  • thnak you very much dude ! Oh my god, amazing tut !) Really thanks

  • awesomeness :D

  • release the patch on mediafire much?

  • @K0LDERUPT10N lazy freeloader who will never actually learn this process much?

  • @dbaxx9 oh no not at all. I've actually spent weeks at a time programming single patches, but i posted that because it was like 1 in the morning and i was feeling lazy.

  • Why is the "Monster Bass" in SM&NS so fuckin' impossible?!

  • Do you have this live session as a download?

  • patch download?!

  • waiting for the eq tutorial !!!! im comparing the envelopes & the eq points of your two videos and they seem too different !!

  • @theottergang well i don't want to make the same sound everytime now do i??? if i did i would be putting out 3 tracks a day.... most of my time i develope new sounds.

  • Hello my Friend,Thank you very much for the tutorial,it makes me a great service ! Could you give us a tutorial on Koan Sound reese bass if you are capable of ! Thank you so much ! : )

  • Awesome tut bro :D Next step buying, Ableton :I

  • for me everything goes perfect till i add the eq formants, then it looses all the bass and sounds wacky... any tips ?? great tutorial mate

  • This is decent but still far from the bass on Scary Monsters (the only bass worth recreating, others sound like Ni Massive way too obvious). Im sure the bass on Scary Monsters hasn't got the FM8 cabinet distortion which makes the sound comming like from a guitar amp or your grandma's old radio, same goes for the WahTalk. We are missing something there, or a lot of things. If you put any of the attemps in comparation to the Scary Monster basses they just lack a lot of sound content.

  • @klaypexify "Best Skrillex Style Bass Tutorial Fo Sho" .... not... "Best Scary monsters and nice sprites bass tutorial fo sho"

  • @KillerKrazzy Yeah, but it tries so hard to sound like the one on SMANS.

  • I got Dubstep in my name I'm tight =D

  • those circles thingies on the EQ are called "tension points". lol just wanted you to know that. but i like circle thingies more. hahah

by the way, i'm don't use Ableton. you think modulating the sound with any other parametric EQ will do?

  • @addicted2music21 Eq parametric in FL is the sex

  • so i noticed you have Pro Tools. I've set up FM8 on an instrument track that outputs into a Aux input where i put the AIR Talkbox, sounds pretty close, except it's a little more digital on the slides.

  • IT MIGHT SOUND GAY BUT I LOVE U MATE! I BEEN TRYING TO FIGURE OUT HOW THE FUCK HE IS DOING THAT KIND OF STAF FOR LIKE THE FIRST TIME I HEARD SKRILELX

  • How do you get the vowel formants for EQ Eight?

  • @DjTheAst you can just drop the eq presets in a chain and it's best to only chain two eqs then you set a macro to crossfade, but set the crossfade for each eq for the actual gain levels for the presets not 0db. then you can chain your two formant crossfades and either crossfade or trigger mute on

  • i love how everyone is shitting their pants over this, no offense to the ceator of this, but this isnt that hard guys. Jeez. Buncha pants jizzing noobies. Lol.

  • @IAmThinkTankDubstep is that you, Brian? lol

  • @LinkHerdsManyGoats Nah my names sebby. Nice to meetcha...ill assume your name is Captain Burp.

  • @IAmThinkTankDubstep Rather be a noob then a cunt like u BRO lol

  • @HyperElf9 Cool story bro, tell me again.

  • mine doesn't naturally pitch down like that, huh?

  • @saadwaseem you have to do that manually

  • @KillerKrazzy dang namit, reality keeps kicking me in the nuts.

  • good job kid_ i"ve seen TONS of skrillex tutorials but I think you got the general technique better than anyone else. When I attempt I will modulate the eq but also set up some envelopes for my oscillators in FM8

  • @mrchrisadams43 great idea

  • You. Sound. Like

    SKRILLEX O____O

  • you man how did you get the presets for the eq formants?

  • Wouldn't it be easier to have two different EQs with the formants and simply alternate between what they output?

  • @BranZyme deff would be easier... but will sound choppy

  • @KillerKrazzy Why would it sound choppier? I thought you'd get the exact same effect because you're still amplifying the same frequencies over time.

  • @BranZyme because if you just change from a UU vowel to an I vowel or somthing like that, you miss the whole, Mouthy part, or the movement. It will sound like UU_UU_UU_I_I_I_I instead of UUUUFWERWUEVUUVUERVUTBUTBIRTBRTBIBIIIIIII, because your, missing the contractions and refractions of the frequencies between the 2 vowels. : )

  • Yo dood can you did a tut on your song 3D that lead part that sounds like a talking guitar, it's the same sound as in skrillex's song breakin' a sweat and I really love and want to use that sound thanks so much mate great tutorial!!!

  • @PowerMatty pitch bend. bend it down and see if thats what your missing

  • I don't know if you can answer this question or not but I've been using Massive for a few months in FL Studio and I just upgraded to Ableton. Whenever I put notes for my synths using the LFO in Massive into the MIDI note editor it sounds like it's trying to auto tune or chop my wobbles into sections. If I'm just pressing notes on my keyboard if sounds fine, it's only when I drop it into the MIDI note editor while using Massive's LFO. Do you have any ideas as of what this could be?

  • @HaveSumDef You have a cracked version of Massive. The only way to fix it is to get a better torrent.

  • @djproducernini Thanks bro, I'll try that out.

  • Thank you do much! I have been trying to make a growl for a long time, I've used so many vsts to make a growl so thank for this now my only problem is making a bass that doesn't growl

  • dude why dont you just copy the values for the 4 eq points from the vowel version rather than copying the curve by sight?

  • @necaacen i. don't. know.

  • @KillerKrazzy You could also just assign all the parameters you are going to modulate to macro controls. It may give you less control, but I could really streamline things.

  • @KillerKrazzy thanks! great video! maybe the first time after watching a lot of people where I've actually heard the sounds be as interesting and cool as Skrillex's.

  • @ptubeyall I wonder if Skrillex goes through all that point to point business or if he just macros stuff and does it as a performance. All that stuff seems a little too laborious

  • @necaacen do you have a faster way of doing it? I like the way this sounds better than using a modern talking in Massive but it sure takes a while and I was trying to figure out a way that was easier

  • @ptubeyall If you load up one of the vowel presets, then activate the automation lane for each of the parameters freq/gain/q on each of the 4 eq points, you can then highlight part of the lane copy (ctrl+c) the settings, change the eq preset to another vowel and then paste the previous settings back over a section of the track. You can now delete a few anchor points on each automation lanes to make a ramp between the 2 rather than a step. If that didnt make sense say and Ill pm u.

  • is that you sonny?

  • yo could you send me an ableton file with only the automations?

  • You kinda sound like Skrillex yourself :P

  • Great tutorial mate. In FM8, you move the box around in the mod square a bit and you get all these great distorted sounds at 9:30. What other sounds did you put in the other corners of the boxes to have FM8 mod them to? When I do it with a new patch it merely becomes quieter and eventually emits no sound when I get to one of the other corners. Thanks.

  • "Transformer... cat."

  • favorited and subscribed... you have a soundcloud?

  • @theaffairchris yes.... soundcloud(dot)com/killerkrazzy

  • holy shit nice work

  • look guys.... i finally have my own lightsaber!!!

  • How do you Frequency Pitch Bend or whatever in FL Studio? Can you only do it in ableton? I have ableton but I still have to learn it.

  • @daeMTHAFKNkim idk bout FL... and yeah, this isn't really for beginners in ableton.. i might make a few beginer tuts when im bored

  • @daeMTHAFKNkim You can set an automation on the pitch tab in whatever VST you use, look up automation tutorials in FLS :)

  • @daeMTHAFKNkim You can do that with just about any of the popular DAW's out there. FL studio primarily uses 'automation clips' as its function to modulate things like pitch. It acts the same way that automation does in Ableton, it's just a different format. You may also need to (depending on the VST) adjust a setting to allow pitch bending to a certain note you want to hit.

  • Nice tutorial. I know what I am gonna spend hours doing

  • Hey thanks! I'll get on this once Komplete 8 finishes installing. I could hear that sound you said we probably couldn't btw ;)

  • could you make a patch for it? fm8 isnt working like it should

  • i cant get mt spectrum to match yours is in fm8 could you make the patch downloadable or show how to make it from scratch

  • Hey Krazzy nice tute, when i heard Talk to me, i caught that too! it says talk to me on the bass drop :)

  • fucking love you, too bad i dont have fm8

  • @OfficialXsist i know, thats the downfall for most people

  • @KillerKrazzy i could torrent it but then i would be a criminal

  • @KillerKrazzy Dude awesome video! and great tutorial!! But.. I cant get the same sound that you when you're using the "Monster 1 patch" is there anyway you give it away?? thanks a lot if you do!! :)

  • @OfficialXsist yeah, dont do that

  • @KillerKrazzy i wont haha, but i just bought massive, ohwell

  • @KillerKrazzy what midi input are you using?

  • congratulations on putting skrillex out of business

  • @portanexusUK lol, yeah right, this isnt nearly close to the real thing, just alot better than those dumb massive tutorials.

  • @KillerKrazzy actually, you completely nailed it:L

  • Hi man, amazing tutorial / sounds!

Im missing the folders in eg eight (eg formant , drums filter ect) so i dont have any vowels as they are in formant. Any suggestions?

  • @JPJOSHUAPERRETT google image it? not too sure

  • @JPJOSHUAPERRETT Yeah i tried that but could not really find anything.. Just people giving frequencies for certain vowels. Thanks anyway

  • @JPJOSHUAPERRETT i might make another video showing the vowels

  • Comment removed

  • @KillerKrazzy cool ive sorted out my vowels now... the only other problem is that when I add fm8 fx over eq qight and fm8 it cancels the first fm8 out :s.. any suggestions?

  • @JPJOSHUAPERRETT you have to switch the new fm8 to effects.. he shows you how to do it. he chooses the 1st one on the list.

  • @JPJOSHUAPERRETT they are presets

  • @JPJOSHUAPERRETT in your FM8 Fx, click on "Browser" then Click on "Effects" in the browser window

  • @KillerKrazzy Legend! Thanks man

  • Hey man, great video. would you mind uploading the Monster1 patch? i think a lot of us are having trouble getting close to the same sound you have on here. Thanks man!

  • damn.. this is what i have been looking for my whole life... but what is your autofilter doing at 24:31? please get back to me. thankyou

  • @DjEnDium oh yeah... In the song it fades out, it has nothing to do with the actual sound, but i used it for fading it out.... not important

  • @KillerKrazzy wow that was a quick reply.. thankyou so much for that. now another question if you don't mind. i did everything you did. so far so good. but there is something about the version of the sound that u have in the actual song project that it sounds so much more pro.. was there any differences between the setup in the song and the one from scratch? sry for bothering you its just i have been wanting to use fm8 for the longest time but couldn't make sense out of it

  • Sweet tut. I'll be sure to watch the whole thing once I get FM8.

  • Actually, disregard my last question. At 1:41 we hear just FM8, but it sounds drastically different than the sound at say, 9:00.

Could you perhaps upload or explicitly show the exact FM8 patch at 1:41?

    Thank you!

  • Fantastic tutorial. Question though, what's going on in your 'auto-filter' effect at the beginning? Is it just a low-pass? If so, at what frequency are you cutting?

  • you're god! :D

  • @PivotD23 I don't think so, my name isn't anywhere in the Bible

  • @KillerKrazzy This was an incredible tutorial bro!

  • you continue to kick all kinds of ass, i love your stuff! i have Cyan and Andromeda on my mix CD in my car ;)

  • sounds very familiar to Kill the Noise basses

  • This is awesome. Finally a tutorial that you can call a real Skrillex growl.

    You've made my day.

  • How does he use Operator for growls? i find that impossible.. any ideas?

  • @KareemHT search "Skrillex Operator Tutorial", you need to put a redux or some sort of bitcrusher on a sine/saw wave

  • @KareemHT he use FM8, said that on an interview

  • Great man

  • very good tutorial! keep up the great work

  • Wow this is the first tutorial i have seen that shows this technique. Very awesome of you to take the time to show us! So in your songs do you mostly just use fm8? I know a lot of people say skrillex uses massive. Do you prefer fm8 to massive?

Anyway, i'm subscribing. Please do more of these in depth tutorials. We need more 30 min videos. Too many people try to explain everything in like 5 min. Keep it up man.

  • @aerialdude thanks, and your welcome... Yes alot of people, are wrong. Yes Skrillex uses massive, but not for his monster growls. Says so in the article. FM8 is skrillex's "weapon of choice" he saiys he loves massive, but for his signature sounds, he uses FM8 and even abletons own Operator.
