You can actually get a lvl.1 dialga for your information. In Pokemon HG/SS, if you have the event Arceus, you can go to the ruins and you will be taken to the Sinjoh Ruins. From there, you can get either a lvl. 1 Dialga, Palkia, or Giratina. So long story short, it's possible to get a lvl.1 Dialga.

Not a huge fan of this movie (it was pretty solid though) although this is a pretty good tune. Pokemon 2000 + Lucario and the Mystery of Mew are my two favorites.

IMO there are two issues.

Compare P2K to this one (RoD). Both were (somewhat) resolved by the main musical theme, but at least there was some continuity that Lugia's song traditionally has been associated with him. This ritual makes some sense.

With RoD, sure Oracion can help Darkrai, but the writers don't explain why the song would calm Dialga/Palkia. This sort of laziness kind of plagues the recent movies

Aside from this sort of plot discontinuity (don't get me wrong, P2K in particular had a lot of plot holes, but at least the writers put a half-assed effort into making it cohesive), the other problem is how slow the movies start.

The latest one set up for 45minutes, which might have been okay if the conflict were particularly gripping. But they never are (with the exception of L:MoM), so I'd rather have 25min of build up and the rest of the time spent actually creating a conflict.

@xVishDaFish The song wasn't to help Darkrai. The song, in itself, can calm pokemon of any kind. The disc player at the top made the song loud enough for Palkia and Dialga to hear. I mean, it's not like you could play it on the ground with a little leaf and think they'll hear it.

Ah, that makes sense, but that's still infinitely too contrived for me. A sort of a plot device (motif I guess) to make kind of a lame resolution. We're really given no reason why "Oracion" calms Pokemon; at least in P2000 there was the backstory of it being Lugai's song and everything.

And don't get me wrong, I think the song is really peaceful, but you can't play this in a war and get people to stop fighting. Maybe if this song were linked to Arceus or something it'd make sense.

Eh, that works when you're like 4 and watching Pokemon the 1st Movie for the first time. You don't question the crying scene. 13 years later, though, your standards have gone up.

That's why I really like the Lucario one the best. It has a cohesive plot that doesn't require me to bail out the writers with "Well it's just Pokemon anyways." It was really simple but effective.

But many other movies are just so contrived that I kind of have to turn my brain off to enjoy them
