That was nice, but you never got a groove goin. That was more of a solo. There was way more fill, or embellished time, than there was groove. You wanna hear some groove, look up Steve Jordan.
@daveontrak haha, I'm an asshole for having an opinion? Look, the guy has chops, but I disagree with calling it a groove. A groove a repeated, usually simplistic pattern that sinks deep and drives the music. Guys like Steve Jordan and Steve Gadd are groove masters. As for me, if you'd like you can check out any of the Patrick James Band videos. It's a lot more impressive to play something simple I find, because it's a lot more vulnerable.
@timh7403 Ok, so you learned some very basic "funk" beats. Good for you. I'm old as dirt, dude and I've been playing for a lot longer than you've been alive. I would never post a negative comment on anyone's vids. Trust me when I say I know "groove masters." This kid's on the way to being one and it just pisses you off that you can't play that well. Spend a little more time practicing and even more time encouraging others. It'll take you a long way in life.
@daveontrak this is coming from the guy who called me asshole and said I can't play right? Keep in mind that I never insulted this dude's playing, it was the definition of groove I disagree with bud. God bless.
great grooves man! I am blown away by the sound you achieved on the recording! What kind of mic did you use?? i noticed a mattress in front of you... just to keep the sounds close and tight??
I realize the video is already almost 3 yrs old (and you're probably even more skilled now) - but nice groove...and the snare (and kit) and sound quality are nice...
Now this is awesome Drumming. I listen to Death Metal etc.....full of Blast beats fast fills etc. But I play drums and rather this kind of beats and style when playing drums, It way better !
Yeah Im they same way. But sometimes when Im jamming with the band, basic fast metal beats are fun......basssnarebasssnarebasssnarebasssnarebasssnarebasssnarebasssnarebasssnarebasssnarebasssnarebasssnarebasssnarebasssnarebasssnare
Dude, I've commented on this video before but these are quite literally some of the best grooves I've heard. Also the audio is awesome, probably one of the best quality drumming vids on youtube! How long have you been drumming for? Will be watching your other vids now i think...
I use a Powerstroke 3 and have it tuned (both heads) about medium-tight. Also, I recorded the audio seperately with only a single mic and added compression and reverb to the mix.
I wouldn't really think so. The PS3 has a muffling ring around it to deaden song ring of the drum. I feel as though with the steel piccolo, you would want that type of ring for the effect. Just my two cents.
do a tutorial of the groove with the ride!
