Hey!!! I start my clinicals this fall, and being so anxious and so nervous about it, all I needed was to watch this video and realize IT IS possible once you put your mind and your heart into it! It made me tear up!
I start on Monday and I've been conditioning my mind & body to do my best. Thank you for this video. And thank you for highlighting the power of friendship and togetherness throughout the journey. My class's journey has not officially started but I believe we already have a strong bond from the 1 wee orientation we had last week. Wish us luck.
I will shortly become a nursing student too. After having gained roughly 8 years experience in the hospital environment as an orderly, I have developed the drive, passion and desire to contribute to my community and world in this way... I work mainly in the operating theatres. The nurses that I work both along side and under, are simply the best. I am ready to do the hard yards to attaining my nursing degree. This video shows what those hard yards will be like. Thank you...
Thank you for putting this up for all to see. I went to school to become a Medical Assistant, and my next step is on to Nursing School. Seeing it made me cry and helps me to keep in mind where I am headed on my journey. Thank you again.
This is very well done. I see myself through this video. The first semester is the toughest. It will shake every sense of your sanity!! :(( But it is true that it is "much more bearable with your nursing school friends by your side"! Good luck to us in the program (we'll make it!) and to all incoming nursing students! =)
I'm half way through my 4 year nursing degree. I have found my passion and I wouldn't give it up for anything. Everyday I fall in love with nursing more and more. It is hard, frustrating, maddening even, but wonderful.
The video was a wonderful tribute to the stress and awesomeness that nursing school is.
I'm a british final year nursing student, and I almost cried watching this! It is so true all the ups and downs! Thank you for posting this, it shows perspective student nurses what to expect a lot better than any university prospectus :)
@majababe123 Haha, thank you! :) I definitely agree with that!! Everything the university tries to prepare us for when starting school kind of sells the whole experience short! Good luck finishing your schooling!!
@p0a0y Aw, good luck!!! Don't be too scared, though. It's unlike anything you'll ever do in your life, but through all of the hard times, late nights and lots and lots of studying, you'll be able to find yourself thrive in patient care and simply just learning how to help someone. It's an amazing experience!! Good luck! :)
@MusicalMilleAnne I would be worried if you weren't scared! :) Nursing is hard, the school portion is even harder, it's definitely no walk in the park. But like in the video, you have X number of people going through the same thing with you--use them and you'll be able to make it through. You just have to have your heart in it :)
@Alir198333 No, the part you saw in the pictures was us doing intradermal injections, like for the TB shot. We only got to do that and then subcutaneous injections... I wish we could have practiced for the phlebotomy part or just for inserting IV's! Mannequins are never the same as real life... haha
@PineappleCrush2 Lol..Oh i see, just wondering because when did attend school for Phlebotomy few years back. We practiced drawing on each other. I'm finishing up my pre reqs to get into Nursing so wish me luck and if any tips, would be helpful :) thanks for the previous reply
@Alir198333 Good luck, most definitely!!! Nursing school is pretty different from pre-reqs, it was kind of a culture shock, at least for the school I went to. The tests are difficult because they're NCLEX-style, but seriously, look to your classmates for support and help; remember that you're all in this together! And make study guides!!! And enjoy time with your friends and family now, nursing school gets pretty hectic, so enjoy the free time while you can!
very good video, I recently finished nursing school but am going through a tough time to get to my boards. The only thing I feel this video leaves out is how much nursing school will change you when it's all said and done
@classic1333 Thank you! Yeah, I was planning on making a second video at the end of my nursing school career (since this video was during the first semester), but that has since past and gone haha. I was just too busy to make another one, unfortunately. But yeah, nursing school definitely changes you, that is for sure! Good luck with Boards!!!! I'll have my fingers crossed for you!
Thank you for this video. I am working on prereqs atm, but this video is an insperation and by the end i had tears. LOL I am a big ball of emotions anyway. Anyway ty .
that video was awesome...i withdrew from nursing school in 2008 and reapplying for the fall....ill definitely keep in mind, if i loose my way this time I'll be sure to make my way back with the help of God of course. thanks
@TheMsClear Thank you for your kind words! And GO YOU for reapplying and hopefully coming back to nursing school in the fall!! I can only imagine that you must be feeling pretty anxious about coming back since you know what you're getting yourself into (haha!), but hopefully your experience will be 10x's better because of it! Always remember to take care of yourself first! :) Thanks again and good luck!!
I added this to my favorites! I'm sure any nursing student within the continental US can relate! It's a love hate relationship and I almost lost myself once too last spring. I stuck it out, and still have until May 2012. I just know I have to work harder and it should be worth it in the end. Fridays are my day off though. :) I like the song too!
@citylights07 Aw, thank you!!! Nursing school is most definitely a love/hate relationship, that is for SURE!! I'm pretty sure that everyone has their days, I've come close a couple times.... But really you just have to put everything into perspective and just remember why you're doing it all! Let that passion, that fire, push you to greatness and help carry you through school. Good luck! May 2012 will be here before you know it!!
@K2BRN Yeah, it can be so overwhelming, can't it?! Some days I wonder how I make it through... but you just have to keep on moving forward, even if it's just little baby steps! If your program is anything like mine, you probably worked super hard to get to where you are, so don't doubt yourself. Keep stepping and keep believing in yourself and you'll make it through! :)
WOW! That was AMAZING, I enjoyed it. I start nursing school tomorrow, and I'll be sure to watch this video anytime I'm going through exactly what is going on in this video, just to remind me that I am not the only one. And to top it off you used one of my favorite music artist Florence & the Machine and her song Cosmic Love as your music choice! LOOOOVE IT! <3
@DanceSexMusicHipHop Thank you! And GOOD LUCK! Nursing school can be such a rollercoaster ride... It's definitely overwhelming at times, but it is sooo worth it! Keep your head high--and remember that no matter how hard it can get, always keep moving, even little baby steps, as long as you keep moving forward. :)
Bonus points for loving Florence + The Machine and "Cosmic Love"!!
I'm a nursing student...and i tell you....it's harrrrrrdddddd!!!
