like it or not the supremes would have been just another girl group without diana ross on lead, her voice was different had a smooth sound and she was unique.she had charisma and really made the group different!

The reason is because Ross fans of a certain age (40's and younger) have been influenced by the "Ross as a solo act" propaganda. I'm just setting the record straight with the correct facts so that they are more well informed about the legend of THE SUPREMES. It always amazes me how anyone can be attracted to such an egotistical, self serving, nasty person who (musically anyway) is merely a shadow of her former self! She can no longer sing! I just don't get it!

Diana was an instrumental part of the Supremes. And, speaks volumes that she has fans under the age of 40. Her solo and group work is untouchable. She is a serious performer.

If you dislike diana ross as a solo artist... why don't you banter your thoughts just on diana ross & the supremes videos...as people who just like diana probably view these videos..so basically running her down isn't going to get you anywhere lol... where as more people are likely to agree with you maybe on supremes, mary wilson, cindy, flo etc videos lol.. just an idea :P

Yes, she may acknowledge them on occasion; however, usually, when she refers to recording those songs, she uses the pronoun "I" instead of "we." Often, she will refer to Flo and Mary as "the girls." She rarely elaborates on The Supremes as a phenonmenon. She likes to consider them just one phase from her career like when she did the concert in Central Park. The Supremes were the legend. In her mind, SHE is the legend!

Don't even get me started on the "Former Ladies of The Supremes." I won't discuss or acknowledge their existence. They are merely a tribute group!

She gives the impression that those songs were hers. If she would only give credit to the group and acknowledge that she was once part of something bigger, I wouldn't take issue. She is only concerned with her own legacy and only uses the Supremes' legacy as it relates to her. She has always wanted it all for herself and that is why I can't stand her!

If Diana Ross is such a big superstar, why is she singing the songs made famous by the legendary Supremes? She must be sick of singing the same old 5 or six hits she had over a 15 year solo career. I really can not stand that woman........she thinks that it is all about her. Her voice is in terrible shape!

diana was the lead signer, and she never did her solo songs in her tours from later cuz she was loyal to the girls. the way it should be. kay shes lkie OLD now, u cant expect her to have an amazing voice forever!

Diane was one of if not THE most important factor in the success of The Supremes; however, everyone knows that the legend of The Supremes is greater than the sum of its parts. Diane is merely a part of something that was bigger than herself. She made her name from the Supremes and exited that group as a superstar. As a solo act, she is a knock-off from the legendary trio. I beg to differ with you. The Supremes were never the same without Diane and she was never the same without them.

What I'm really noticing in these new clips is a gospel-tinged vocal. On her, it sounds great.

She'll be around for a very long time.

I have to say I have noticed that same thing! Diana Ross has grown into a very spirt-filled performer. I hear it in the songs and arrangements that she favors.

Vocally she is like one of the Mothers of the Church who has been singing in the choir and leading them. She knows all the songs and knows how to lift her voice to move the room. She is a teacher many learn from her!
