@dhide14 This IS the REAL crane collapse bro. I don't know where you got that bogus rumor about the collapse, but I am 100% sure that whoever told you that has no clue themselves.
Hey as a cardinals fan whos in high school, i dont know much about this how did the 3 workers die? and also to show respect i went to the stadium last summer with my family and my dads friend who lives near Milwaukee and i can say thats a hell of a stadium.
I bet the workers were drinking on the job which would be expected for erecting Miller Park. Twisted Metal Coffin. The last thing that went through their mines were steel girders and rebar. :-)
@waterfordjim man you are the most ignorant and egotistical asshole! Why don't you publish your full name so some ironworkers can show you what will go through your head before you die! Cocksucker show some respect!
@waterfordjim I just noticed that you made a joke about Big Blue collapsing. Wow, wrong place dude. You either really regretted that post or you are the dumbest guy on ur block. Either way, hope ur family gets hit by a bus jim. Huh, jokes about death CAN be funny :-)
One of the guys who died was my dads boss for a little bit, he got fired for stealing money from the company but its sad that he died but im sure he looks down from heaven at the park and the statue and all the people who enjoy the miller park. RIP guys
@MrBrandon1583 the statue isn't for them. They have a memorial of the wall of all the names that helped. The statue is to symbolize all the occupations that helped with the construction. If you ever see it you will see that one of the people is a woman, when all the people in the basket were men.
the three men killed were in a cart that you can see get hit. its behind the main crane and gets hit by big blue as it crashes. the men basically fell 20+ stories in a metal cart.. just tragic
Man, I don't know how it must have felt to be there working on the stadium. Those three workers probably had a family at home. My heart goes out to the famlies and to co-workers who witnessed it. No matter how beautful the park is, there will always be that one time when three human beings were killed in the process.
The reason the crane collapsed was because of sum operator being a "yes" Man. It was to windy at that time for the lift. The Roof section was pushed off center because of the wind. when that happen the crane couldn't support the load. and it collapsed.
My professor was the lead investigator on the scene, and the images of bodies were horric. The were so many elements that caused this accident, but there was definitely neglience involved
the day this happened i was siding an iron workers house. he came home from work with 3 cases of beer. he said he knew these guys and we proceeded to pound beer in their honor. he had good stories about the workers. to this day every time im at miller park i think about that day. RIP guys.
you are a idiot! Miller Park is perfect for Milwaukee, it has less entertainment then any other new ball park, and it keep you warm in the beginning of the season YOU ARE AN IDIOT
I'm not trying to piss anyone off with my first comment on this page, because I know it was unfortunate that that happened. I'm just trying to point out that if they would've looked at the big picture and saved themselves oodles of money by renovating County Stadium this tragedy may very well could've been avoided. I love the Brewers and wouldn't want them to go anywhere, but I'm also a Classic Baseball fan.
IN HIS FAMOUS WORDS FOR 20 SEASONS: "And that'll do it from County! - Bob Uecker"
milwaukee needed a stadium with a roofthough i think for earyly april and even may and then l8r in the season for september and october now that they are playin october ball=]
I didn't think it was in bad shape. I've read different things that said it would've been cheaper to renovate it than to build Miller Park.
Miller Park cost $400 Million to build. They could've cut that cost by 3/4 if they would've renovated County.
If it was in such bad shape what was wrong with it. Because these things that I've read say it needed a new scoreboard, modernized plumbing, needed new seats in some areas.
On The Surface it did not look to bad but in some areas you could see it sinking into the ground. Foundation Problems) The Locker Room Area Was also bad to the point where teams did not even want to come here don't get me wrong I loved Milwaukee county stadium too first brewer games I went to where there but it had to be done if they would not have done it years down the road they would of been faced with the same problem and eventually needed to build a new stadium anyway eventually.
True. Even when they added on to County in the '70's, they didn't modernize the lockerrooms. I remember reading something about the final moments of County and Warren Spahn said something like: "They've changed this place around so much that it don't look the same. Only thing is when I went to the locker room, I felt like it was Opening Day 1953.
I didn't know that it had foundation problems. It was probably in the reports I read about how cheaper it would've been to renovate County but I didn't see it.
The Cubs have played at Wrigley for 100 years and IMO, County had way more spunk and pizazz than Wrigley ever will.
Yet, for some reason, nobody in Chicago wants to tear down Wrigley. But in Milwaukee, GOD FORBID, she's sinking to the left a little, better spend 400 million and build us a new park.
Actually. This video WAS released to the public the day it happened, but milwaukee TV stations stopped showing it for the sake of the families involved, but I remember seeing it all over the news and even Sportscenter that night.
I saw something like that happened today...I work at Lyondell (houston texas) the 2nd tallest crane in the world was working there...and it fell. That was the most craziest thing I have ever seen...
You know, this footage wasn't even released to the public until a few years after it occurred. The only other footage of it was from the highway by a family driving by.
Dumbass politics, They were behind schedule and the crane operator told his boss the conditions were too dangerous to operate the crane. So he got fired and the boss got another operator to do it. Politics...BTW You can see how the three men died. They are in the bucket of the second crane in the background.
Where were the three that died?
