@JohnLeeMD : the air pump is for oxygenate the roots. the filter for bacterias culture, and keep alive the bacteria, but yes aquaponic system acts as a filter.

among all these videos on aquaponics and fish tank ur the 1st i see with both nice tank AND plants. how do you feed the aquatic plants in the aquarium btw?
@henrimaker1 : thank you for your comment !!! in my aqaurium the plants are feeds by the dejecta of the fish. for prevent the carences of the plants, sometimes i add "JBL Ferrotabs" is an iron complement an " Dennerle V30 complete". all the nitrate are produces by the fish. :)

@jaredgulliford the aquatic plants are: Alternanthera Reineckii, cryptocorine, java moss, anubias.
the "air" plants are: coleus blumei, tradescantia, Scindapsus aureus .

Do you simply use a regular aquarium air pump and filter? Especially the filter--I thought the aquaponic system acts as it's own filter?
