dude, u gotta do that thin i once told u... when ur playin the upper register, u gotta drop down playing slower, then play faster... still don't know how 2 explain it, my english is not perfect and I don't know the "guitar language"...
I tried and I couldn't hold the pick in my left hand. After 2 failed attempts to try and play again either way, I became very determined to do the best at adapting and just learning to play the best way I could.
i cant even watch this, its good without watching, but its next to impossible to watch him play with that that nasty bubble of a knuckle.... props for playing good, but man, i cant watch.
Well I may not be as great as he was but I sure do love to jam and who knows how far I'll be able to go. The greatest satisfaction is being able to inspire others.
@thatsmichaelsmusic Yes you are very inspiring to many many people including me. I honestly don't think there is a limit to what you can do with two fingers. I read a interview article on jeff beck and he talked about how he looked up to Django. He said one day he taped his pinky and ring finger together just to see how he can get along with out them. He realized its amazing how the human body can adapt. Good thing is that you can use it to your advantage.
@thatsmichaelsmusic glue it back! ...... just kiddin, man. ur awesome and ur videos could be inspirational. im thinkin about cuttin my ring finger out to be as crazy as u s2
this guys music is sick it actually makes me headbang. i love classical acoustics they have the best bass ever. and that is sick two fingers? woah!!!!!!!!
@MetaLMieOw62 I guess it's matter of taste. For me, the slightly darker approach is more reminiscent of Tool - even moreso, when compared to Metallica. Also, the riffs sounds like something Tool could easily use as a bridge or the likes in their technical chaos :)
just can't get enough of this song ! it's so... raaaawrr... BRILLIANT ! this guy and a singer with a voice that suits his style would've made me buy a damn record ! :D
i don't really know how 2 say this, cause my english is not that perfect yet... but i would love 2 hear the bpm go both up and down... if u played with different signatures when u play the upper register... like... u change between double speed and half speed, just improvising with creativity... that would make sooo awesome ! don't get me wrong, the playing is awesome as it is, but making it more like most progressive metal bands, changing the speed would make my day ! :D still 5/5 and subscrib
@Poonard yo ! that's my dream too... ;D here in my hometown, we have alot of local bands, and i am going 2 start singing with a friend of mine (he's on the guitar) luckily, my neighbor is vegard tveitan, playing the guitar and singing in the band ihsahn... 1 day, i can just ask him 2 record our stuff... search 4 ihsahn, it's awesome ! especially the new album...
Thank you. It took me 5 years after the accident before I picked one up and became determined to relearn a way to play with what I had. I did try twice within that five years with once trying to reverse hands. Couldn't pick or hold a pick with left hand so was easily discouraged. The accident was in November 1995 so yup, I've manage to come a long way since then.
I believe this was done i standard tuning. I like to play around with Standard + half tone E flat. I do have to tweak the tunning a bit as I have noticed that when I play I tend to pull on the neck a bit. Left hand is getting stronger little by little so I'm pulling on the neck less and less. Lost the finger and lost the muscle between thumb and index finger and those across the top of the hand. On a side note, gaming is a challenge to but I use a Z-Board and that helps. Thanks for the interest.
I have been wondering if someone could figure out my cadence and put drum line to how I play. Last drummer I got involved with kept wanting me to play his way but did try. The thing that annoyed me the most was that we would play in such a small room that his drumming would drown out my ability to hear what I was playing. I look forward to checking out your attempts.
i also played with drummers like that also they would want to just keep going and going even when everyone didn't have their bearings it was quite annoying cus when you would try and stop them they would just keep going and going it didn't last very long lol
Trust me when I say that I am flattered that you would want to try my style. Tabbing my stuff may require some help on the part of someone who knows how to write Tabs. In the mean time I encourage you to just practice practice practice and above all, try to create your own sound. I feel the greatest challenge is not to play others music but to create your own sound. If you enjoy it then chances are there are others that will as well.
I like that, Country Metal. I was watching an episode of Time Warp where they show you cool things really slowed down. They featured Metallica on one and Kirk had never seen the way he played slowed down before. He was amazed at what he was doing. I pay real good attention to how I play and notice that I use much of the same techniques that Kirk does (just not as well or as fast as he can). I use a combinations of hammer, pull, sweep (used for fill most times) and of course the standard pluck.
I'm afraid that I play completely by ear and don't really know how to write Tab much less for the way that I play. Playing this in distortion on an electric is Awesome but I still don't have one of my own.
Tab is very simple and easy to write. Just take a look of some of the stuff on guitar sites like ultimate-guitar[dot]com or 911tabs[dot]com and take a look at the tab. Although, I can figure out most of these riffs by listening and watching. Great video by the way. It would be cooler if you sped it up a bit; it got a bit slow by the end, and if you're really going for the metal sound, speed is important. Nevertheless, very skillful playing. Major kudos to you.
Good News! I found a program that I can use to tab this and my other stuff out and I am working on it. I am only going to tab the basic arrangement but it is impossible to fully tab all the nuances of how I play. So hang in there and you'll be able to give this a try soon.
i enjoy all the pieces that u have been composing, well i can tell you that im trying to play this song but some parts are difficult to figure out, so what a good new you gave us
could u please let me know when u get the tabs done?that would be so fantastic, i really wanna play this song like u
thanx in advance and good luck
ohhh btw how did u get the percussion?? i still dont get it (im a beginner)
@thatsmichaelsmusic What program? I need to to tab out my stuff as well. Can you PM me the link please, if its a download? Or just tell me the name of the program? Thanks. Awsome song too. Very Metallica like. <---- my favorite band :-)
very impressive, you really nailed the feel of metal music using acoustic sound, do you draw inspiration from any specific bands or genre in your music?
Mostly I just play whatever I can in the way that I can. I am always trying to come up with something new but as for influances... hmmm.... hard to nail down really considering the range of differences in the sounds I make. I love blues and metal so I guess you could say that those are my greatest influences. I like that I can just play at all and I don't nor want to play like anyone else. Everything I do is all original. Any similarities are purely coincidental.
It might have been a half step up. However, even if it were standard, I have to tweak it a bit because I somehow pull on the neck when I play most of the time.
Please do not missunderstand me when I say that I am by no means a religious man in the truest of its deffinition. However, Psalm 33:2,3 says, Praise the LORD with the harp; make music to him on the ten-stringed lyre. Sing to him a new song; play skillfully, and shout for joy. NIV. Zondervan, 1984
When I play, it seems to me that it should be impossible for me tobe able to do so. I do believe that I play by God's grace and yet I don't always play for Him.
I would love to see that. I saw a channel here on YT where a guy plays slide guitar and his hands are paralyzed if I recall. Have to find it and sub it here.
Radial arm saw. There was extensive damage that extends beyond what can be seen. I'd say the surgeon did a fantastic job at reconstructing what was left of my hand. It did take almost 10 years before I would attempt to play without getting discouraged.
Listen to gweridon on youtube. It's the first track of ou band GWé. Acoustic post-rock with a few hardcore spirit inside. ^^
Hope you'll enjoy

Godlike! All that with only four fingers... I admire you, really. Best wishes man, have fun to play and give us more godlike songs like that!

This is utterly awesome! I searched for acoustic metal to see if there was something like that even possible.
I found some bad vids that sounded just... bad, but this is great!
Proof that metal music can be acoustic, too!
