Drifting is all about setup. So is track racing. Don't base cars from what countries they came from. You can judge a type of car based on its stock performance and a specific car based on it's setup. I can get a Supra to haul ass at the drag strip and a Dodge Charger to perform well onthe track. It's all about knowing what you are doing. And by the way, both domestics and imports are good.

If those two did run, it would also depend on suspension and tires, gear ratios, areodynamics, torque (not peak torque, controlled torque), and most importantly, the driver. Muscel cars are not better than imorts and imports are not better than muscle cars. A good builder could build a 9 second daily-driver Supra. A good builder could make a Pontiac GTO handle well with some effot, tuning, and good setup.
like u said it takes a good builder and good driver ... but if the tires stick to the track u can acheive peak torque to the ground ... on the drag strip import or not rwd pending on model weight setup and driver will out do a fwd because of weight transfer issues not to mention that on this post it refers to a drag strip and anyone that knows anything know that there is no import engine that can hang with the top nhra classes on the drag strip
Most performance imports are RWD, and the reason there aren't any imports is because they don't stick 7 liter V8 engines with pistons the size of Coke bottles under the hoods of their cars. There are also NO American manufacturers competing in Formula 1 and very few competing in many top road race courses. To each their own.

let me tell you somethin then for all those people who are thinking my other comment was bad. One of the greatest drifters in the world has said this, What is power without control?? just think about it. Anyone can also take a vette and smoke a lap around. and maybe them vipers can outrun a teggy/rsx. But, lets go to drifting and see wat wins?

Drifting is all about setup. So is track racing. Don't base cars from what countries they came from. You can judge a type of car based on its stock performance and a specific car based on it's setup. I can get a Supra to haul ass at the drag strip and a Dodge Charger to perform well onthe track. It's all about knowing what you are doing. And by the way, both domestics and imports are good.

your rite. except when it comes down to this, a corolla has 100,000 miles a taurus has 100,000 miles sam years all base models. A few hundred miles and that domestic is just about down, but i could be wrong you know some american cars go forver sometimes.

I'm just glad to finally see someone who doesn't say that "Mu5C13 CaR5 PwNZR5!!one!" or "1MP0RT5 R00LZ!!eleven!". Not many people understand that it's about the setup and driver like you and me do. I've seen Civics haul ass and I've seen Civics suck. I've seen Mustangs haul ass and I've seen Mustangs suck. Even at the drag strip, it's about the driver and the setup. Also, not many people get that a win is a win. A lot of them come up with excuses. A lot of people just don't understand IMO.

obivisously you didnt look up the c6r corvette because its not a drift car its the world champion gt1 and 2 class of the le mans and the american le mans series, so when you clam that your tuners are built for the track why is it a american car wins and still wins afte 2 years of race officals having them add weight to it to make it a beter race ? and you also lose points for damage? well duh you reatard most motor sports do take points away if you damage your car you idiot

i looked up ur vette the lingenfelter on a dyno with what 1038hp? well my little nice ass supra with 1113 hp had some tight music coming from would smoke that crap! im tellin ya that supra has a way better engine compared to the vette go look up ryan woon dyno!!!!

uh no they dont do it commercially. sponsered and set. ok 1.3k hp even better, and the dyno test even shows how better it is than lingenfelter. The lingenfelter is thesame thing sponsered and also commercial use, nothing less nothing better, except in performace where the supra is better

Don't make assumptions like that. It's not about the peak horsepower. If those two did run, it would also depend on suspension and tires, gear ratios, areodynamics, torque (not peak torque, controlled torque), and most importantly, the driver. Muscel cars are not better than imorts and imports are not better than muscle cars. A good builder could build a 9 second daily-driver Supra. A good builder could make a Pontiac GTO handle well with some effot, tuning, and good setup.

like u said it takes a good builder and good driver ... but if the tires stick to the track u can acheive peak torque to the ground ... on the drag strip import or not rwd pending on model weight setup and driver will out do a fwd because of weight transfer issues not to mention that on this post it refers to a drag strip and anyone that knows anything know that there is no import engine that can hang with the top nhra classes on the drag strip

Most performance imports are RWD, and the reason there aren't any imports is because they don't stick 7 liter V8 engines with pistons the size of Coke bottles under the hoods of their cars. There are also NO American manufacturers competing in Formula 1 and very few competing in many top road race courses. To each their own.

well being that ford chevy and dodge are the only actual manufactures/owners of other manufactures in america that would mean that all of them are there maybe not in formula 1 but when it comes to production car racing america is in damn near everything
