  • Cobalt not known for it's style? Compared with this fucking thing? It's a glorified Aveo. Take the '10 Cobalt SS and put it next to one of these, and it's going to turn more heads any day of the week. Not to mention ditching the turbocharged 2.0 the most recent Cobalt used to produce 260 HP and replace it with a 1.4? It's a 1.4, why even bother turbocharging it? If they want to replace the Cobalt with a more efficient car then just ditch the TC altogether. Get it together GM, PLEASE.

  • so is Holden or Chevy taking over future generation improvements or is Daewoo still doing everything? if i had the money i would get the 2010 Holden Cruze CDX in automatic petrol :)

  • Ugly car.... The new GM government at least trying to make fuel sipping cars. BTW the Volt is the ugliest hybrid or even car out there, I really don't see anyone buying that.

  • FORD SUX!!!!! SO DOES THE FOCUS! EURO TRASH! the aveo rs will kill that shitty focus! and as for the curze yes they hay no Hp but the tourqe is mad crazy! 235 lbs of tourqe! and yes there will be a2.0 turbo charge just like the cobalt! it will just take a year.....

  • Gee a choice of a tiny 1.8 or a tiny 1.4 both with a few pound feet to get your adrenaline goin eh? Seriously, just give us a 125hp and 200hp all aluminum high tech 2.0 and 2.0 turbo and call it good, one for efficiency, and one for performance.

  • @yellowmusicfreak Dufus, this is an ECONOMY car. If you want 200hp you will have to pay for it at the pump. There are other models to choose from for that. Look for the Buick Regal 2011 in spring but it's going to cost 8K more. Look for the Camaro in V6 Version. Not every car is going to be performance.

  • @JSY128 Hyundai is famous for exaggerating their specs. I've got a friend who has a Sonata (2006 I think) and although it gets good mpg, it's not what they claimed it would be in real world driving according to him. If you are going to get 200hp in a 4 cylinder it's going to be turbo charged and then you are going to need hi octane gas which is expensive and will be very expensive soon. The Cruze will use 87 octane.

  • The ecotec are chain driven engines anyway so no timing belts chanes are required. Only ricers use the stupid timing belt so you get to spend at least $600 bucks on it every 100,000 before you did other maintence.

  • this is just another disguised chinese daewoo car to look like a GM, my friends chevy aveo aka daewoo lanos, was nothing but problems since brand new, that daewoo engine was crap, hopefully their quality has increased now.

    and OMG 138hp from a turbocharged engine? lol at least it gets good gas mileage.

  • dud ,is base on a daewoo platform ,is crap, plain and simple, they drop the cobalt/G5 and the HHR for this crap, they should learn from ford and start bringing the small cars that they build on europe or australia to us.

  • I donno what ya'll talkin bout the belt thing, my old Fords had belts and I never had a problem long after 100K...God I miss that Zetec, ran like a champ through anything I could throw at it...never so much as sounded like it ran rough....

  • Definitely, cruze is an execellent car!

    it its better than corolla and civic.

    I think that its strong competition is the mazda 3, which it is also an awesome car.

    The only disadvantage that I may say that cruze has, is its motor.. the 1.4 and the 1.8 is insufficient, 2.0 or a 2.4 may help

  • I like it from the front, but the profile is BORING. From the back, it looks like a 10 year old Corolla.

    I guess it's an improvement over the Cobalt, which didn't do ANYTHING for GM, but can Chevy break into the small car market?

    I mean their track record sucks.

    The Vega, the Chevette, Cavalier, were ALL JUNK compared to their Asian competition.

  • I personally think that this car should be the next Cobalt. The current Cobalt does need a little bit of a makeover. Maybe the 2011 Cobalt will look similar to the Cruze. I kinda hope so. I love my 2006 Cobalt, but it is a little bland looking. What else can you get for $6,000. I bought the car used.

  • ecotec= daewoo.  Small engine are no value. in order to keep it up you have to put the pedal to the metal but, with a 2 L 16v turbo that is another story even you may get better mileage than with a smaller motor because you bearly touch the throttle for the same job

  • The car looks nice, but their engines choices suck. They should use the 2.2 liter as base model. From there use a 2.4 for the LS, LT model trim and a turbo 2.4 as a SS model for a coupe and sedan.

    I don't know why they don't redefine the current Ecotec motors (the 2.2 and 2.4) to have a better gas mileage. But what do I know? Hope it does well.

  • there are two engine choices, a 1.8 N/A engine, and a smaller 1.4 turbocharged engine.

  • As far as Korean cars go, which the Cruze is, its ok. I think the new Avante (Elantra) will be much better. The Kia Forte looks and handles much much better then the Cruze. I think GM missed the boat with this model, as they didn't push the envelope far enough. A 2.0L turbo would be a great choice for this model as its current engine offerings sound slow. Or just bring over the 140 hp diesel!

  • ermmm maybe because its a 2011 model...an if they want everything to be done well with the car they dont need to rush into production...first impressions play a big part in what is determined to be a POS in the car industry...

  • "ermmm maybe because its a 2011 model" That time frame is precisely my point. This is a car needed for GM now, or maybe even a year ago.. They don't need to work out to many bugs before the release, the car is already on sale in Europe and Asia and essentially making the trip from over seas almost untouched. The truth of the matter is, GM still doesn't get it when it comes to the market of small cars.

  • You're right. GM doesn't get the small car market. Bob Lutz said more than once that "Americans don't want small cars". So they half assed it and were eaten alive by Nissan, Toyota, Honda, and VW. All those Accords I see could EASILY be Chevys. They don't market small cars like they do trucks. Chevy trucks get all that patriotic imagery. As if it's your duty as an Amer. to buy that truck. Small cars barely get any notice from them.

  • stopped sending it to the US when the company got into financial trouble despite it being a sales hit. They are now selling the pontaic front on the SS V commodores now that are left over from the pontiacs.

  • it wasn't a sales hit because hardly anyone knew/knows about it despite it being a great car. and i know it's not being sent here because the pontiac line is ending, that is why i'm asking for another rebadging as a chevy.

    it's to good of a car to not ship here.
