  • It's amazing to see what they can do with so many disabilities. It feels good to know that if anything were to happen, it's not the end of the world. :)

  • why did you put a watermark on this you moron

this does not belong to you

  • Ouch?

  • OH my! looks sooo real! great job there!

  • Id be so happy if I loose an eye in an accident and one so realistic! these ppl are miracle workers!

  • wait, so if eyeballs are, well, balls, then why are artificial eyes not shaped like balls as well?

  • @McFuckNuggets

Artificial eyes have to be removable for cleaning and replacement. If they were balls they'd be stuck in the socket permanently which would not be good as artificial eyes need to be lubricated regularly and DO wear out eventually. And since it's only for appearances, a whole ball isn't necessary anyways.

  • @TheYellowScreen But wouldn't there be an empty socket if the eye wasn't there? You would need something to hold the fake eye used in this video in place...

  • the whole times ii felt like i was going to throw up. But it was very interesting

  • eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeewwwwww

  • This is so amazing.

  • 1:56 yea,i want to have a crosshair instead of eye,counterstrike everywhere :D

  • The eye looked very good on its own but once in the human head it didn't seem to be in synch with the real eye.

  • to me it the eye doesnt look real, i dont know why..

  • Interesante

  • amazing work

  • Does It Work Or Is it Just For Decoration?

  • @MrChechis it does not work just for show

  • wow thats cool

  • Kind of disgusting that the guy didn't use any gloves...

  • Woah thats cool

  • Can you use an artifical eye, to replace a not-working eye?

I mean, are theese only for decoration, or to see?

  • Erm....Its really decoration unless the person wants to wear a patch over their eye.

  • wow, realy amazing.never knew what the eye socket looked like.

And what was the green line acorss the screen at 3:47

  • That's incredible. I thought the artificial eye stayed in place like a lazy eye - how do the muscles move it??

  • the eye was really great. but the skin sagged a bit.

  • pretty impressive

  • wow, mad skills to match the iris that well

  • thats is so cool

  • I am going to switch my career to become a ocularists!

  • that was friggin creepy

  • my eye hurt from watching this

  • When i saw the finished product, i was like... WOW..

  • yeah, i didnt know they could move the prosthesis like that

  • I hope I don't lose an eye in the future...

  • duuuuude! :D

  • this is exactly how my scleral shell was made.

it was $2500 mostly covered by insurance however Most HMOs in the US do NOT cover this because it's a prosthetic and an expensive rider on the insurance policy.

  • $2500? it is expensive! For that much money you can come to Belgrade (Serbia) by airplane from USA, pay accommodation and food, AND pay a acrylic eye for less money, which is same quality as that one made in USA.

  • O.O

  • omg...tooo grosss to keeep watching O_O

  • :29

wasnt as gross as i thought

  • what's up maggie

  • Wow. I've used alginate many times, and have heard of it being used in many ways, but I never imagined it being used inside the eye socket. Amazing.

  • How much does it cost to have one made.

  • in Serbia artificial eye costs approximately 200 eur. Me and my colleagues use same methods as on the video. I sopouse it costs much more in US?

  • in the US it's like $3000

  • You would be lucky if the insurance covers it. Most HMOs do not cover prosthetics.

  • i want a gold eye hooz wae me??

  • fo shizzle :P

  • i'm wondering if you would have to have any surgeries before using one of these, i hate surgery, patch for me

  • i need ur telphone number plz .i need one eye as well .i lost my right eye in iraq with bom

  • Awesome!!!! I have had an artificial eye since I was 5... 22 now... on my third one. What a great video!

  • Brilliant, I have an artificial eye myself and have thought about it as a career too, so have always wondered about the whole process! Thanks for sharing this video!

  • No problem!

Being able to help other people makes this a really rewarding job.

  • @Triwood1973 your channel is awsome love all the videos keep up the good work

    cough*more videos *cough

  • Do putting on and making these acrylic eyes hurt?

You know when they do all these measurements?

  • @qwastic Not at all, the stuff they squirt in to make the impression is always really cold though. :D

  • @gemsybobsy lol, you don't have an artificial eye dummy... just wouldn't be able to view or write comments here in youtube... unless you have one of those trained monkeys that do all the work for you... that's it, am I right? You own one of those clever monkeys. Mmm... monkeys.

  • @kwz3 I definitely do, I should know haha! My right one's artificial, my left one's real - so I can still see. And drive. And go on YouTube and everything :D I would love a monkey to do my housework though.

  • @gemsybobsy I would love to have a monkey in general, but a monkey that does my house work would be even better! Haha, if just it went to school and work for me and would ace it !!

  • since i had mine done it looks like the real deal and virtually nobody can really tell the difference

  • seeing how they made my eye lol that's allsome see way it cost me alote now

  • amazing prosthetic eyes!

  • This indeed is amazing!

  • this is amazing.

the detail they put into the eyes.

    wow...

  • great!!! i showed dis vid to my 6yrs old chn as we were investigating a project on human eyes...dey were so amazed with d end prdt and how the artificial eye really help those affected pple...thnk u soooo much for uploading...we watched it a few times too..

  • You're welcome...Great to know you found the video useful! :o)

  • wow :O

  • I've had an ocular prosthesis ever since I was four months old, thanks to cancer. I've had at least 4-5 eyes made (I think I'm on my 5th one right now). I have watched my current ocularist make 2 of my eyes and it never ceases to amaze me the amount of work that goes into making these. Thank you for posting this. Is this from the "How It's Made" episode?

  • I agree, ocularists do fantastic works.

Thank you for sharing your personal experience.

Yes, it is from "How Its Made".

  • I have lost my eye, and the muscles, tissue, eye lids eyebrow. Do u know any one who can create a prothestic eye for me? I have heard of some people who lose thier eye and eye tissue and muscles to cancer, can have a clip on artifical eye with eye lids etc, that clip on to metal studs secured to the cheek bone.

Can u please help me with any contacts you may know?

  • Very sorry...I'm afraid I don't have any knowledge in this field.

  • i have a artifical eye i have ever seen how they make them me myself i dont like looking into my eye socket.

  • what kinda material do u use to make the impression?

  • They use alginate, which is a very rapid rubber like material. It comes in powder form and when mixed at around 1:1 with water it sets to a highly detailed mould. This happens in only 90 seconds and so its ideal for taking body casts. It is none toxic.

  • GOD THANK YOU I'VE WANTED THIS FOREVER! :D thanks a million for uploading!

  • You're welcome!

So is it just a wacky interest or a future career?

  • I love eyes, they are my favorite part of the human body. :D Plus this was the first How Its Made episode I ever saw It was so cool! Thanks a ton again for uploading :D

  • cool. i feel sorry about the people that need to use it, but honestly, it kinda grossed me out at the point where you saw the eye socket

  • Damn, if you wouldn't know it, you wouldn't see it. Thanks for posting!

  • You're welcome!...
