  • There is no/very little refraction in water...thats the main point y its looking plain transparent water.

  • It's a pretty good attempt at a RT scene, but there's a few elements that are just not true in the real world. I noticed the water is a little too clear, light just doesn't travel through water that easily. Also the shadows casted from the birds are a too clear as well, shadows usually blur out the farther the object is from anything to casta shadow on. anyway, it's not too bad, just needs some tweaking herea dn there

  • Water could actually use a bit more of refraction, but other than it, this looks awesome, I could never outdo this.

  • It's more to do with Fresnel reflection. There are places where you can see through, yeah, but from relatively high angles (looking straight down) - as you decrease angle, the amount of light reflected from the surface increases so that if the camera is fully perpendicular to the water, it would be 100% reflection. Easy enough to add, it's in the material reflections tab. Looks good otherwise. Happy Blending!

  • @Pr3DaToR15 it's not that it's too transparent... it's that it doesn't refract and reflect as much light as it should... it looks odd cause the bottom isn't warping with refraction

  • @Pr3DaToR15 i think that its because in real life the water gets foggier as you go deeper, so i wonder if by adding planes under neath it with decreasing transparency, that might give it the perfect effect

  • @Pr3DaToR15 Wrong. It's not too transparent, it's just that the water isn't refracting and distorting textures underneath it ;).

  • @urouk well in those cases the water's very still and the dirt is settled on the floor so its clear. here there wasn't even dirt underneath. It very good though.

  • @urouk Yeah there are spots in north dakota and montana I've been with crystal clear water up to 5 feet deep. It's just very clean.

    That may be so, but water does refract, and there's no refraction at all here.

  • @urouk Yeah, but you can't really tell that there is water in some areas (in the video). And the kind of water hat you see straiught the bottom with is still less opaque then that.
