After the first game Altair improved the Hidden Blade's blue prints to allow any future assassin to wield the blade without having his ring finger (or that finger that was suppose to be cut off) to be cut off.

Altair improved the blade after assassins creed 1 so that the recruits wont have to cut off their ring finger. That way future assassins would have a easier way to wear their blades.
