  • For an adult oriented program, I loved watching it as a kid oddly enough. :P

  • Oh my gosh, I remember watching this show. Not to learn but just for the hell of it. :)

  • How does one get a copy of these programs again. I need a copy for my kids.

    Thanks

    Joe

  • @banjoskum It is now available on DVD from the KET website. The Entire series.

  • I remember on the First Program, Bruce Jenner said "Sound Like Kids Stuff?"

  • Isaac Sealy is 4 now and he can't read he needs to watch learn to read on pbs

  • that show taught me how to read because i watched it alot

  • THESE CREDITS NEVER END AGGH THE OLD MUSIC

  • @narnia0100 same here this tune scared me like in 2001 cuz I'm 13 now. I had to run to my room every time I heard it.

  • Haven't seen this for a minute!

  • what memories this tune brings back!! It actually used to scare me lmao...i have no idea why...

  • I would watch this show only for the opening and closing. The theme song and its keyboards and synthesizers are bad in a good way. Would always raise the volume all the way up. Thanks Dennis Carnevale for a great theme song.

  • does any 1 know the song playing at the end!!

  • Wow, I forgot about this, I used to love that music. I would watch the program to the very end just to hear it.

  • omg I use to watch this after Sesame street, and Big Comfy Couch!

  • Dennis Carnevale is my hero.

I used to think that Famous Amos chocolate chip cookies were named after Wally "Famous" Amos!

  • He did make the cookie recipie.

  • 0.o

  • I used to watch "Learn to Read" many years ago, and it sure feels good to hear the "Learn to Read" Theme Song again. Kudos to the guy that brought back this Memorable Song.

  • '80's Casio Keyboard goodness! What was up with the 80's obsession with synth?

  • Was cheaper than giving an orchestra the sheet of music to play.

  • An orchestrated version of this theme.........would be interesting. XD

  • It seems like they took this off the 12:00PM slot on WNET. :(

  • Indeed. It looks like WNET has stopped airing "Learn To Read" entirely. Don't know when though. Luckily I managed to record the pilot episode (w/Bruce Jenner hosting) over a year ago when they were still airing it. Perhaps, after 20+ years the show has run its course and is being replaced with something more modern. It was one of WNET's longest-running shows, even though it is just a simple tutorial show.

  • Maybe this has something to do with Sesame Workshop's revival of The Electric Company

  • @travelsonic it was

certain shows had to be moved completely

  • I remember that Wally Amos was the host of another KET produced program, "Another Page". I can't remember when he did that program, though.

  • Brings back a lot of memories!
