@DitDitDah In my case, it was a copper ALLERGY. I didn't develop regular acne (I've always had acne, even on the pill), but I developed large itchy cysts along my jawline...not normal at all. Thank you for your comment though.
What did you mean by the crazy bleeding?? Cuz ive from other people who have the paragard that they get bleeding spans that lasts weeks or even months sometimes. Did you experience that at all?
@MissyLind2 I had a few periods last would come and go the entire month. I think the most I bled was for a span of about two weeks during the first three months of adjustment. It did make my periods heavier, but they regulated as time went by.
@MissyLind2 i just had mine out 2 days ago- *on wednesday* i just JUST gotten off my period on monday- today i started bleeding VERY bad- really heavy-with clots- can actually feel it!! sorry for the tmi *asked the doctor b.c it scared the crap out of me and its totally normal! its because of the hormone imbalance going on with your body while its in- it can take up to 2 weeks b4 the levels get back to normal.
The copper/zinc issue is a symptom of the greater problem of gluten intolerance. Eczema itself has been greatly linked to it. You may want to do some quick research as it will probably change your life for the better. :) My cysts went away after getting off gluten. ;)
@Cypressmyst thank you for this advice, i actually had read into this before--i've since started juicing more and reduced the amount of gluten in my diet. i still have a small patch of eczema, but it's not as bad as when i had the iud.
@jessmanzano You are very welcome, I'd wager that if you went off gluten 100% (It is in body products and soaps too!) you would see it completely clear up.
Thanks so much for sharing your experience. I was really looking into paragard so it was great to get another woman's perspective, but I have sensitive skin and terrible luck so I would have certainly had similar results. Thanks for saving me the time money and pain :)
@iamkarenchicago I think there are specific allergy tests for copper actually-- I just happened to have a copper sensitivity and didn't know it. I'm not sure, you may want to check with your doctor.
