I personally prefer Hopslam myself. I got the onion and didn't care for that too much. Also that that same oniony bitterness from the Devil Dancer last time I had it.
I am so glad I am in Michigan and I can get this readily. It does get over-shadowed quite a bit from Hopslam, but I really like this beer. I love the crisp finish, but it is a little deceptive at 9.4%. Going to enjoy the game tomorrow and drink a couple of these. Keep the great reviews coming! Cheers!
@phil1sps I agree 100% with that. I think if this one were released during the summer or some other time then Hopslam it would be a lot more popular. Lucky for us its not i guess haha
This is a great DIPA! It's not as popular as Hopslam here in Chicago but that's ok. That just means there will be more left over for me to buy. Have u done a review on Lagunitas Sucks yet? That's another one of my favorites right now...it smells and tastes amazing.
@ssab4200 Yeah its unfortunate it gets lost in the Hopslam shuffle because I think its just as good if not better. And yeah I reviewed Lagunitas Sucks a few episodes ago just search for Beer Geek Nation lagunitas Sucks
@BeerGeekNation We FINALLY got it (1/6/12 batch) in KY this week. Pretty sure we're the last ones in the country. Yeah Beer House Distributors! It's damn good ... as usual.
This easily is one of the best DIPA's I have ever had. As soon as this came in last week i picked up a few four packs. Cheers Chris!! Great review as always.
@GrotesqueKevin hahah the grass is always greener on the other side ;) You guys have a mazing year rounds IPA's. We just chime in with our epic seasonals haha
bought this and hopslam in the same trip to the store. happy as can be. not going to compare the two, just going to enjoy them both :D slow's bbq in detroit usually has this on draft btw, for those michigan viewers. get amazing bbq, and amazing beer.
@StumpyJoeJr I had both a bottle and a draft on Saturday and I could tell absolutely no difference between the 2. I think this years actually has a lot more hop bite to it then last years did
That artwork on the label is so good. I've only ever had the Backwoods Bastard but I know this brewery produces quality brews. This sounds absolutely sublime. Great review and made me jealous as hell, Cheers Chris.
Having this beer on Thursday with a buddy of mine, been looking forward to it!

@gopher401 Yeah its really a matter of preference between the two beers. Devil Dancer had a massive onion component to it this year for sure

Founders and Bells are my two favorite breweries.
This is a great DIPA. I've had about a case of it this year.
I love how hoppy it is at 9.4%. Too many imperial/double IPAs are too sweet and bready.
But I must say I do prefer Hopslam and Lagunitas Sucks.
