I kinda already knew that he really doesn't care at all,but still wanted to hear him say something.

But then it looked like Bill was a little hurt or maybe even a lot , now I wish that she didn't ask it. He looked hurt :(

Its because they feel more confident speaking German and can express themselves more that way, but they understand English so maybe the interviewer doesnt know German so speaks to then in English cos they understand. =]
