It's a good thing this wasn't released cause it sucks. However the game WAS fully completed, and the fully completed game was eventually leaked onto the internet. I've played it a few times. It's just as shitty as the SNES Star Fox, but even worse thanks to the Walker portions and other idiotic additions that simply weren't needed.
Just keep in mind that there are people who like the first Star Fox and this is a Beta and it's not fully completed. The hardware of the cartridge for Star Fox 2 was pretty expensive to produce and they have decided to make a new one for the nextgen console.
I'm aware that it has fans, the people on the StarFox board on Gamefaqs are a constant reminder of that.
But it hasn't aged well at all and due to the existence of the remake, the original on SNES is obsolete. It was nothing more than a glorified tech demo showcasing the FX Chip capabilities and testing the market for it. Technically, Star Fox 2 is obsolete now as well due to the fact StarFox Command on the DS (also sucks) Is a remake of StarFox 2, or at the very least a spritual successor.
Hola. are you sure that there is a playable rom of Super Mario FX on the net? I only found a crappy freeware game with the same name. Would LOVE to know more bout SMFX...
Now if only the upcoming SNEmulDS 0.7 can support Super FX... Im stuck with a v0.3beta that can't even run Mode 7(racing in a black void on F-Zero/super mario kart) and Crashes just trying to boot starfox.
Well, they didn't release it. What I'm playin in that vid is a beta that you can beat in 10 mins... I guess the Super FX 2 chip was too expensive and they decided to make one for the next console N64... There was also a Super FX 2 mario game which became Super Mario N64.
I love F-Zero and Starfox, I didn't play the Gamecube versions but the SNES and N64 versions rock. I own a gamecube but I don't own many games for it.
No, I can't upload any gameplay of "Super Mario FX", because there is no rom available for that one. Shigeru Miyamoto had conceived of a 3D Mario game, called Super Mario FX, over five years, while working on Star Fox. Miyamoto developed most of the concepts during the era of the Super Nintendo Entertainment System (SNES) and considered using the Super FX chip to make it a SNES game, but decided to develop it for the Nintendo 64 due to the former system's technical limitation.
the superfx2 can handle 50,000 polygons per second it is able to do 21 operations per second i guess it means it can do 21 mips.
it runs at 21 mhz.
snes altered doom uses the superfx2,and doom is an 32bit game
sega 32x also cut,nt do more then 50,000 polygons per second.
the st018 is a 32bit but can,t handle over 21 mips.
with that in mind i hardly can believe that the superfx2 is a 16bit chip or is it an 32bit chip???
i googled everywhere for hours but no ansure.
any guess youtubers?????????

Oh.
F-Zero and StarFox are Nintendo's most under appreciated franchises.
But they still made a F-Zero 2.
There's also a Star Fox for the Atari 2600.
xgamer3000 3 years ago
lol on the 2600, I'll check that out.

Didn't they release F-Zero 2 only in Japan?
