands on her own. She sounds like Jane Monheit, which is saying a lot! There will never be another Ella Fitzgerald as far as I'm concerned, but Jane Monheit is so amazing. Rather than compare, let's just enjoy, shall we?

  • If she was 22 then, this has to be from '99 or 2000.

  • Whenever you sing this to someone you love they will be the luckiest person on the planet!! 5 stars

  • She is amazing! The best contemporary jazz vocalist....in my opinion.

  • Jane is a fantastic singer! There isn't a song that she couldn't sing! I especially enjoy her vocal improvisations and the way she expresses the melody of the lyric! Beautiful music!

  • She doesn`t seem to bring any original emotions to the music. It`s just a "sound-a-like" Ella.

  • For a 22 year old to sound this good she has to have some talent. This kind of phrasing can't be "schooled" in such a short career.

  • I don't think she sounds anything like Ella. Ella was an inspiration, but there is no copycat here. She has her own sound. When I hear Jane, I know it's her. She's fantastic!

  • I agree that she does not sound Ella Fitzgerald. She's sounds okay though.

  • She's So Fabulous!

  • Joe Martin on bass. He often plays with Kurt Rosenwinkel.

  • Completely my idol

  • OMG! THIS is the Jane Monheit i LOVE! Back in the day, she could outsing ANYONE! PERIOD! All those american idol girls could learn a thing or two from her. I LOVE THE ACAPELLA introductory verse.

  • She still can...

  • Kriesberg rules

  • I love her, love her voice and this song. I have this c.d. Funny, people I know, tell me I look a lot like her and sound like her too. Thanks for posting this.

  • The guitarist is better :-)

  • yea . she great !! she is a new singer ??touching voice~~~

  • She's so good.
