  • The gt3 cars used to be alot better nowadays at oulton park its audi r8 v10's porsche 911's and ferrari 430 ferrari 458 etc why???

  • This always get shown at the Oulton Park marshals' cinema every January/February to remind ourselves the worst things that can happen in a race.

  • It's so funny but at same time frightning

  • idiot had so much time to jump back over the fence

  • Wow a GT Royal Rumble! That was mad.

  • I was there, I've never seen rain come down so quickly, it was dry over by the pit lane and absolutely throwing it down where I was stood at knickerbrook chicane. I was just behind the barrier right in front of where the Saleen's crashed. No fault of the stewards or marshalls

  • To me it looks like they were gunning it on slicks in a monsoon?Totally preventable in my book.

  • Did they ever hear something like.... ABORT the race because of rain???

  • Why isn't all Motorsport this fun.

  • le délire =O

  • @2:14 doesn't look like raining tires

  • so the first saleen was blocking the road? or was he like off the track already and ppl just slid off and hit him?

  • @kayu38 There was a chicane going off to the right where the Lister snuck through. I'm assuming what happened was that the first Saleen spun in a similar fashion as the second one, but the second Saleen (and the Viper, Ferrari, TVR, and Marcos) had the misfortune of sliding into the car(s) already there. It was just a bit of bad luck, and an apparently pissed off mother nature that set that up.

  • WOW I SERIOUSLY THOUGHT FOR A SECOND THAT THIS WAS GT5 GAMEPLAY

  • isso foi uma ecatombe....

  • fuckin jesus christ

  • 0:33

  • That marshall in the black jacket was SERIOUSLY lucky. What a crazy accident

  • ahaa, all the drivers look as if there thinking, 'well if hes crashed, IM HAVING A BIT OF THAT!'

  • who the hell races in those conditions?

  • @roflex2 One of the great things about road course racing is that they do not get "rained out". They will go as long as it is possbile. In this case, the race started clear, but then the rain hit hard and fast. I was in Alabama at Barber Motorsports Park and saw this happen once...they usually will red flag the race as quickly as possible, but sometimes that isn't fast enough.

  • damn what a race

  • Comment removed

  • Why is an american commentating!?

  • lmao did u hear everyone one commentating going ooooooohhhhh before he crashed

  • 0.40 lol gay moves

  • God. Bless. The Marshals. Glad that one was okay.

That said, this was a case of poor race control. Red flags were long overdue.

  • @Uberwagon, Um, what the hell does imagenary creatures have to do with this? "Thank you "god" for this" If you say it's all powerfull, then why did he make it rain in the first place?

you "gods" does not exist, live with it.

  • Comment removed

  • @JCJPark, I see you're impenetrable to simple irrefutable logic, hmm. I will not even attempt to explain the thousands of obvious facts why creationism is wrong. Good luck living out the rest of your live ignorant.

  • Comment removed

  • @JCJPark, look down at your keyboard, see the 'F'? now find out where the 'V' is. Do you think I made a mistake unknowingly, or that "god" stepped in and did it?

  • Comment removed

  • @JCJPark, says the guy that blindly belives in something that is not even remotely logical.

  • Comment removed

  • @JCJPark, even you should know there where hundreds of contributers to the bible. The fact is, would you thrust something someone thought, thousands of years ago? Back then, if they saw something they did not understand, "-must be gods' work"

The fact hat the bible exists, does NOT prove your god. false logic. also, the bible has some really gruesome passages in it, like bears eating kids, for calling a guy bald, YOU CANT PICK AND CHOOSE WHAT TO FOLLOW FROM THE BIBLE LIKE THAT

  • Comment removed

  • @JCJPark, Okay, now I'm convinced you're deliberately acting dumb. Your comments make no sence, logically, or even just for the sake of argument, to debate. Either you live in the bible belt, and have been brought up on lies (ie religion), or you're just a troll.

  • Comment removed

  • @JCJPark, to sum it up, It must be sad to have flight of imagination to live oppressed by.

  • @Uberwagon hardly so, the rain had just fell out of the sky when everybody had slicks, as a result of this the red flag came out of this and the drivers were unable to see the flags

  • thank god no-one was hurt, that is a mental series of crashes!

  • Great video

    Crap commentary

"I hope he's managed to be okay" WHATT??

  • i remember this like yesterday. It was absolutley mental..

  • There's and English Summer for ya!! Some huge crash there.

  • i heard at marshaling training today, this crash caused 1.5 million quids worth of damage!

  • that day it was one of the hottest days of the year but the far side of the track had terchal rain out ov the blue

  • Wow! The Clerk of the course should be suspended for even letting that race start, let alone leaving it to run with so many cars disabled on one corner and a track marshal potentially injured. Absolute lunacy.

  • Afraid that's not the case. The race actually started in the dry, believe it or not, and this was a very sudden downpour! The drivers hardly had a chance to pit.

  • @AndySpeed88 Good point. It would appear the cars are still on slicks having watched it again. Surely that makes the fact that nothing was done straight away even worse. You can see most of the course from the tower.

  • @azonicone no no no no no!! the rain came out of the blue, it had been sunny all day and it was sunny at race control and the marshal is fine, he still marshals today!

  • i wud h8 2 be tht marshall i hope he woz okay

  • wtf you must be idiot or something to drive in these conditions with slick tyres!!! well, probably he can't stop before because the rain starts suddenly.

  • That first on-board clip, you can hear the guy begin to panic when he realises there's a car in his path, and with good reason!!

  • I find it amazing that racing isn't stopped instantly in these conditions. Also find it amazing that you can hear some of the people who are watching giggling and laughing at what is clearly a serious crash.

  • What a crash! Check out my HOW TO DRIVE OULTON PARK video if you want to see a 1 min 53 lap in an Evo with 500bhp. Full Circuit!

  • Hook line and sinker. Boyzone lovers :p

  • Shane is a pretty handy jockey , you only have to watch his ability in the drifting championship to see that - Money he earnt is being spent well if you ask me

  • why tha fuck would you be racing million dollar cars in these condition? that is the most idiotic thing ive ever seen. im glad these dudes wrecked just for bein tards.

  • mINT CRASHES

  • lol shane lynch

  • is that the twat from boyzone or some crap?

  • Yep, he quit GT racing though, he drifts an S15 in the British Drift Championship now,

  • As much as I dislike boyzone, Shane Lynch actually did quite well - he came very, very close to winning the British GT championship the year after the accident in this video.

  • En même temps la météo en Angleterre n'est pas connu pour être des plus clémente.

Mais c'est vrai que faire une course dans ces conditions, c'est idiot. Les commissaires de course auraient du sortir le drapeau rouge dès le début de la tempête.

  • 0:25, the marshal found it hilarious.

  • it was probably nervous laughter, i tend to do...whoops-a-daisy i just farted!

  • Idiots - after the first two colided they should have deployed the Safety Car or the Red Flag.

  • To late, in weather like that you cannot see, plus not having the right tyres on, there is nothing you can do at that time.

  • i was there when it happened, pretty scary and that marshell was close

  • such nice cars going to waste, makes me cry a little :(==, lol

  • love the background laugh

  • poor saleens :( very beautiful cars

  • wow!

  • i remember sitting in ont of that and i was bout 12 and was very very scared, great crash though now lol

  • They used this footage for the marshal training in January just to sho how quickly an accident can develop and to allow time to think stuff through etc.

By the way, the marshal in the black jacket...it was his first ever days marshalling according to the trainers we had that day! He was very lucky!

  • That was unreal, I was going 'oh fuck' for the whole video.

  • So lucky at 0:34

  • 0:44 windshield wipers still work! XD

  • Bloody hell, that looks expensive

  • For the record, as driver of No. 9, we came over Hilltop at full throttle with good grip on slicks, with a few spots of rain. Then the rain hit hard, and if you see the in-car, caught it twice, then lost the engine - Game Over! The marshals are always the Heroes of the day - No Marshals, No Racing!

It wasn't anybody's fault - That's racing. If you can't stand the heat in the kitchen ......

Our Saleens were First, Second & Third - so we knew what we were doing!

PS - See "MG Crash at Le Mans"

  • Quel Bordel O_O!

  • classic

  • That is a shambles! The race should have either been cancelled at the start or at the very least start behind the safety car or red flagged. Very poor stewards, but very brave marshalls.

  • That was exactley the problem: the rain cought everyone by suprise, they where even driving on slicks. No time to change or whatsoever. No wonder you get a mess like this... Brave marshalls indeed! Totaly agree.

  • that race should not of been started.

  • The track was dry and the weather was sunny when the race started!

  • The weather was beautiful sunshine at the start, very little sign of rain.

Thats the trouble with racing in the UK, you never know when it's going to piss it down.

  • Simply driving in those conditions increases accidents on everyday roads. Imagine trying to race around a track with these conditions, in cars that go waaaaay fast?

"We who are about to die, salute you," is what the racers should be saying to the crowd before the race.

  • yep torrential rain as everyone was on slicks. unlucky!

  • were they all still on slicks?

  • Ke Spettacolo!!!!! Al commisario di pista gli è andata molto bene.

  • Could you do better? I doubt it...

  • Yeah sure. Even if you are a talented driver, no amount of car control can stop a torque-filled GT racer from aquaplaning over a crest in torrential rain.

  • Its called slowing down. All the drivers could barely see 30 feet ahead yet they were still going at 10/10th's. That is just plain stupid in the conditions.

Like in the British GP (or the one at Spa) this year, all the leaders were peddling it at the end.

  • Not slowing down enough doesn't make you a bad driver. Being a racing driver means you take risks, you go as fast as you think is possible, because that might make all the difference when everyone else is not as quick as you. I don't think saying that they aren't very good drivers is justified.

  • mann thats bad, and that engine rev at 2:57 was weird and nice at the same time. i was laughing when i saw all those parts fly'n of that TVR

  • CAN SOMEONE PLEASE TALK TO ME

    im bored on cam BM

  • 2 wrecked ferraris: 1000000

    1 wrecked viper: 500000

my enjoyment in seeing 1.5 mil blown in a day... priceless

  • 2 Saleens as well

    1 TVR

  • it's the saleen's that cost the most

  • sry im meant these lads

  • these fuckers had more money than brains

but that marshall, one lucky s o b

  • Why the bloody hell didn't they red flag it!!

  • Slick tyres on a saturated circuit...a lethal combination, that downpour just took everyone by surprise. Good job no-one was hurt in that chaos, especially the marshal.

  • I've been to loads of races at oulton park, but i'd never even heard about that accident!

  • Why wasn't the race stopped, because the drivers couldn't see a thing there. Watch the in car view of the Ferrari

  • rain tires probably had loose grip..

  • what?? when you go over 200kmh and you ran into a pail of water you have no chance of controling your car.

how would you have a loose grip? you either have grip or you dont.

  • umm, actually i meant these tires wouldn't handle much rain as they needed to for grip, but slick types on wet ciruit is dangerous

  • that race should never have started

  • its fun to watch it, the drivers cant realy get hurt.

  • every one crashes.. not a day for a race.

  • wat gt class was that is that british gt about 4 years ago?

  • British GT six years ago, back when they had GT1 and GT2 cars (albeit named slightly differently back then).

  • yh i do rember just i was about 7 then lol

i wish they still had gt1 and gt2 there alot faster sound better more variety and i dont see why we're the only country with gt3 and gt4 but i guess gt4 gives drivers a gr8 chance and experience

  • One reason - money. BGT lost it's top class after 1999, 2002 and 2006 because entry numbers were too low - because the cars were so expensive to run. I guess it's one reason why there are at least six Ginetta G50's in this year's GT4 class. Also the GT3 concept gives lots of choice for good performance thanks to the performance balancing. Britain isn't the only country, though, Belcar is now pretty much the same.

  • yh your very much right

  • on the in car view, i think the first crash. did that car still have slicks on?

  • wow, there must be aquaplaning on the straight!

  • I was there at that meeting, at Knickerbrook. It was even more horrendous watching it at the time!

  • fooking quality!!!

  • HAHA THE GUY THAT GOT HIT IS A FRIEND OF MINE! go stevieeeeeeeee

  • xDDDDDDD

  • An expensive day out!

  • ouch! saw this on a training day when I started being a marshal. thought the marshals were v lucky - coulda been a lot worse. s'pose it worked out pretty darn expensive in car terms though.....

  • Hey britishtourangcar whatsoever you think so tough huh?!?!!

  • wow wht damage, thts a luky marshall, abit stupid tho jst jumping in when cars were still racing towards him, i mean he'd seen cars were losing control there,

    still wht carnage

  • dat was cool

  • red flag

  • get lives

  • i feel sorry for the guy with two wrecked saleen s7's

  • unbelieveble !!!

  • damn

  • I was stood on the outside of Knickerbrook when this went off right in front of me. This was the worst downpour I have ever seen! The rain was coming sideways. It wasn't a surprise that there was an accident, but I didn't expect this big a crash!

  • Going to see this on the 12/13 of july my first time betta be gd and its at brandshatch i will be at the HAIRPIN!!!!

  • dont you mean druids

  • i was there yesterday lol... didnt see any crashes like that though!

  • i was there yesterday lol... didnt see any crashes like that though!

  • OMG :-0

  • That's an expensive pile up...

  • Whaha, that was funny.

    Poor Viper and TVR's

  • was a good race up until that point should have been halted sooner i was stood between old hall and cascades and got a good view but had no idea about the marshal! lucky man!

  • Ce me no ml k nn si è ft niente

  • too bad 4 de saleen it stalk while trying to move away.....if i were de owners i would had did something stupid to myself

  • 1 millions pounds plus worth of damage jeez

  • Luckiest marshall alive?

  • wow, never seen anything like that... seems like they should have had better means of contacting the drivers...

  • YES one without the music :D

  • feel so sorry for the man that owns the two saleen s7 twin turbos around £800,000 of dammage

  • lmao, crumple like paper

  • lol thats the worlds bigggest gt crash

    WICKED

  • WTF, why they didn't showed the red flag and stopped the race immediately after the first saleens crashed ? soooo stupid...

  • comments motherfucker can you read them

  • Have a read of the comments here - the race WAS in the process of being stopped at the time. But the rain hit so hard so quickly so suddenly, not even the best drivers or organisers could react in time. It was a freak storm. The drivers carry on because wet weather racing is perfectly normal, it just got rapidly out of hand in seconds - literally.

  • what was the orange and white car and what racing series is this? I want to watch

  • It looks like the FIA GT series, I'm down here in NZ so I'm not too sure.

    $2,000,000 demolition derby anyone?

  • all those fiber glass cars just shatter into pieces when they get hit, It must have cost $2,000,000 at the lowest like you said. poos saleen :(

  • this was the 2002 BRDC British GT Championship (not the FIA GT series (which is global)), and the yellow-orange and white car at 0:59 to 1:07 was a Marcos Mantara LM600

  • thanks, I wish they showed it in the states :(

  • omg poor ferrari :( that made me feel a tad upset when that got hit :(

  • I felt more sorry for the tvr's!

  • I felt more sorry that I was on the other side of the track and missed it all!

  • de Marshsl flip over to reduced Gforce taken!smart 1!214,000 Sing dollars flys away!T.T

  • luck marshals! Damn i wonder how de Saleens owner feels?

no not Viper! i love de Viper! i lost my soul spirit heart!

  • the no.8 Saleen is tryin to move but with no eeffect on de car

    still get slamed!

  • part of my soul died when those saleens collided

  • Luckiest marshall ever :o

  • Red flag red flag gee scary

    I hope everyone was ok

This is when the race should be stopped before someone gets killed.

    that being anyone

  • The race WAS in the process of being stopped, but the rain hit the circuit so quickly that nobody could react in time. And when rain hits so fast it's very difficult to react and adjust your driving in time - hence even pro' drivers getting into a pileup.

  • dumb people...seriosuly why even stll drivin...just roll out on the grass..without gas or brakes or hard sterring manuvers

  • Most drivers will race until the race is called off, can't afford to quit before hand but this is one case I might have to agree with you.

  • Jeez :O

  • Amazing! I can't believe that marshal didn't get hurt.

  • Thats one bloody lucky marshal thats all I can say!

  • worst racing crash ever!

  • I love how people are saying stuff like "amateurs" "i could drive better". The fact is if you COULD drive better you wouldn't be here bitching about it but you would be out there driving. Just my 2 cents.
