  • honestly, your talking about your wall paper. do you have any consideration for other people's time?

  • ...or just search .jpg or .wmv/.mp4 etc. and everythings still there lol Good tutorial but sempt pointless to me.

  • Hi Rob, your tutorial worked, i had to put in the password to open my files, but after i closed it, my password wasnt needed anymore and it was back to being opened by anyone. I checked that no 'save password' or anything was ticked

  • thanks for the video mate really helpful

  • Question. if someone gets on your computer and say, they go to SPOTLIGHT and they search the entire mac for jpeg photos. Will all your photos still show up? Basically my question is, does Spotlight give them a preview of files even if they are stored in your protected folder?

  • you will never find my porn

  • Thank You!!! (:

  • omggg you are so slowww!!!

  • could someone just delete the dmg file?

  • @condw93 I was able to copy it and delete the copy without writing any passwords so... yeah.

Doesn't seem to be the best solution after all because it even looks more important thing as an disk image.

  • @condw93 not if you lock it

  • mmm....but after you open it once with the password and close it, you can open it without the password from then on. How do you make it so you have to enter the password every time to access the file?

  • @motherspitchfork hey you eject the white thing on the desktop then you have to enter it every time then keep ejecting the white thing

  • im wit savage down i want to know how to put a password on downloading please can anyone tell

  • Thanks for trying robdavie, but anyone with admin privileges can change the permission to "read and write for all" any anyone using the computer can open it without the specific password.

  • HEY!! thanks for telling me about the keychain bit.

  • I clicked on "New Image" instead of going to File->New->Image from Folder....turns ou there's a big difference. Do it Rob's way.

  • i know this vid is old sorry! but how do you require a password to download sruff?

  • i'm just in the middle of changing a large file into an image etc, etc... Umm, when its done (i changed the setting before hand to "read/write") so that means i will still be able to add files onto image file, no?

  • um. just go to SPOTLIGHT and type in 'DISK UTILITY' type caps-- in case the mac is deaf. and dun Drag the shit. just get to the dam point

  • can you make one for ios x10

  • Congrats on a lame wallpaper.

  • how can I see my actual general mac password?? I mean, the letters I can't remember it

  • What program are you using to record?

  • use lamesecure its 1000x better.

  • JFC get to the point

  • isn't there a way to JUST password protect a folder so I can add files to it without having to do all this disk utility crap?

  • @linkfan22 before you select the encryption, change the compressed option to read/write. Then you'd be able to add stuff in.

  • how much can it hold?

    i heard u make 1 is like 500mb max

i need one with unlimited holding space

  • i got it to work, but then i tried "being my brother" and i typed in wrong passwords. after the third try, the file opened itself! how do you fix that?

  • good old OS X Tiger

    thank you :)

  • Hey, I jus did this and it worked, but it won't let me put pictures into the virtual disk. Please help!

  • watch the end of the video again. I dont think you can add to the file once you made a disk image.

  • what are you supposed to do with the unencrypted folder? Will people not have access to the folder that's not encrypted? If i delete the unencrypted folder, will it affect the files in the disk image?

  • This was extremely helpful, Thanks! :3

  • Thank you so much for posting this. I needed to see it visually to understand how to do it. Very helpful, and greatly appreciated.

  • incredibly helpful, the visual and conversation elements were much appreciated. as opposed to some computer-head drone, you were as charming as the geico gecko to listen to!

  • thankyouuuuu :)

  • ok way too much talking before you get to business- if your vid is longer than 3 minutes, people lose interest

  • Thanks let me ask you if by any chance do you know how i can protect a dmg file for that any windows or mac external or internal Hard Drive can not get? like not asking me for the password but to say error this can't be done. Because this friend gave me a expensive program and a windows friend want's it but he don't even have a mac so it's really suspicions and i don't wan't that program to be on any other computer because not to get my friend in trouble! if anything happens!! Help!! Any any One

  • Awesome! Thanks! :)

  • good vid. very insightful.

  • Thank u soo much for the vid! there is but one comment i must make. Not being able to add or subtract files from the password protected folder defeated the purpose of even having it (in my case). so I did a little more searching and all u need to do is.. instead of going to File<New<Blank disc image, just click on the "New Image" icon and go through the same steps. then add the files and to ur password protected file and u will be able to READ AND WRITE.

  • great vid! thanks

Do you know how can i create password for my external hard drive?

  • That was very helpful

    Thanks

  • Wait say you have windows and have some videos you don't people to see and want to protect it.

  • Very helpful, but, once you have created the new encrypted folder what do you do to the old un-encrypted one? Delete it?
