It pisses me off when 3/4 scale guitars are labeled "children's guitar". There are two advantages to these shorter scale guitars: 1. they tend to be a lot lighter, so less fatiguing when playing live; 2. they are more suited to thicker gauge strings that offer a fuller, more interesting tone than thinner gauge - and thicker strings break less.

The weirdest thing about playing this guitar was getting used to slackness of the strings. Since the scale length is so short, the string tension is very low. With heavy strings, it would play & sound a lot better.

This guitar is 3/4 scale. It's a bit harder to play since I'm used to a full size instrument. Due to the short scale length, the strings feel very loose. The feel & sound would probably improve greatly with heavier gauge strings.

If you look at most guitarists that are legends in the rock world of guitar most of them have absolutely no formal musical education, not to say that they don't know understand how much works. There's a difference between theoretically understanding the concepts, and internalizing them from being immersed in the music.

Most guitarists, like me, take this approach: get fairly good, then learn some theory, incorporate the theory into your playing, but don't base your playing on it.
