  • When I made the edit I was very surprised at how perfectly it matched the images so I would be not surprised to discover the images were originally edited with this theme. If you or anybody else can provide a link to that leaked test, I would love to compare it with my edit. I'm not a musician and this is my first edit and I did it with very basic tools so despite I feel proud of it, I know it could be improved a lot, mainly to make the cymbals match the key scenes more precisely.

  • I was listening to the Generations theme in my mp3 player while in the subway when i realized it was perfect for the Enterprise intro, specially the part that plays when you see the Spirit of St Louis and the Enterprise space shuttle. I think the rithm fits perfectly with the idea of progress and superation that is the ongoing adventure of the manking, going where no human has gone before (the unknown oceans, the uncharted lands, the deep sea, the sky, the space... and beyond).

  • If I remember correctly, this was considered a few different times as the intro song for Enterprise. In fact, the screen test was leaked onto file sharing websites back when Enterprise was on the air. It's a far better intro song than "Faith of the Heart" ever was.

  • Loved Enterprise and miss it like hell...

  • Perfection! This piece of music from 'Generations' captures the spirit and feel of 'Enterprise' perfectly.

Paramount unfortunately would've rejected your idea, only because you know your 'Star Trek' very well.

  • Nail. head.

Even more so than the theme tune from the 'In A Mirror, Darkly' episodes.

  • OMG, this just fits perfectly! If only they used it, then I'd have really enjoyed listening to the Enterprise intro rather than cringing all the time... it probably would have been my favourite intro too.

  • I love this, I think the Generations music really matches the whole idea of exploration, like the Enterprise opening. And it does tie in very well to the Star Trek musical tradition.

  • @grapesofwraith1066

And what I like most about this is that Paramount already did something similar because they used the music from the first motion picture as the theme for the Next Generation series, so this "Generations to Enterprise" also follows that tradition.

  • Yes. I heard saw this remix a long time ago. It is BY FAR the best alternate theme for Enterprise that I have heard. In fact, it's the only one that is at least on par with the original controversial them, if not superior.

  • this is very well-done; I especially like how you used music from generations, which implies exactly what this video is trying to portray: the generations that led to Enterprise NX01. Awesome.

  • favorite part is 1:01 - 1:19

  • Yeah. Isn't it great how the cymbals drums match the warp jump? I didn't edited them. They just matched magically.

  • The matches that stood out to me were:

    1. the shift to the underying strong bass line that starts when the HMS Enterprise comes on screen (very nice, more forceful, militaristic, like now it's a serious venture)

2.the cymbal crashes when the Apollo/Space shuttle launches occur

3.the cymbal crash when the footprint on the moon is shown.

I saw this remix a long time ago, were you really the original creator?

  • @datacipher

And what about the first notes from the Next Generation theme (or the original Motion Picture) beginning when we see the warp rocket deploying her nacelles?

  • @artofwalls

I think what you're referring to is actually from the original 60's series, and was used as a tribute in The Next Generation theme?

  • @datacipher

You are right. That motif appears at the begining of the TNG opening, but it also apeared at the begining of the original series opening during the captain speech (Space, the final frontier...). I now think it didn't appeared in the motion picture (at least not in the main theme). The closing theme from the 2009 picture has a wonderful part that flawlessly transforms (I would say morphs) the movie motif into the motif we are talking about.

  • now this i like

  • New Generation? Don't you mean "NEXT Generation"?

  • Yes, I meant NEXT. Sorry. In Spain, the series was called "Star Trek La Nueva Generación", that literally means "The New Generation" so I sometimes translate it the wrong way. I've always hated this bad translation but unfortunately sometimes I myself fall in that trap.

  • OK, fair enough. Thanks for uploading. Live long and prosper.

  • well done, that theme totally fits.
