hahaha, please tell me which high school you played "varsity" volleyball with this concept of one hitter and setter being enough. That's a joke. I've seen really bad high school volleyball, so who cares if you've played it. Based on your overly simplistic comments, you know NOTHING about volleyball. On the best teams, everyone better know how to hit, block, set and pass, or the other team will dominate. If there is one sport that can be dominated by one player it's basketball, no question.

also at phisical lvl u have to develop and psicological restore from point to point ( 30 secs between them aprox), short and medium time stamina, reaction ( a hitted ball from spike at that lvls runs about 0.2 to 0.4 secs to touch ground) human react average on voluntary moves is 0.6, and train is really hard, cause u have to train a lot of basics phisycal values ( resistence speed, xplosive force) coordination, and Situation aplied coordination, PLUS team work Coordination, so what u think?

Well Voleyball as the contrary a lot people know is one of the more demmanding Sports Cause theres too many things to play against, U Never Can Control the ball )is Fault), hits all of them hAve to be Precise and technical ( otherwise is fault), to attack u have to jump and hit a moving object in space while u are moving too ( trayectory Calculation), also at the same time, Check position of the entire team, ( blockers and defenders, and this is only the beggining

Volleyball gets a lot of bad rep as being a "chick sport", or an "easy sport" but it's far more physically demanding than a lot of the popular sports today. Having played it at a semi-high to high youth level during the later half of my teen years, I look at these guys and I'm thinking it's amazing how fucking good they are.

@ixuzc so I play basketball and volleyball on high school teams.Volleyball is very easy to improve upon and basketball needs hours and hours of practice. Volleyball is very undemanding when it comes to endurance (breaks after every rally),In volleyball there are only 2 skills(hitting and passing) hitting comes easy but passing can be hard and it can be avoided by liberos :| In basketball every single player needs to know how to defend, score, dribble, think and perform consistently under fatigue

Yeah, you know the basics, the moves aren't that hard to learn (learn but not master). But if you think that the sport is just about learning the moves and reading the hitter, and that's that, then you haven't played enough volleyball at a high enough level.

Being able to spike the ball over the net is one thing. Being able to get a kill past a double block is on a whole 'nother level. And passing well is probably one of the hardest skills to learn next to setting. I put in any spare time I have to perfect my setting. Volleyball is extremely demanding. You don't know shit about the sport.

Setting may be an overhead pass, but if you haven't noticed, a basic 'bump' is done with your arms. Setting is with your hands, which obviously makes setting much more precise and difficult. I'm betting the reason that you think volleyball isn't demanding is because you sit the bench for the majority of the season.
