The covering of women's faces in Islam is contradictory and would have more validity if men did the same. But seeing muslim men in western dress with their wives hidden from society is all part of the general oppression of women's right to self-expression,- just look at the restrictions placed on women in hard line Islamic states. That said the west should avoid the Fench route of banning such attire. I think that Muslim women will one day liberate themselves.

I also agree that the muslim women look so very beautiful in the hijab. I'm not muslim either, I'm christian, but I find the hijab so beautiful that I sometimes get jealous of the women that wear one. I respect the muslim religion, as long as the women are treated with respect and are not hurt them, as well as let them follow their dreams if they want. I know the good muslims respect women, so I don't have trouble with the muslim religion. Very beautiful!

The covering of women's faces in Islam is contradictory and would have more validity if men did the same. But seeing muslim men in western dress with their wives hidden from society is all part of the general oppression of women's right to self-expression,- just look at the restrictions placed on women in hard line Islamic states. That said the west should avoid the Fench route of banning such attire. I think that Muslim women will one day liberate themselves.

In African society women used to walk around without wearing anything on top; it was Christian missionaries who came and made them be ashamed of being a woman and now they cover up. They used to suckle their babies openly without a problem and no one thought of it in a derogatory way. Islam (= M.'s teachings, not Allah) is as uptight as the worst of Christian fundamentalists.
