  • Insurance co can not raise rates for weather damage, only if it is homeowners fault, they are liable. If there is a large storm, TheReaper is right they will raise rates across the board.

  • Simple solutions guys. Call a few contractors. You'll get the free inspection and know whether or not its worth filing a claim before your insurance company ever even knows you have damage.

  • It does cost - when you file a claim - regardless if anything is paid. You will see an increase in policy price at renewal. It cost the company to send someone out.

  • Sorry, you are wrong. Rates will not go up. So if you suspect damage, by all means call your insurance company. If there is a large hail storm like the one in El Paso then rates will go up for everyone weather you call them or not.

  • Doesn't cost the home owner a dime to have the insurance adjuster out to look for damage after a storm.
