Best rpg in this year! This game is in the top five favourite rps I've ever played. I hope, they'll make another DX in a few years. Or a full CGI movie vould be great. Skyrim is a great open world title (deserved the VGA'S game of the year award by the way), but DX:HR has more depth in it. And the soundtrack...I voted for it for the best soundtrack of the year award. :)

The game isn't nearly as good as the trailer. It's too long for a shooter. The gameplay reminded me of a mix between Mass Effect and Splinter Cell without any of the really cool featrures. Over all I'd give it a 7.75 out of 10. In my professial oppinion.

Also, It's not really a shooter, it's a massive Story Driven RPG. Also there's tons of cool features, you know? Imo, it's really well done. The only thing that isn't epic, is/are the graphics. And even then, they're pretty descent.
@PetrosSiamendes You gotta be careful what you call a RPG. Almost any game can be known as a role playing game. The only thing that mildly makes it a RPG is how you can choose the three different dialog. Now that I think about it... The game play was most like Metal Gear Solid because of the sneaking (crawling through vents and shooting around corners). I'm not trying to bash it. The point I was just trying to make was that it's not nearly as good as this trailer. I would've loved to see a movie
@PetrosSiamendes The facial mechanics were terrible just like in Fable 3. And how the arms looked detatched at the shoulders. I think there's nothing funny about my "professional opinion" because I've played hundreds of games since the early 90's. You were right on how shooters should be longer but the story was deeply dissapointing. The whole game untill the end was about finding his girlfriend but it was easy to get destracted and not care from the constant "lolactionfightfightfight".

@Volkren333 why not? you do realise that robotic automated skyscraper builders are undergoing early stages of implementation, they can build them with astonishing speed. After 10 years of development its feasible they could build towers that size in a few years.
Throw enough money and men at it as well and you can build anything, look at what the Egyptians managed to build the great pyramid of Giza in 14 years with nothing but human and animal power.
I'm playing this on pc and I can't help but wish that I can play it like Prototype..playing stealthily has its challenges but openly kicking balls is more fun..
I have to admit... when i first heard of this I was kind of like "meh, just another game".
But today i actually looked into it... and jesus christ "I WAS WRONG!!". The more i watch this trailer, the more i listen to the soundtrack, the more i understand about the philosophy behind it... the more i LEARN about it, the more i am blown away by it.
I never asked for this... but i'm glad to say I want this very badly.

@euma3000 how have you not heard of deus ex? the first one (came out in 2000) is pretty much the greatest game ever made and this is by far the best game which has come out this year (so far)
Undoubtedly the pinnacle of the Deus Ex franchise. But If they re-released the original Deus Ex with this new look and graphics, I would still buy it.
@FLGHRMAGPIE I wouldn't say they crop of a lot. A few here and there, and there is one "brothel" but it's more of a high class kind. There isn't any interaction with the prostitutes. You can't do anything with them but talk to them, and they only have moderately lascivious things to say.
superb graphics, interesting plot and cosidering the great gameplay of the original Deus Ex I believe this is also going to be an all-time classic. I just hope my computer meets its requirements
@maccajoe Like 90% of that trailer. Certain characters are not in locations where they are shown in the video, that dream sequence, that part of him contemplating while drinking and smoking, the wall smashing/neck snapping, I'm pretty sure the guy saying "they cannot stop us" is a different guy from in the actual game. That weird twisty hand thing? sooo much. Don't get me wrong, it's a great game, and this is a cool trailer, just strange. I suppose it's more like a representation of the game.
@Scofthe7seas The Icarus sequence is the concept behind the game not a gameplay element, the weird twisty hand thing IS in the game, its one of the lethal takedowns and the putting the fist through a wall and snapping the neck of a guard is a context sensitive lethal takedown. The takedowns are easy to miss if you don't unlock those augs or are playing through as non lethal.
Everything IS in the game, somewhere along the way except for Federova gunning down the rioters.
@Tuberuser187 Ok, but the dream sequence being a concept doesn't make it in the game. Fair points regarding the takedowns, I wouldn't know as the lethal takedowns always alerted guards so I never performed them. The part with him chilling in his apartment, drinking and smoking? Not in the game. Fedorova shooting the crowds was one of the things that got me started on this.
@Scofthe7seas The Icarus concept is very central to the story so its still an important part of the game, that's why its in the trailer. The reason Barretts in the wrong place (Hengsha docks) and Fedorova is doing that is that the boss fights where outsourced to a 3rd party developer, so they very different to how the appear in the trailer, incidentally its probably the reason the boss fights suck because it was all handed over to another creator.
@Tuberuser187 You did see in my post above about how I said the trailer was more like a representation of the game, right?
Honestly, I heard a LOT of people were annoyed by the boss fights, but I never had any trouble with them. I mean, they didn't add to the game, really, but they weren't as big a deal for me as they were apparently for everyone else. Just chuck a ton of mines; done deal.
@Scofthe7seas The boss fights weren't as bad as some people claim, my main complaint is the way they where so linear after the relatively open game play, the only fight with some choice was the Barrett fight where you could chuck barrels at him.
@nmcvicker03 I know right? It felt like I was back in the PS2 era when a "pre-rendered" cutscene showed up. They looked so goofy half the time I felt taken away from the deus ex world. At least the total experience was still a positive one.
@onimusha542 agreed, I still loved the game, beat it maybe 2-3 weeks ago and after having a little time away from it I have concluded that it isn't quite up to par with the original, that game will always be with me. But this was definitely a cool game with some flaws. I really hope they make another one and polish it more and make it more open ended.
@nmcvicker03 One thing they have down pat, imo, are the game play mechanics. It is a good upgrade from the original Deus Ex for the modern times. Even though they made it more mainstream I felt they level designs were very good, I played through it 3 times and still find new pathways, item locations, etc. Although its not as expansive as the original, the first level from Deus Ex alone lasted me like 2 hours :P. They really are on the right path, just a bit more polish and it will be epic.
I wish Sarif's VA tried to emulate this preformance more through out his role. It sounds much more believable, like a man who really believes in his buisness.
Both were very good games in my opinion, about equal in terms of graphical quality and gameplay possibilities, but I'd have to side with Deus Ex for its atmosphere and story. Get both if you can. :)

@maccajoe Like 90% of that trailer. Certain characters are not in locations where they are shown in the video, that dream sequence, that part of him contemplating while drinking and smoking, the wall smashing/neck snapping, I'm pretty sure the guy saying "they cannot stop us" is a different guy from in the actual game. That weird twisty hand thing? sooo much. Don't get me wrong, it's a great game, and this is a cool trailer, just strange. I suppose it's more like a representation of the game.

@Scofthe7seas The Icarus sequence is the concept behind the game not a gameplay element, the weird twisty hand thing IS in the game, its one of the lethal takedowns and the putting the fist through a wall and snapping the neck of a guard is a context sensitive lethal takedown. The takedowns are easy to miss if you don't unlock those augs or are playing through as non lethal.
Everything IS in the game, somewhere along the way except for Federova gunning down the rioters.

@Tuberuser187 Ok, but the dream sequence being a concept doesn't make it in the game. Fair points regarding the takedowns, I wouldn't know as the lethal takedowns always alerted guards so I never performed them. The part with him chilling in his apartment, drinking and smoking? Not in the game. Fedorova shooting the crowds was one of the things that got me started on this.

@Scofthe7seas The Icarus concept is very central to the story so its still an important part of the game, that's why its in the trailer. The reason Barretts in the wrong place (Hengsha docks) and Fedorova is doing that is that the boss fights where outsourced to a 3rd party developer, so they very different to how the appear in the trailer, incidentally its probably the reason the boss fights suck because it was all handed over to another creator.

@Tuberuser187 You did see in my post above about how I said the trailer was more like a representation of the game, right?
Honestly, I heard a LOT of people were annoyed by the boss fights, but I never had any trouble with them. I mean, they didn't add to the game, really, but they weren't as big a deal for me as they were apparently for everyone else. Just chuck a ton of mines; done deal.

@Scofthe7seas The boss fights weren't as bad as some people claim, my main complaint is the way they where so linear after the relatively open game play, the only fight with some choice was the Barrett fight where you could chuck barrels at him.

@onimusha542 agreed, they were one of the biggest flaws. I was shocked at how good the game looked and how low quality the cut scenes were.

@nmcvicker03 I know right? It felt like I was back in the PS2 era when a "pre-rendered" cutscene showed up. They looked so goofy half the time I felt taken away from the deus ex world. At least the total experience was still a positive one.

@onimusha542 agreed, I still loved the game, beat it maybe 2-3 weeks ago and after having a little time away from it I have concluded that it isn't quite up to par with the original, that game will always be with me. But this was definitely a cool game with some flaws. I really hope they make another one and polish it more and make it more open ended.

@nmcvicker03 One thing they have down pat, imo, are the game play mechanics. It is a good upgrade from the original Deus Ex for the modern times. Even though they made it more mainstream I felt they level designs were very good, I played through it 3 times and still find new pathways, item locations, etc. Although its not as expansive as the original, the first level from Deus Ex alone lasted me like 2 hours :P. They really are on the right path, just a bit more polish and it will be epic.

Both were very good games in my opinion, about equal in terms of graphical quality and gameplay possibilities, but I'd have to side with Deus Ex for its atmosphere and story. Get both if you can. :)
