@neddynesbitt he was already 4 when he died because the Horse Racing thing does age differently with throughbred racing horses the 1st of every January the horses are all a year older and mares don't have foals in march usually its mostly in late january and early febuary.
Barbaro was definately one amazing thoroughbred....and yeah he loved to run it was not just in his blood it was in his heart. He truelly was a hero. Nice vid thanks for posting it <3
you guys have no idea what actually happens behind the seens of a race track we do not take advantage of our horses and we are in the horse racing industry how the hell do you think grand prix jumping or anything like that is better then racing horses. race horses have the best life all they do is run and if they seem like they dont like it then you retire them and things like barbaro are just freak accidents .dont judge a book by its cover race horses have wonderful lives. whips-make noise
You were ... no you are king Barbaro. I miss you soo much. Rest in peace dear Barbaro. I hate ppl who care more about money than animals. They are soo stupid ppl.
Sometimes people care more about money, but not all the time. And certainly not in Barbaro's case. He loved to run. You could tell by the way he fought Edgar Prado -who I condone greatly for paying so much attention to his horse that he pulled him up at the first sign of trouble- for so long. Did it look like his trainer, Micheal Matz, cared for the money when he darted to the track? Did it look like Barbaro's owners just cared for the money when they put all that effort into keeping him alive?

OMG! i sooooo agree with palominogirl979!!!i think its so cruel!!and the way the jockeys whip their horses and the horses are going as fast as they can......
Michael Matz, Edgar Prado, and the Jackson's all just wanted Barbaro to live, Gretchen Jackson even said that they didn't care if he ever would be able to be a stud, they just wanted him to be healthy and happy.
hey have u ever been to a ractrack do you kno how well race horses are looked after they run thats all they do till the age of up to 5 and then you retire them o and the whips dont hurt they just make a noise
@HyPeRaCtIvEnEsS12345 No actually it the age of 10 when a racing horse is retired considering i have a few friends who own them. Oh and if u think really hard you would also know that Big Brown the thoroughbred was retired in 2007 because he was ten and he was becoming a slow horse and he was lame.
The song is "My hero" by Foo Fighters. From the 1997 album "The color and the shape". The Foo's are probably my favorite band. Green Day is good, too. I hate rap and hip-hop and all that crap, though. What....oh yeah, I almost forgot, this is about a dead horse. Er....um....goodbye Mr Horsie. RIP I'll never forget you. He died from lamintitas a infection in his leg and before that barbaro had broke his right hind leg and they couldnt save him he ws euthanized 7-8 months later, very sad :( may barbaro rest in peace
running was all he lived for. But in the end running took his life. But Barbaro will never stop running. Wether it be on this earth or in heaven. He wont stop intill the end but there is no end so forever he will run. wether it be here on earth in heaven or even in our hearts and dreams.

that horse really was happy was with he was doing, inlike most race horses, still its to bad he is gone, he is alot like my friends old horse , Danzig, look it up

true but thats where we step in! we can buy thoes horses!! we can make a difference! thats why the U.S is kinda messed up! al we do is talk and no action! if we can take action then we can SAVE the HORSES!!
You're correct. My family alone, has adopted three horses from the slaughter pins. The only problem is that there are sooo many horses that need to be adopted out there, for an assortment of different reasons, so we simply cannot adopt them all. Secondly, horses that are kept properly, are expensive, so it takes a rare few who can reasonably adopt these horses. The professional horse racing industry as well as other competitive horse sports, produce more horses than the market can absorb.
horse racing is not the same as slaughter!!! if the horse is passionant for running and he loves wat he does its worse that killing him!!! keeping him from wat he loves is worse that death!!! but if he doesnt like 2 run thats a different story!!
Some horses like to run, yes. Horses that win these races are often treated very well (other than being whipped in the process of the race). Many of them are even retired to the sponsor or owners stables at the end of their careers because they are seen as icons. The horses that loose are sold, often ending up in slaughter houses because no one is interested in race horses that cannot win. So winners have a pretty good life. The loosers are at the mercy of the cruel racing industry.
not true we have a filly about 6 years old and she is a thoroughbred we raced her and she could not even finish the races but we treated her like all of our winning horses she is my little baby and she has so much personallity i have 6 horses and one on the way 4 are exracers that we bred and raced a yearling and my pinto
That's great! But I wonder do you do race them as a hobby or are their races the main source of your income. In other words, are you in the busisness of making money off of them for career purposes? Those are the situations that I am more referring to. If you are just in the business of racing horses you could not afford to keep them all. Horse racing isn't bad at all.. if they have cruel heartless owners and trainers, then thats a different story, these horses love to run, same as if you decided to go for a gallop along a trail the same thing could happen to any horse, not just a racehorse
i think barbaro is a good example of the lethality of horse racing. he was lucky to have the kind of owners he did, being helped as best they could. but never the less, it is those that race horses who put thier lives at risk. i find it sad that barbaro was lifted into such a light place in the hearts of human beings, when it is us that kill horses as ruthlessly as we do; especially in the racing and cross country industry.

Some horses like to run, yes. Horses that win these races are often treated very well (other than being whipped in the process of the race). Many of them are even retired to the sponsor or owners stables at the end of their careers because they are seen as icons.
