Lisa McPherson is the perfect example. She was held under her will by the Church of Scientology she herself being a Scientologist. She was starved and left to die for 17 days in which the Church of Scientology said it was due to her being sick...she was mentally ill and was denied help by her peers. It comes form the word religare which means to tie again. it is a behaviour. It is understood as a set of beliefs which are tied to explaining the world and my human experience. e.g if i dont believe in the existance of a god, yet i strongly believe in logic, then i experience a religion of logic. consequently, not having any religion is not possible.

As for religion, only few churches have a necessary "contribution" like that. I am an atheist. The receptionist seemed pretty nice and we got a soda and she said thatthey allways where happy when people (there arent that many scientologist in Denmark) showed an interest or got information about them, so she sends us to a room where one of the church leaders wanted to talk to us about the religion.
