It doesn´t surprise me that Capcom named him Shadow man. I mean, when ninjas used to roam Japan, they were kinda like roughes, they were supposed to assassinate their targets from the shadows. The reason that the greatest ninjas aren´t known is because they never revealed themselves, the ninjas we know weren´t even near that skill, as they were revealed. Ninjas aren´t fighters. I actually think Shadow man fits better than Ninja man, as todays ninjas are more "fight" than stealth.

You should also know that Ninja's don't just fight in the shadow. They also wear white gear as well. For when their in snowy area's but yeah not many Ninja's are able to surpass the greatest Ninj's ever.
