The word "pais" was a very generic term equivalent to "houseboy" which more properly translates to "servant." I find nothing in Kittel or any reputable source to corroborate your interpretation.

How Greek speaking people of the time understood PAIS carries just as much weight as a commentary. We have to take everything into consideration.

You tip your hand and show that you have never read Kittel, as it was not written by one person, but is a collection and collaboration of many reputable scholars. Kittle traces the etymology of words from pre biblical to post-biblical times to give one a good cotext for the word. You are qualified to comment when you have read Kittel yourself.

Sorry, but there is zero evidence that this was a gay relationship, and that is just going too far. Rather, servants were very much like family for the Romans, so the most you could argue from the biblical evidence is that the soldier regarded his servant as son or brother.

Oh but there is evidence. The Greek word for servant here is PAIS. The meaning of the word then meant BELOVED OR SAME SEX LOVER. Every Greek speaking person then knew and understood this meaning when used in the context of a Centurion's servant. Jesus knew the man was gay because he used the word PAIS when referring to his servant. Jesus did not condemn the relationship but instead praised the man for his great faith and healed the servant. THE BIBLE HAS SPOKEN!

sorry, but that is not true. I have studied biblical greek formally for many years, and have my Master's in Divinity. Like many words, the context is key. The word "pais" was a very generic term equivalent to "houseboy" which more properly translates to "servant." I find nothing in Kittel or any reputable source to corroborate your interpretation.

Sometimes we have to think outside the box. Bible commentaries are not inspired & can be influenced by traditions. Jim Rigby who is a Presbyterian Minister says that the word homosexual cannot be found in Kittel because there was no word for it in ancient OT or NT languages.Jesus never condemned homosexuality anywhere in the Bible when he spoke. How Greek speaking people of the time understood PAIS carries just as much weight as a commentary. We have to take everything into consideration.

The soldier was Roman, not Greek. Koine was the common language of the say. BTW, non-biblical entities can be inspired, just not canonical. You tip your hand and show that you have never read Kittel, as it was not written by one person, but is a collection and collaboration of many reputable scholars. Kittle traces the etymology of words from pre biblical to post-biblical times to give one a good cotext for the word. You are qualified to comment when you have read Kittel yourself.

Problem with Westboro, as with some other fundamentalists, is they do not properly interpret the old testament via the New Testament. They therefore do not see that God, especially in Christ, revealed his Truth gradually, culminating in Christ. When you go to the Old Testament without the benefit of the New, you get serious distortions such as from these folks. Sadly, these distortions tend to appeal to those whose desire for control outweighs their desire to understand God's love.
